Water Logged
01:21, 30 September 2015Lapis heard some sort of buzzing sound in her ear. She tried to shake it off as another hallucination, just another perk of being at the bottom of the ocean for days on end with nothing to do but struggle, but it was persistent.
"Lapis... L-L... attempt eight hu-... L-Lap... I-I love you..."
Her heart sunk at the realization that it was Peridot's voice. Where was she? Was she in danger? And more importantly, was everything she was hearing even real? She guessed she could at least try speaking back.
"Peridot?"
"L-La-... s-s...!"
She heaved a watery sigh. Whatever they were using to communicate, however they could do it, it must have been affected by the water. Peridot's voice was quickly drowning beneath waves of static.
"Peridot... I love you. I'm sorry." After that, it all turned to scratchy white noise.
Meanwhile, on the surface far above Lapis, her message was coming through loud and clear. "Lapis? Lapis? L-Lapis?!" She logged Lapis' last line and played it over as she looked up at the stars and bright, colorful spots in the sky. One of them was Homeworld...
"Peridot... I love you."
