Chapter 9: She's Mine

HyeRim POV

I sat in the kitchen thinking about how much Kai has changed over the past few days. He seemed nicer than how he was to me in the beginning. Ever since a few days ago, Kai has been living with me and keeping an eye on me, he also sleeps in my bed. I pondered in my thought as I ate the snacks that he bought me. As it was 10 PM, I decided to go to bed. At around 2 AM, I felt a hand wrap around my waist as I slept. I squinted my eyes as I opened my eyes. I saw Kai’s arm wrapped around my waist. As I looked at Kai, he seemed sound asleep, as his arms were around my body. I heard him murmuring in his sleep, he seemed so peaceful and calm compared to his usual self when he’s awake. I saw his calm, sleeping face. I turned my body towards Kai’s and looked at his sleeping face. I caressed his soft face and suddenly, his eyes opened. We just stared at each other for a while. It felt like a lifetime, but our eyes seemed to connect and I didn’t want to break that connection. Kai leaned closer to me and kissed my lips. His lips felt more passionate than how he normally kissed me. It had more….. Feeling to it. His kiss was sensual, but also pleasant. As we departed from the kiss, Kai looked deeply into my eyes and said,

“Why do I feel so attracted to you right now?”

My eyes widened,

“W-What did you just say?”

I asked. Kai didn’t seem to give me an answer nuzzled his head into my shoulder. He kissed my neck and said,

“Let’s go back to sleep….”

Afterwards, Kai wrapped his arms around me once more and he tightly snuggled with me as he slowly fell asleep. However, I stayed awake….. What did he mean that he felt attracted to me? Was he possibly? No… That can’t be….

The Next Morning

Kai didn’t have a schedule today, so he insisted that he follow me for the day. I let him follow me of course, and so I decided to go visit YoungJoo.

“Noona!”

YoungJoo exclaimed as he ran towards me.

“YoungJoo-yah!”

I exclaimed back as he ran into my arms. Kai just stared at me as I hugged YoungJoo.

“Noona…. Why is Kai hyung with you?”

He asked.

“Ah….. Umm… Kai hyung just wanted to visit you too and play with you.”

I said as I smiled. YoungJoo seemed excited as he heard me.

“Jinjja?! Kai hyung! Are you really going to play with me today?”

YoungJoo asked as he looked at Kai. Kai didn’t know how to respond, so I mouthed to him,

“Please… Just for today.”

Kai looked away and then back at YoungJoo.

“Ne…. Hyung is going to play with you today..”

Kai said in a monotone-like voice. YoungJoo’s smile grew wider as Kai agreed to play with him.

“Noona! I’m excited! I’ve always wanted to have a hyung to play with!”

He exclaimed.

“Hyung let’s go play with my Digimon toys!”

He exclaimed. Kai didn’t seem to reject my younger brother and went along with him.

“Agumon, use pepper breath!”

YoungJoo exclaimed as he attacked Kai’s digimon. Kai played along with YoungJoo and Kai seemed really happy. I’ve never seen him smile so brightly before.

After 15 minutes of playing, YoungJoo excused himself to the bathroom. Kai then turned towards me and said,

“I haven’t played with Digimon in so long….”

Kai said.

“I feel like I’m just a kid again.”

Kai continued as he smiles to himself. I smiled softly at him and then YoungJoo came back.

“Hyung! We should play hide and go seek!”

YoungJoo said enthusiastically. Kai smiled at YoungJoo and agreed. YoungJoo seemed so happy today as he played with Kai.

“Noona! You’re it!”

YoungJoo said as he went to go hide. Kai hid as well, so I played along.

“50…. Ready or not! Here I come!”

I said aloud. I looked around the house from closet, to bathroom, to bedroom, and under the bed.

“Aha! I found you YoungJoo-yah!”

I said aloud.

“Aww…. Let’s go find Kai hyung!”

YoungJoo said. I happily followed him and as we searched together, we searched in the closets once more.

“Hyung! Ahahahahaha! Hyung stop!”

YoungJoo exclaimed. I ran towards YoungJoo to find him being tickled by Kai.

“You found me!”

Kai said as he smiled and tickled YoungJoo…. I never thought I’d ever see Kai this way with children. He never seemed like the type to play with children….

A Half Hour Later

After 30 minutes, I had to leave for work.

“Miane, YoungJoo-yah… I promise I’ll visit if I have time, okay?”

I told YoungJoo.

“Ne… Come back soon! Hyung too! I want to play with Kai hyung some more!”

YoungJoo exclaimed. As Kai and I left, I looked at Kai and saw him smiling as he looks onto his phone. As I peeked over, I saw pictures of YoungJoo and him. I smiled and said,

“You must’ve grown fond of my brother, huh?”

I asked. Kai realized that I saw and put away his phone immediately. He cleared his throat and said,

“Aniya…. That was all fake…. I wasn’t really having fun with him.”

Kai said as he looked away.

“Whatever.. But Kai… Thank you..”

I said. Kai looked at me immediately and I continued,

“Thank you for playing with my younger brother when I asked you to. My younger brother, he’s such a caring child…. I don’t want him to live in sadness as a child, knowing that his parents died because of my money-wanting uncle. So I wanted to tell you, thanks… Thank you for making my brother happy today… I’ve never seen his so happy before.”

Kai POV

I looked at HyeRim and saw her smile as she thanked me. Her smile was just like an angel…. Since when did I become so attracted to her? Why is it that I want to see her smile just for me? Why do I feel so guilty when I see her sad face? Why?

As we arrived at HyeRim’s workplace, I sat at one of the tables and pondered in my thoughts as she worked. Her uncle…. YoungMin… He did some despicable things and I just ignored it. I just wanted HyeRim’s body and I didn’t care of what her uncle did. I thought of how sad she was and how much pain it was because of her uncle. I then realized at that moment, why was I thinking about her so much? Why is HyeRim always on my mind?

After HyeRim worked, I excused myself to go practice the choreography for EXO’s upcoming song. I sat in the practice room. Sweat trickled down my forehead as I practiced for hours. I was out of breath and exhausted as I looked at the mirror. Although, the whole time I practiced, HyeRim was on my mind the whole time. Her smile, her body, just all of her…. I realized right at that moment…. D-Do I possibly have feelings for her?

 Chanyeol POV

I decided to go visit HyeRim one last time today. What was wrong with her? Did Kai do something to her to make her this way?

*ding dong * *opens *

“Chanyeol….”

HyeRim said.

“HyeRim…. Can I come in?”

I asked. She nodded and let me inside.

“HyeRim…. Are you really okay? Did Kai do something to you? If he did something to you then I promise that I will do something about it! I promised.”

I said to her. HyeRim seemed frozen and replied,

“Chanyeol…. Why do you care so much about me? Why do you want to protect my brother and me so badly?”

She asked me.

“HyeRim…. It’s… It’s because I love you……”

I caressed her face, as she stood there wide-eyed. I pressed my lips against hers. Both of my hands caressed her face as I kissed her. She seemed too shocked to answer and too shocked to do anything, until *opens *

I released HyeRim from the kiss and turned around towards the open front door.

“Chanyeol…..”

He growled.

“Kai…”

I snarled back. Face to face we glared at each other…..

Was this going to decide who HyeRim will be with?
