Chapter Eighteen

03:15, 3 January 2020

Some people are worth melting for...

-Josh Gad (Olaf)

Percy's POV

Cold.

The only way to describe the white-walled room. In every aspect, cold was a way of description.

How was the temperature of the room? Cold.

Describe the hearts of people here. Cold.

What is the biggest thing you're feeling at the moment? Cold.

But in a heartbeat, I would choose this bitter cold to protect them. As long as I am alive, not a hair on their heads would be harmed by the hands of Kronos or his army. Blame my choices on my fatal flaw, I could care less.

However, loyalty only went so far to protect. Loyalty protected the camp and my family, while Kronos made sure it tortured me, hanging me by my wrists to ensure.

The pale, white door in front of me creaked open, snapping me from my dazed thoughts. For what I assumed was every day, the schedule put in place for me never changed: wake up to eat stale bread, let Kronos and his men have their way with me, pass out from said way, wake up to find myself miraculously healed, drink weird-tasting water, sleep.

Repeat.

Repeat.

Repeat.

Nothing taken out. Nothing added. Nothing changed. Only the days that passed by. And as those days went by, my wrists became smaller and smaller. Almost to the point of slipping out.

Now, Mr. Percy, you must be thinking. If you are so close to slipping out, why don't you just pull them out and escape this hellhole?

Well, Kronos may have lost two wars, but you have to place credit where it's due. He manipulated dozens of demigods to help him in the last war, and knew that the gods would be too busy with Typhon to assist us in the war. It was a battle strategy that could've fooled Athena and Ares.

Now I'm sure he's got something up his sleeve.

In addition, Gaea.

The prophecy stated that Earth and Time rose together. Whether they were allied or two different armies, we hadn't a clue. The possibility of me escaping only to return to a camp destroyed by Gaea was not a risk I would willingly take.

Suddenly, gentle hands unlocked my chained hands and lowered me down to the floor. Being underfed and dehydrated, my body barely stayed upright without any support.

I mumbled something unintelligible as the gentle hands addressed some of my most recent hits. It was the same lady and little boy that bought me the bread and water.

"Mama," the little boy said before continuing in a language I never heard. There was a faint hint of worry in the tone like the days before.

The lady replied in a scolding tone that would've made me laugh had I the energy. Unexpectedly, I felt her left up my head.

"Need energy, you. Come soon, them." The lady spoke in a broken English before giving me more bread and water.

Then she changed the dynamic.

After every encounter, she would secure the chains back onto my wrists. Only this time, she moved my hands behind my back as well as the unlocked chains.

Just as my vision began to fade once again, the lady and her child leave the pale white room. Almost as if they never existed.

A/N: short and unedited. I honestly had no idea where I was going with this one. I had a whole over thing planned out, but something changed and here we are.

Word Count: you probably don't even care xD
