Jupiter and Saturn

He led Violet up to the dropship where they had Jasper resting away from the others, as Finn joined Octavia and Monty sitting across from them at a small table, Violet taking a seat on the floor on the opposite side of the room.

"Found this in an abandoned car wreck." He pulled the bottle of alcohol out of his bag, passing it to Octavia.

"Disgusting, love it." Octavia grimaced at the taste of the alcohol, passing the bottle back to Finn.

He looked over at Violet, who was tying knots into an old rope she had found.

He lifted the bottle to his lip, pausing as somebody spoke.

"H-hey, can I get a hit of that?"

"Jasper!"

"Oh my god!"

Violet stood up, dropping her rope, as her and the others gathered around him.

"Let's start you off with something soft." Finn placed his left hand under Jaspers head, helping him lift enough to take a drink of water from the canteen.Violet stood on her toes, trying to look at Jasper.

"Come here." Finn placed the canteen down on the table, putting his arms around Violet, lifting her off the ground enough to see Jasper.

"Hey, Violet."

"Hi." She smiled.

She leaned down enough to give Jasper a hug, eager to see that he was okay.

"Welcome back, buddy." Finn smiled.

"Was that a dream or did I get speared?" He smiled weakly.

"You'll have a very impressive scar to prove it." Clarke came up the ladder, smiling to see Jasper awake.

"My savior!" Jasper greeted her.

"Thank you, for not dying. I don't think I could've taken that today." She smiled, with tears in her eyes.

"I'll try not to die tomorrow, too, if that's cool." Jasper joked, weakly.

Octavia put her hand on his leg, happy to see her friend was okay.

"Oh, hello!" He smiled, earning a laugh out of everyone and more smiles.

"Alright, let's let him sleep."

"Violet, I know you just slept like ten hours, so I don't expect you to sleep anytime soon." Finn nudged her arm, whispering, "Wanna go with me, exploring?"

She nodded, grinning eagerly.

"Come on, kid."

She walked over to where she had been sitting, grabbing the rope off the floor, and the bow and arrows she had made earlier off the table, shoving them in her pockets, and following Finn down the ladder.

Violets boots crunched against the fallen leaves in the campsite, not being able to see anything in front of her aside from what was above the newly built walls, that had been built after the grounders nearly killed Jasper.

Her feet stayed in one pattern, carrying her out the walls, and down the ridge, Finn walking besides her.

"You really don't know why your parents got floated?" Finn asked, his hands in his jacket pockets.

"Not really." She shrugged. "Don't you get curious?" "All the time, but I'm never going to figure it out." "Maybe you will." Finn tried to give her some hope."Maybe, I don't know."

"Come on, over here." She followed Finn through a few bushes, heading towards their right."Water." Violet could hear the sound of a stream."A river." Finn spoke, pushing a thick branch of thorns and leaves out of his way, holding it out of the way for her.

A different river from the one they found the seaweed the day or two prior was in front of them. It's white and pale rocks glistening in the moon light.

Finn moved ahead of her, taking off his jacket, laying it down on the rocks, and putting his bag down, untying it to lay it flat.

"There's fish!"

She was right, dozens of tiny, and big fat fish were in the river. She trudged into the water, going as far as chest deep into the icy water. She pulled an arrow out of her pocket, gripping it in her tiny fist. Finn laughed quietly, watching as she threw her first forward, trying to spear the fish, ultimately missing by a long shot.

Finn walked out with her, in the same spot as her, only having the water up to his hip area. She threw her hand through the water, missing another fish.

"Here, let me see."

She handed him an arrow, as he held it in his hand."Wait for the fish." He focused, "and hit it!" he dashed his hand through the water missing, as he stepped closer to where it had gone, missing again as he pushed his arm through the stream.

Violet flailed her arms around, loosing her balance as Finn knocked into her.

She fell back, her whole body underwater, as she found her footing, standing up and gasping.

Finn was laughing, pointing at her as he wheezed.

"FINN!"

She wiped her hands across her face, pulling her hair out of her eyes.

She groaned, pulling her hand back against the surface of the water, and back towards Finn, splashing him as he stopped laughing, and wiped the water out of his eyes.

"Oh, I really hope you can swim!" He burst into laughter, moving closer to Violet, as she threw her arms in front of her, swimming out deeper into the river, kicking her legs underneath her as she laughed.

She screamed, swimming away from Finn, her light brown hair soaking wet, and bangs covering her eyes.

Finn reached his hands out, grabbing her waist, dragging her towards himself.

"Hey!" She laughed.

Finn held her against the side of his hip, her arms wrapped around him. She laughed, resting her chin on his shoulder.

"I said I warned you." Finn barely held back his laughter, picking Violet up in the air, throwing her a few feet away from him, making a big splash.

She came back up, pushing her bangs out of her eyes, and swimming back towards him.

She laughed, telling him to do it again."One more time!" He laughed.

She hit the water with a splash, coming back up and once again, pushed her bangs out of the way.

"I think we need to something about those bangs." She laughed, nodding in agreement as Finn picked her up, and hugged her."Okay, come on."

The two of them came out of the water, soaking wet and bodies dripping, sitting down on the sand.

Violet pulled her boots and socks off, wringing them out and leaving them aside to dry, both of them laying down. "I can guarantee you, that, that-" he pointed to a bright star to the east, "is definitely Jupiter."

She giggled, pulling his finger across the sky, feeling like she could touch the stars above her. "That's Jupiter, that one," she pointed to the one he originally thought was Jupiter, "that's Saturn."

"How do you know this?"

"Four years in a cell, you learn stuff."

She sat up, her braid that had been barely hanging on for the past few days, had completely fallen out, the elastic band stuck in her hair.

He sat up, clearing his throat, "Here, sit still."He ran his fingers through her light brown hair, pulling the elastic out. He combed his fingers through her hair, reaching down to her lower back area. He managed to pull a few knots out of her hair, working through some rough sections, and finally pulling her hair into three sections, and pulling it together into a braid, tying it off with the elastic at the end.

He laid back down, letting Violet lay down, her head tucked between his shoulder and neck, observing the sky, both of them pointing out the different constellations, different planets, and a few different stars. Soon enough, the sun began to rise in the east, directly ahead of them, ending the hours they had spent in the water, fishing, and practicing arrow shooting and aim.

"Look! I got one!" Finn turned his head, watching as Violet pulled a wriggling fish out of the water, holding it in the air, yelling in victory.
