Two months later(I know, another time skip, but this is probably the last one before we get into the second movie)

I was folding mine and Mia's laundry when my phone started ringing.

It's been two months since everything happened in New England. I'm not gonna lie, I thought that Lucas wasn't going to try to keep talking to me after we left but if anything, he's been talking to me more. He's really doing everything to make it up to me even though he doesn't have to.

I've forgiven him for what happened with Rachel. Although it did really did hurt my feelings how he was kissing me one day and then saying I'm not his girlfriend the other, it'd be stupid to hold a grudge. I got over it and things are going good.

"Hello?" I answered my phone and heard someone sniffling on the other side.

"Abby?"

"Yeah, it's me. Sally, what's wrong?" I asked as I set down the clothes.

"T-There was an accident." I felt my stomach twist and I turned around.

"What happened? Is Lucas okay?" I asked frantically.

"Honey, he was in a car accident and he's in the hospital."

That one sentence made my heart stop and I felt like my whole world was turned upside down. I was speechless and my hand came up to my mouth as tears sprung my eyes.

"W-What?" I managed to get out.

"It's bad." she said and I could tell she was crying on the other line. "H-He had to be rushed to the emergency room a-and he's in surgery."

"O-Oh my god." I gasped as a sob ripped from my chest. "I-I'm gonna fly out right now."

"Okay but sweetie, I don't think you should bring Mia." she told me only making more tears fall.

"What? Why?"

"I don't want her to see him like that."

I nodded even though she couldn't see me. She has a point, I don't want Mia to worry.

"Okay, I-I need to find a flight Sally, bye." I hung up the phone and all but ran out of my room to find my dad. I found him in the kitchen with Roxanne and when he saw me he furrowed his brows.

"What's wrong Abby?" he asked.

"I-I need to borrow some money. Not some money, a lot of money." I managed to say as I wiped at my eyes.

"Of course you need money." Roxanne scoffed. "You just can't pay for your own things and you need your father to--"

"Lucas is in the fucking hospital you inconsiderate bitch!" I yelled at her through my tears. I looked at my dad whose face fell. "He was in a car accident and I can't afford a plane ticket out there. Please Dad."

"Okay, okay, calm down, I'll find a flight and you just go pack a bag." he told me. I nodded and turned to run back to my room but stopped in my tracks when I saw Mia standing there with tears glistening in her eyes.

"Lukey's hurt?" she asked.

"Baby--"

"Mama." her bottom lip wobbled and I knew I couldn't lie to her.

"Honey, I don't want you to worry okay?" I kneeled down in front of her with tears of my own. "I'm gonna go see him and I'm sure everything will be just fine."

"I go with you." she wiped at her eyes and I shook my head.

"No, no, you're gonna stay here. I can take you to stay with Theo or Kenzie but--"

"Please Mama." her tears started falling.

"Baby." I pulled her into my arms and she started crying into my neck. "Okay, okay, you can come with me."

I looked up at my dad who nodded and rushed out of the room to book the flights for us. I picked Mia up and brought her to my room. I set her on my bed and gave her one of her stuffed animals while I began to throw our clothes into a bag.

I can only hope and pray that Lucas is okay.

I held a sleeping Mia in my arms when I ran into the hospital that Sally told me they were in. I went up to the front desk.

"Hello ma'am how may I--"

"Where's Lucas Lamonsoff?" I asked frantically.

"Um, I'm sorry only family is allowed to see him." she told me.

"I-I need to see him." I choked out.

"I'm sorry but unless you are his family, you're going to have to wait till visiting hours tomorrow."

"Okay, okay." I looked around and tried to calm my breathing while gently rocking Mia back and forth. Suddenly I got an idea. "Okay, I'm his girlfriend and this is his daughter." I motioned to Mia.

She looked at me skeptically but sighed. "Room 306. He just got out of surgery."

I nodded and started making my way through the halls. I got out of one elevator and saw Sally and Eric standing outside of a room. They turned around and when they saw me their expressions turned to one of sympathy even though it's their son in there.

"Where is he?" I asked.

"He's in there, you can go in but he hasn't waken up yet." Sally said as she took Mia from me. I opened the door and brought a hand to my mouth when I saw him.

He was laying in the bed, his usual tan from always being in the sun now a pale white color. His hair was greasy and he had cuts and bruises all over his face. His left arm was in a cast and there was bandages on cuts all over his body.

"Oh my gosh." I walked over to him and brushed his hair out of his face. A sob escaped that I quickly tried to cover up. "Oh baby, I'm so sorry."

"The doctor said he should wake up within a few days." Eric said as he walked in with Sally following. Mia was still asleep in her arms which I was thankful for.

"How'd it happen?" I asked as I pulled myself together and wiped my eyes. I took Lucas's uninjured hand into my own. I stroked my thumb against his rough skin and tried to hold back tears.

"A drunk driver." Sally sniffled and bounced Mia up and down. "That's what the police said and of course the guy who hit him is perfectly fine."

"How'd he get hurt so bad?" I whispered more to myself as I touched his head.

"His car flipped and his windows shattered. All the glass cut him up and they said he couldn't even get out of the vehicle. And to think he was on his way to--" Sally cut herself off as tears welled up in her eyes.

"It's okay." I softly smiled at her. "We don't have to talk about it."

"No it's just--" Eric took a deep breath. "He was on his way to the airport. He was gonna fly out and surprise you guys. He missed you a lot."

My mouth went agape as tears flooded my eyes. I looked back at him and choked on a sob. God, he does not deserve this.

Two days have passed and Lucas still hasn't woken up yet. This morning though, he did squeeze my hand with whatever strength he had. Mia saw him once and she cried which made my heart hurt. She's scared he's never gonna wake up but we all know he will eventually, he just needs time.

"Lucas." I took a deep breath. I'm now alone in the room with him while Sally and Eric talk to a doctor. "I don't know if you can hear me, I've heard when people are in coma's they can hear what you're saying so maybe you can." I felt my eyes well up again. "You gotta wake up baby. Your parents are worried about you, Bean and Donna are scared, and Mia's terrified you're not gonna wake up. They all need you Luke."

I took a deep breath and intertwined my fingers with his.

"I need you, Lucas." I cried quietly. "I was an idiot for what happened last time I came out here. I do want a relationship with you and I'm sorry for saying you needed to prove yourself. You've made me happier than anybody ever has and I-I can't imagine my life without you. I can't believe I'm about to say this but--" my bottom lip wobbled as I looked at him, "I love you Lucas."

I leaned my head onto the bed next to his and started crying. I can't lose him.

- - -

A couple hours later and I'm still sat in the room but now the Lamonsoff family is here. Kurt stopped by with his family along with Higgins. When they saw Lucas they were just as upset about it. I'm not surprised, everybody loves him.

After they left I sat down talking with his siblings and Mia. A nurse brought paper and crayons to the room so Mia and Bean are drawing.

What made my heart hurt was when Mia went up to Lucas's bed and held up a picture.

"Can you help me mama?" she asked and patted the spot next to Lucas. I sighed and lifted her onto the bed, being careful of his IV. She got herself situated and held the paper in the air. "I drew you a picture Lukey."

I looked at Sally and Eric who were watching her with sad eyes.

"Look, dat's you and mommy holding my hands with lots of flowers." she pointed at the stick figures she drew. "I made the flowers blue, dats your favorite color." she looked at Lucas and frowned when he didn't respond once again. "Please wake up Lukey, I miss you."

I had to turn away so they didn't see the tears in my eyes. The next sentence she said really did it for me though.

"Come on, mama needs you cebause she loves you."

I pinched my eyes shut and inhaled a shaky breath. As I was about to head for the door to go get some air it opened and my jaw clenched when Rachel burst into the room.

I looked at Sally and Eric who were looking at her in confusion and anger.

"What are you doing here?" Sally asked, disgusted.

"Oh my god, Lucas." Rachel ignored the woman and went over to the side of his bed. I moved to stand behind Mia who was giving her a little glare that was adorable. That's my girl.

When Rachel put her hand on his cheek I resisted the urge to slap this bitch. I looked up and my eyes connected with Eric who made a punch gesture making me hide a laugh.

"What are you doing here?" Rachel asked me with a dirty look.

I crossed my arms over my chest. "Sally called me and told me about the accident. I flew out as quick as I could."

"He doesn't want you here, he said so himself you're not his girlfriend." she spat.

"That's funny considering he was on his way to the airport because he missed me." I smirked.

"You should just leave. He's gonna want to see me when he wakes up not you." she said smugly.

Eric snorted. "I doubt that."

Then suddenly Mia gasped catching my attention. I looked at her and saw Lucas's hand enclosed around her tiny one that had been resting on it.

"Mama! He's holding my hand!" she exclaimed. I moved to Lucas's side but Rachel leaned to hover over him before I could. Bitch.

"Lucas?" she cupped his cheek. "Lukey baby it's me."

And I'm never calling him baby again.

"Come on baby I'm right here. You're okay." she told him. Lucas's eyes fluttered open making me nudge Rachel out of the way a bit so I was a little closer to him.

"Lukey Pookie?" she asked making me inwardly gag. He lifted his hand and held her wrist making my face fall and I stepped back.

"Abby?" he questioned looking up at her. The look of offence on her face was priceless. She snatched her wrist away from him and looked at him in disbelief.

"Luke?" I moved to his side again and cupped his cheek.

"Babe, you're here." he sighed before closing his eyes in what seemed like relief.

"Yeah, I am." I smiled softly at him and kissed his forehead.

"Mom? Dad?" he looked at his parents who both rushed over to hug him. I smiled at them as Donna and Bean hugged him too. Mia patiently waited her turn which I'm very proud of her for. I know how much she just wanted to have his attention and give him a hug.

When his family stepped back he held his hand out to me. I took it and smiled at him.

"I love you." the minute the words left his mouth his parents and Rachel gasped.

Sally and Eric gasped in amazement while Rachel gasped in disgust.

I ignored the bitch and grinned at him. "I love you too."

He put his hand on my cheek and pulled me down to kiss him. I smiled and pulled away slightly because his family is in the room.

"Seriously!?" Rachel's voice made us look over. "You choose her? The bitch that got herself knocked up at 16 like a slut?"

"You know, I'm gonna politely ask you to leave my son's room and never use that language in front of my kids and granddaughter again." Sally said politely making me smile. She called Mia her granddaughter.

"Unbelievable." Rachel scoffed before storming out of the room.

I looked back down at Lucas who still hadn't taken his eyes off me. I smiled at him before Mia tugged on his hand.

"Lukey?" she whispered.

"Hi Princess." he weakly opened his arms and she hugged him. She laid her head on his chest and sniffled.

"Careful." I told her so she didn't hit his IV by accident. He wrapped his arms around her and cupped her head. He kissed her temple before she sat up.

"I made a picture for you." she held it up to him and he smiled.

"I love it." he brushed his thumb across the back of her hand.

"You really scared me Lukey." she told him.

He sadly smiled at her. "Im sorry baby. I promise I won't do anything like this again."

She nodded and laid her head on his chest. He looked at his family and smirked. "So what'd I miss?"

- - -

"You're an idiot." I laughed at Lucas as I laid in the hospital bed with him. I was curled into his side but still being careful of all of his cuts and IV's.

Lucas sighed and rubbed my side with the arm he has wrapped around me.

"You know, I was gonna fly out to see you." he said. I looked up at him.

"I know, your dad told me." I pursed my lips. "I'm so sorry Lucas. If you hadn't been going to see me then this wouldn't--"

"Please don't blame yourself." he cut me off. "It was my choice to want to fly and surprise you and Mia. Think about it, me getting in the accident brought you back didn't it?" he smirked.

I smacked his chest lightly. "Don't joke about that. You're lucky it was just one broken bone and some stitches. You could have been hurt way worse."

"I know, I know." he sighed before looking down at me. I brushed his hair out of his face making him smile. "So, what happened with Rachel yesterday? Why was she here?"

"She thought that when you woke up you'd want to see her and not me." I said making him scoff. "I know right, anyways she pulled the 'I'm not your girlfriend card' and told me to leave when your mom went out of her way to make sure I got here."

"Yeah, I'm sorry about her." he kissed the top of my head. "But she's history now. Over the last two months, the only thing I've thought about is you. She didn't cross my mind once so I don't know why the hell she thinks she could come here."

I rested my chin on his chest and looked up at him. "I love you."

A wide grin spread across his face. "God, I'm never gonna get used to hearing you say that." I laughed and nuzzled my face into his neck. "But, I love you more."

"Mm. I don't think that's possible." I taunted him. He turned his head and pressed his lips to my forehead for a few seconds.

"It most definitely is."

- - -

I paced anxiously in my room back home. After Lucas got discharged from the hospital, Mia and I stayed for an extra week. All in all, we were there for almost a month which Mia loved.

That got me thinking and I want to move out there.

With Lucas and I starting a new relationship, I want to be there. He wants to be more involved with Mia which is one of the things I love about him. Plus, she always seems so much happier when we go to New England.

Not that she's unhappy here, but when we're at home my dad and Roxanne don't make an effort to interact with her. Sally and Eric do, hell even Kurt, Deanne, and Higgins do. I don't want my daughter to grow up and think that the only people that care about her are all the way across the country or my friends.

The one thing I was cautious about when thinking about a relationship with Lucas was how Mia would be. Now, I know she loves him and anybody could tell you that but I don't want her to get super attached to him. That's why when she almost called him dad I became super anxious.

He was laying on his bed with her sitting up next to him. She was poking his cheek and then he'd poke her belly which resulted in a giggling fit from her. She had laid down next to him when it slipped. She went to say, I love you Lukey, but instead said I love you dad-ukey. I know he caught the slip up but he didn't say anything because she looked quite embarrassed about it.

So now here I am, trying to think of how I'm gonna tell Theo. I know the people I should be worrying about is my dad and siblings but it's him. If he says he doesn't want me to leave then I'm not going to.

Although he's more of my best friend in Mia's life, he still is an important male figure to her. He's been there since day one and I have never questioned his love for her for one second. And recently, he's been wanting to spend more time with her. He's just starting to step into that father role and if I'm being completely honest, I'm scared.

Mia sees Lucas as a dad. She sees Theo as Uncle Thee. I don't want him to get hurt because she almost called someone else dad.

"Hey Abby." I turned around and saw Theo walk into my room. "You said you needed to talk to me?"

"um, yeah." I scratched the back of my neck. "Sit down, please."

He took a seat on my bed and I stood in front of him. I took a deep breath and took his hands into mine.

"What's wrong?" he asked. "You look anxious."

"Um, you know about what happened with Lucas and the accident." I said and he nodded. "Well, we were out there for almost a month because I wanted to make sure he was okay before I left. Anyways, we made things official and we spent a lot of time together. We had a lot of fun with his family and him and I grew closer. Um, I--"

"Oh my god, you're not pregnant are you?" he asked with wide eyes and put a hand on my stomach.

I laughed a little and put my hand on his. "No, I'm not pregnant. One child is enough for now."

"Oh thank god." he took his hand back and I laughed. "I would have flown out to New England and beat his ass."

"That's coming from the guy that already got me pregnant." I smirked and he rolled his eyes.

"Whatever. If you're not pregnant, why did you call me over here?" he asked.

"I've been thinking a lot about several different things. I finish community college in a couple months, Mia turns four soon, Lucas and I are official, and everything's great."

"But..." he trailed off.

"But, I'm not happy." I admitted. His face fell and he put his hands on my hips. Not in a sexual way or anything.

"What? Why?" he asked. "I thought you love Lucas?"

"I do, I really do. And it's not him I'm unhappy with." I said. "But um, living here, with my dad and Roxanne, it's taking a lot out of me. Don't get me wrong, I'm forever grateful that my dad didn't kick me out when he found out I was pregnant and that he let Mia and I stay here. But it's different than when I'm at Lucas's house. Sally and Eric, they actually make an effort to talk to me and my daughter. And just seeing how happy Mia is out there, it makes me happy."

"So what are you saying?" he asked. I pulled my desk chair in front of him and sat down.

"I'm saying I want to move to New England." I spoke softly. His expression turned to one that I couldn't read. He let go of my hands and looked away from me. "Theo?"

"You're gonna leave?" he asked still avoiding eye contact. "Like forever?"

"Theo, if you don't want Mia and I to leave, I won't move." I told him. He sniffled and that's when I cupped his face and made him look at me. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"Nothing just-- do you realize how much I regret not being a father to Mia?" he asked as his eyes welled up. My face softened and he looked into my eyes. "And recently, I feel like things have finally been changing and she actually wants to hang out with me. I just thought-- nevermind."

"Theo, hey." I stopped him from standing up. "I-If you want to be a father to Mia that's okay. I can make that happen."

"Yeah, but I don't want it to be forced." he told me. "I want her to want me to be her dad but she doesn't. Not the way she wants Lucas."

"Theo, you're her father." I said sternly. "Nothing will ever change that and nobody can ever replace you in her heart. I don't think you realize how much she loves you. Especially recently, she's been talking about you a lot."

"Really?" he asked with a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

I softly smiled at him. "Come here." I grabbed his hand and pulled him down the hall to Mia's room. We went inside and thankfully she was out playing with Becky. I brought him to one wall where she had a bunch of pictures.

"Look at that one." I pointed at one and held onto his arm with a smile. He reached out and ran his fingers over it as his eyes welled up again.

"It says 'my daddy'." he choked out.

"See Theo." I smiled up at him. "She does think of you as her dad. And she might not say it out loud or call you dad but she loves you like one. Nothing can change that, not even Lucas."

"But didn't you say that she almost called him dad?" he asked.

I sighed and nodded. "Yes, she did. But he's not the one that she talks about to her teachers. On days where I have you pick her up, her teachers will tell me the next day how excited she was to spend the day with her daddy. That's you, not him."

He looked down at me and smiled. "She really thinks of me as her dad?" I nodded my head. "But, if you move, how am I gonna keep that relationship with her?"

I sighed heavily and ran a hand through my hair. "I don't know." I admitted. "But I promise, I will facetime you every day if I have to and I will tell her everyday how much you love her."

"What if I moved too?" he suddenly blurted out.

"What?" I asked in disbelief. "Theo, I can't let you just leave everything for us."

"You don't have to let me." he turned to me with a smile. "I got into Walden University."

I laughed happily at him. "Seriously?"

"Yeah." he grinned. "I was waiting for a time to tell you but I guess now's the right time. It's not too far from New England and I'd be able to see you guys like everyday."

"Wait a minute-- Lucas goes to Walden." I realized.

"Even better!" he clapped making me laugh. I pulled him into a hug which he happily reciprocated.

"You know I love you right?" I asked him.

"I know, a lot of people do." he smirked making me smack him in the head.

Theo and I have been bestfriends since seventh grade. We've done everything together, even lose our virginities which was not meant to happen but we got drunk and it did. Anyways, he's always gonna be special to me and not just because he's Mia's father.

He's helped me through some pretty tough times and I don't know what I'd do without him.

"Yeah, yeah, I love you too Abs." he laughed. "Don't tell Lucas I said that or he might just murder me."

"Oh my god."
