Chapter 142

04:54, 18 January 2015

Conor’s POV

“I need to talk to you” Eleanor snaps me out of my trailing thoughts when she throws her body onto the sofa beside me.

I groan, “El, I’m not driving you to the shop for food again. We’ve already been three times”

“No, it’s not about that” she shakes her head. “It’s about Lucy”

“We’re not talking about it” I sigh, starting to stand up in my seat.

Lucy took everything way too far last night. I thought I’d try and be a decent person  and just let her know that she can get ten times better than the asshole she’s dealing with, but then she tried to make a move on me. She has a boyfriend though, come on. If he wasn’t in the way of things then I wouldn’t have even thought about pushing her away.

And no, I didn’t do that for Nick. God, the temptation was unreal but I knew she’d regret it straight after the kiss and then most likely blame me for it. That would just make the rest of the week awkward.

And that’s another thing... After this week, I’m probably hardly ever going to see her again. I’m not fucking about with a long distant relationship. I have a busy life now and I’m lucky I have nothing going on this week besides my concert tomorrow.

“Yes we are. She’s upset about it, you know?” El frowns.

I roll my eyes, “Has she told you the whole story?”

“Yep”

“Well then you’d know that if I did actually kiss her, she’d regret it and blame it on me. Don’t disagree with me because we both know I’m right” I shrug. Eleanor looks away for a moment in deep thought before nodding.

“I guess you’re right” she nods. “But you did do it in a bit of an asshole way”

“What other way could I have done it in? If I was nice to her about it, I might have ‘lead her on’” I say sarcastically with an eye roll.

Okay, I might have slightly lead her but I was only trying to get her to break up with that moron back in Manchester. She would’ve never listened to me otherwise. At least I know that she actually doesn’t care about him seeing as she tried to kiss me.

“You did lead her on a bit” Eleanor shrugs.

“Force of habit” I raise my eyebrows at her and she just rolls her eyes.

“Whatever, you need to talk to her about it”

“Yeah, yeah” I blow her off. “Leave it with me”

I guess I do have to sort things with her seeing as I’ll be living with her for the remainder of the week. And she’s stubborn as fuck so she won’t be talking to me anytime soon.

Fucking hell, I feel like I’m sixteen again.

-

“All aboard the Jack-mobile” Jack calls as everyone piles out of the house.

“Jack, it’s my car” I frown, watching him make his way to the driver’s seat in my Range Rover. Lord knows how we’re all going to fit into these two cars. “Right, we need to sort seating plans” I decide to responsibly announce.

“I’m in the Lamborghini” Matt raises his hand, making me chuckle slightly. I feel lucky that the car holds 4 and I don’t have the 2 seater one. Although the 2 seaters are much cooler.

“So Jack’s driving the Range Rover. How about Eleanor, Lauren, Marie and Adam get in that?” I suggest. The adults would want to sit together in a more comfortable car, right? “And me, Matt, Lucy and Mum get in with me. Anna can sit on Mum’s knee”

“Aw, I wanted to go in that car” Eleanor huffs.

“Stay with your boyfriend” I roll my eyes.

“Anna can’t sit on your knee. These cars go pretty fast, you know?” Matt says to my Mum as Anna climbs over to sit on her knee.

“It’s either that or she’s in the boot” I shrug and he just nods, understandingly. “Besides, I can drive pretty well”

I turn to my left when Matt starts to get into the back of the car, when I see Lucy walking towards me.

“Surprised you’re not complaining about being in the same car as me” I scoff.

“I’m going to be in a Lamborghini. You being in it won’t be a problem” she sends me a false smile, climbing into the passenger seat. I roll my eyes and walk around the car to get into the driver’s seat.

“Follow me down” I wind down my window to Jack and he gives me a quick nod before starting his engine.

He’s going to have trouble trying to catch up with me.

“So how far is it to the beach, Conor?” Matt asks me.

“Around twenty minutes but I reckon we could make it in ten” I shrug, pulling my seatbelt across my body and clipping it in. I adjust my rear view mirror before speeding off down my drive and down the long road that leads up to my house.

I haven’t stopped laughing at Matt the entire journey so far. He’s having far too much fun. He asked me about taking off the roof but I couldn’t risk it with Anna sat in the back. Police will pull me over and management would probably kill me.

We pull up to a red light, the car stopping almost immediately.

“Jesus Christ, Conor. You need to slow down” Mum breathes. She’s never been a fan of this car. Well, she loves it but doesn’t like the fact that I’m driving it.

“Mum, chill out. There’s no point in having the car if we’re not going to go fast” I smirk. “Ain’t that right, Lucy?” I raise an eyebrow as I turn to her.

“Don’t talk to me” she says monotonously, making me laugh. God, I really have pissed her off from yesterday.

Mum groans, “Conor, what have you done now?”

“Nothing!” I raise my hands in defence. “She’s annoyed that I ate the last Pot Noodle”

“Well you’ll have to buy some more” she frowns and I roll my eyes. Lucy’s smile grows wide as Mum says this, until the light turns green and I speed off down the road again.

I can’t even see Jack anymore but I know he’ll figure out the way from all the times he’s been here in the past. Besides, there’s a built in SatNav in the damn car so he’ll struggle getting lost.

We arrive at Venice Beach in a record breaking time of 7 minutes. Matt was timing me to see if my theory about us getting there in 10 minutes is true.

“You actually did it” he gasps. “I’m proud of you, son”

“Told you I could” I smirk as we all pile out of the car. Lucy immediately wonders off so I keep my gaze on her whilst keeping my eye out for Jack’s arrival. Fucking hell, this is hard. “Mum, could you keep an eye out for Jack a sec?”

“Yeah, sure” she nods. I flash her a smile before jogging after Lucy.

“Where are you going?” I frown as I reach her side.

“I’m just standing here. I wanted a closer look of the beach” she shrugs, leaning against the sea wall thing.

“Right” I nod.

“This beach is incredible” she sighs, scanning her eyes across her view. I turn away from her and look around.

“It’s just a beach” I frown.

“It’s rare that you find a nice hot beach in the UK” she chuckles slightly.

“Yeah, I guess” I nod. I guess this place is nice. I don’t appreciate it much.

I hear a gasp from beside me, “Conor?”

I turn to my left and see a young, blonde girl smiling widely at me with her friend. They both look very similar.

“Hey” I smile, assuming they’re fans. I turn to Lucy and see her looking at the scene in complete shock, but the smile is very clear on her face.

“Hi” the young girl giggles. “Can we get a picture?”

“Of course you can” I chuckle as she pulls out her phone. I put my sunglasses on top of my head and bend down to her height so she can take the picture. After taking pictures with the two of them, I put my sunglasses back on and smile. “What are your names?”

“I’m Emily” the first blonde smiles.

“And I’m Anna” the other nods.

“Very nice” I chuckle. “My sister’s called Anna, you know?”

They both just giggle as a response.

“Well Emily, Anna. It was lovely seeing you” I smile. “But I’ve got to see my mates now so I’ll see you two around”

“Okay, thanks for the picture” Anna smiles widely.

“Sure, no problem. Thanks for coming over” I chuckle. I actually love it when people that listen to my music come over to me and ask for pictures and stuff. It’s pretty cool.

“Woah” Lucy gasps as they both walk away.

“What?” I frown.

“Do you always get that?”

“Yeah, pretty much” I nod. It’s hard to nip to the shop for some chocolate without being noticed.

“That was so cool” she squeals, making me chuckle. Her smile falls and she gives me a stern look, “This doesn’t mean I like you”

“Sure thing, Luce” I smirk, walking back towards my Mum when I hear her calling me. I’m guessing Jack’s arrived.

“And we were going at least 90mph. It took us seven minutes to get here, you know?” I hear Matt blabbering on to Adam, Lucy’s Dad.

“Fucking hell, we lost you as soon as you left your drive” Jack frowns at me, making me roll my head back in laughter.

“You knew the way” I shrug.

“It’s fucking hard to concentrate with her snapping at me every few seconds for losing you” he mutters, referring to Eleanor.

“What was that?” she raises an eyebrow, turning to us. I just raise my hands in defence but she still shoots me a glare. “Where’s Lucy?”

“Down there” I nod towards where she’s stood.

She’s still as beautiful as she was when I first met her. She hasn’t changed a bit. Even her personality’s pretty much the same. I love it.

“Conor” Jack snaps his fingers in my face. “Fucking hell, I thought I lost you then”

“What?” I shake out of my thoughts.

“Are we going?” he holds out his hands.

“Oh yeah,” I nod “let’s go”

-

We’ve spent a whole day on the beach and I’m fucking desperate to go home. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a pretty good day but 6 hours here? I’m practically dead. The only people still loving life are Eleanor, Lucy and Anna.

“Take me home” Jack groans, falling back on his towel that he’s laid out on the sand.

“I’m fucking burnt to a crisp” I scowl, glancing at my red arm.

“Didn’t you put sun cream on?” he chuckles.

“No” I shrug and he just rolls his eyes. “I think I’d throw up if you had to slap my back right now”

“Don’t tempt me” he rolls his head back in laughter.

I pull my shirt over my head and sit up in my place, suddenly feeling a wave of relief wash over me as the girls make their way out of their water. Don’t get me wrong, I could watch Lucy in that water all day long, but not when my back’s peeling like a freaking banana.

“Are we going?” I look up to her and ask.

“Yeah, I think so” she breathes, leaning down to pick up her towel.

I immediately drag my eyes away from her seeing as her parents are sat right next to me and I’m checking out their hot, half naked daughter, thinking things I’d be ashamed to say out loud. Why the fuck did I ever cheat on her? I honestly didn’t realise how lucky I was.

“Damn, Lucy. You look smoking” Jack smirks at her, nudging me in the process and wriggling his eyebrows at me.

“I’m sat right here, Jack” her Dad mutters from beside me.

Sure, Jack would get away with saying that.

“Jack!” she gasps, covering her body. Damn it.

Eleanor coughs and raises an eyebrow at her boyfriend.

Maybe he didn’t get away with it.

“Eleanor, it was only a joke” he pulls a face and she just rolls her eyes.

“Can we go already?” I sigh, standing up in my place. Watching Lucy dry herself isn’t a safe place for me to be in.

“Calm down” she frowns.

“You’re taking the piss getting ready” I snap. I realise I’m being harsh but I’d rather her kill me for that than kill me for checking her out. I should count myself lucky that her parents didn’t hear me snap at her like that.

She just shakes her head at me and continues to dry her hair and body.

Everyone begins to gather their things together and we all eventually get to the cars.

“I’m in the Lamborghini this time” Lucy Dad calls. I give him a nod and he starts to walk over to me.

“Right, how about we switch it up a bit?” I shrug. “Adam, Eleanor and Lauren with me?”

“Hell fucking yeah” Eleanor cheers.

“Eleanor” Lauren scolds her.

“You better drive fast, Maynard” she points at me and I give her a quick salute.

“Everyone else with Jack” I suggest and everyone just mumbles an agreement.

“Are you sure you can find your way back?” Eleanor looks at Jack sympathetically.

“Don’t give me that look. I’ll race you back” Jack challenges and I just shrug. He’s not got a fucking prayer.

We all pile into the cars and I immediately speed off back home, obviously beating Jack. I don’t know what he was thinking. How could a Range Rover beat a Lamborghini?
