Chapter 6

11:08, 30 March 2021

"I didn't mean to." I whispered drunkenly as I was set carefully into the passenger seat of James's car. He was kneeling while putting on my seat belt.

"You didn't meant to what?" James asked while the seat belt clicked.

"I didn't mean to kiss him. He kissed me. I was the victim." I said seriously and grabbed a handful of James's shirt in my hand and then started giggling while looking at James's shocked face. He rolled his eyes as he didn't see the humor in the situation.

"Boo, you didn't laugh. I was joking. You're suppose to laugh at jokes." I whispered seeing his profile again as he looked forward rather than at me. James smiled sadly as he glanced to me and then stood up. He shut the door beside me as I saw a bunch of people getting into cars together and Kendall, Logan, and Dustin were getting into Carlos's jeep. I guess they were like me and too drunk to drive. James made his way to his side and opened the door.

"I've got Liz in with me." James said to Carlos who was speaking to James with the window down from the drivers seat of his Jeep.

"Hey Liz! You okay?" Carlos shouted so I could hear from James's door. I swallowed a lump in my throat and then leaned over close to the open door.

"I didn't mean to!" I shrieked feeling I guess guilty even while drunk. James shifted in his stance as he gripped the door frame of the driver's side door.

"She didn't mean to what?" Carlos asked James confused with squinted eyes.

"Logan." Was all James said as he got in. Carlos seemed to have nodded as I looked beside me where James slammed his door shut after sitting down.

"Are you mad at me?" I asked him sounding like a child. James put on his seatbelt and then was the first one out of the driveway in a sea of cars and headlights. "Ow." I groaned at the headlights of cars coming the other way.

"Why would I be mad?" James asked amused, I could see in the glow of his dash lights that he was smiling slightly.

"Because I kissed Logan." I said sticking out my bottom lip like I was pouting about my choice in decisions. James smirked fully then as his eyes watched the road in front of us.

"What you do with Logan is up to you and him. I don't need, or want a say in that." James said definitively with a gentle shaking of his head. I leaned back in the seat, watching the lights of the city pass by as we were quiet a moment. I then had enough silence to hear the radio quietly in the background.

"Is this classical?" I asked obnoxiously a little too loud and a little too excited. James snorted and then laughed.

"Yes." He said turning it up for me. The violin was the most predominate instrument being played and I really liked the sound of it. My hands began to float in the air as if I were dancing in my seat. It was very strange as James continued to chuckle at my classical music dancing.

"It's pretty." I whispered to James as I leaned in closer to him, over the middle console as I smiled and breathed on his cheek practically.

"Your breath reeks of Jack Daniels." James whispered back, with a smirk. I instantly frowned and felt my eyes fall from his profile.

"Gotta ruin a nice moment of beauty." I said pouting and slightly grumbling.

"I'm sorry." James said a little more serious as he didn't look to me again. By the time I was nearly passing out, I could hear James call Carlos to ask where I lived, and before I knew it we were there shortly.

"Okay, let's get going." James said after coming around to my side of the car to help me out.

"Where are we going?" I asked as if I was a nine year old child looking around the parking lot of my apartment building lazily.

"Home." James said matter of factly as I stood to my feel and almost fell into him.

"Whoa, slow down. We have all night, no need to rush." James informed me grabbing my waist forcefully, as I gripped onto his shoulders. My body felt as though it weighed a thousand pounds suddenly as I was barely able to walk with James's help.

"I'm really tired." I complained as we approached the stairs of my building. I didn't want to climb them, but I wasn't going to suggest James carry me, as that wasn't an option obviously. He may be strong, built like a god, but he wasn't that strong to carry someone like me.

"I know, let's just take you up to your apartment, and then you can go to sleep." James instructed, as he practically clutched into me as we started on the stairs. We walked up the flight of stairs carefully, holding one another even though I knew James could walk normally. He grabbed my purse from what seemed to be out of nowhere and grabbed my key. I was leaned against the wall until he pulled me into him again. He opened the door and led me into the familiar apartment.

"Don't let Oliver out!" I exclaimed a little too loud for three in the morning. But I didn't know my neighbors, so my drunken behavior didn't phase me even slightly.

"Who's Oliver?" James questioned, as he looked down at me. I pointed to the cat food on the counter. "Crap." James mumbled, setting me on the couch and then running to shut the front door. Oliver came running from the kitchen, past James at the front door, and jumped up on my lap.

"Hi baby." I whispered obnoxiously, petting his vibrating cheeks, getting tickled by his whiskers. James came back and took off the leather jacket he had on. He sat on the other end of the couch after turning on some lights.

"How are you feeling now?" James asked with a huff as he was on the edge of the cushion. I shrugged.

"I could puke. But I'm tired." I said again being very honest. James's eyes widened and then nodded.

"Okay, could go either way then." He said mainly to himself. He then stood once again and went into the kitchen, fussed through cabinets, and eventually came back with a glass of water and pain meds. "Take these." He instructed and I did as told. He sat back down, but this time closer to me than before.

"I'm really tired." I whispered laying back on the couch, Oliver curled in my lap, purring away.

"You wanna go to your bedroom?" James asked then. I just simply laid back and rested my head on his shoulder. "Or stay right here." He mumbled instead seeing as I was comfortable now.

"I didn't mean to." I said sleepily, nuzzling into the shoulder I was using as a pillow.

"I know, you didn't mean to kiss Logan." James said back calmly as if that was what I meant this time. I shook my head slightly.

"No, I didn't mean to drink. I'm sorry." I whispered apologetically before feeling my consciousness fade away.

"It's okay." Was the last thing I heard before falling completely asleep. What seemed like ten hours later, was only two hours later, as I was up in an urgent manner. I hurried into the bathroom and kneeled before the toilet. My hair had fallen out of it's updo I don't know when, and my scarf fell down my back. Before I could do anything about any of it, a hand rested on my shoulder and took my hair into another. The hand rubbed my shoulders as my stomachs contents revealed themselves again.

As I finished, absolutely no shame in what I had just done in front of someone like James as I was still pretty out of it, James started a shower for me and said he'd be in the living room. He then also instructed me to leave the bathroom door unlocked just in case. I got in the shower and hurried because my weakening being was not going to last long before falling over. I finished up and got into some yoga pants and a tshirt. I stumbled out of the bathroom to see James on the couch with Oliver on his lap. Upon seeing me, James moved my Kitty who protested with a meow to the floor. He hoped up then and came to my aid.

"C'mon." James whispered, and then gently helped me into an awaiting bed. On my bedside there was a pain medication bottle, water, saltine crackers, a trashcan, and a banana. James assisted me in sitting on the mattress before I flipped over, groaning happily that I was now in bed.

"Banana?" I asked as James pulled the covers over me. He smiled down at me from where he stood. His teeth were so beautiful.

"They help me when I have a hang over, which I'm assuming you'll have a huge one later today." James sympathetically as he was moving wet hair off my face. "I'll leave my number in your phone just in case. Call me if you need a babysitter or a nurse." James winked before standing up straight and turning out the light. He then left me in my room and I heard him lock the door and shut it. I smiled to myself at how nice he was being even though I was completely out of it.

I fell back asleep, and thankfully I didn't work weekends, so I was perfectly fine sleeping in until one in the afternoon the next day. I groaned waking up because my ears were ringing, my skull throbbing, and my forehead felt as if it was going to explode. Oliver was still asleep at my feet, so I tried to not disturb him. I grabbed the meds and popped some in my mouth and swallowed them with water. Then I grabbed the banana and actually remembered surprisingly what James had said about hangover cures. And if it was true, I sure was going to need the help.
