Chapter 4

Zooble looked sideways at Gangle, who was grinning.

It seemed apparent that they were the only ones who noticed what Jax said.

"Alright, guys. I think we've had a long enough day. See you tomorrow." Ragatha walked off, smiling lightly.

Jax tucked his arms behind his head. "Yeahhh, I think hell was exciting enough for one day." He glanced back as he walked away and smirked. "Night, Pompom."

Pomni grinned, waving and walking back to her room.

When it was just Gangle and Zooble, they turned to her and crossed their arms. "Is it just me, or was Jax... flirting?"

Gangle laughed quietly. "Whatever it was, I want to see more."

Zooble raised an eyebrow, and Gangle blushed. "I- I mean... but they're so cute!!"

They rested a hand (claw thingy idk) on her shoulder. "Sounds like someone I know..."

They both went red, Zooble pulling away.

&#$@, &#@$, &#$& I SAID THAT OUT LOUD NOOOOOO

"Ummm... night, Gangle." They quickly walked away, not noticing the heartbroken look on her face as they turned away.

Gangle slowly walked back to her room, frowning.

Did I do something wrong? That was so sweet, and then they just... walked away...

That night, Gangle didn't sleep. She lost herself in her drawings, not giving another thought about that day.

The next morning, surprisingly, was quiet.

Caine didn't immediately call them on an adventure, and nothing really happened.

One by one, they filed out to the couch area and just talked for a while, enjoying the rare peace.

Jax looked over at Pomni, who wore a lopsided grin as she listened to Zooble complain about them working together too well during the gun fight.

"That was &#$&@$# terrifying. You almost matched Gangle's maniacal laugh. Almost."

Next to them, Gangle giggled, not looking up from her sketch.

"I did wonder..." Ragatha laughed. "How in the world did Jax manage to convince Pomni to start running around shooting people? That was definitely a change in... morality."

Jax grinned. "It wasn't that hard. She came up with the whole evil persona." He laughed. "Though, it wasn't very convincing. I mean, 'Righty-o, evil bro?' Where the hell did that come from?"

Her head turned towards him slowly. "You agreed. To never mention that again."

He rested his chin against his fist and batted his eyes innocently. "Whoops, did I? I can never remember."

"Righty-o, evil bro? I'm sorry, can we just talk about that for a second?"

"Nope. Moving on... why the &#$@ did Gangle want the tommy gun? Now that was out of pocket."

Gangle looked up and shrugged. "It sounded fun. And I was right. It was awesome."

"And it was kinda hot..." Zooble muttered, only Pomni looking up at them.

"It was what!?"

Jax and Gangle looked over at Zooble, who's face was now red. They quickly recomposed themselves and raised an eyebrow at Pomni. "What? I didn't say anything."

"Mhm. But yeah, honestly, that adventure was pretty fun." She grinned, her teeth sharp.

Jax smiled. She was honestly kind of cute when she tried to be evil.

What. Did he just use cute to describe Pomni?

The lack of adrenaline that morning must have been getting to his brain.

Right?

Of course, the quiet couldn't last long.

Soon, Caine came teleporting into the lobby.

They all groaned.

"Now, now, my circus cast! I think you'll find this adventure to be your favorite yet!"

"Doubt it." Jax muttered in Pomni's ear. She held back a laugh.

"For today, I'm sending you outside the digital world! Well... kind of. I've gathered enough data about you all to know your past names and what you looked like! This adventure has been a work in progress, so let me know if you have anything you want to change! Remember, my door is always open!"

To prove his point, his snapped his fingers, and a door about thirty feet off the ground swung open.

"Just step into my office if you have a suggestion."

Everyone was shocked into silence.

"Hold on. You mean to tell us that you recreated Earth?"

"Yup! Now go!"

A portal opened in front of them, and, for a minute, none of them moved.

"So... we'll... we'll look like humans? And have human names?" Pomni looked up, her eyes wide.

"Yes! What about this is difficult to grasp? Go, before I send you on a different adventure!"

At this, they all ran for the portal.

After a second of falling, they woke up on a sidewalk, a big, flashing sign labeled "Casino" above them.

And they weren't cartoons.

... and that's chapter 4!!!
