61. Keya
09:40, 9 May 2024The whole Roger's Place is filled with colors of victory green and white of the Dallas Stars jerseys, and black and yellow of the Pittsburgh Penguins jersey worn by fans...
This is my first Stanley Cup Championship game ever, and I am not going to lie that ever since Tyler and I got together he's been convincing me to learn and love his sport. And obviously, I'm trying. He definitely knows that I'm a football fan, of course, coming from Europe myself.
I'm currently seating here at the Executive suite looking down on the rink watching my man together with Sky and the rest of Tyler's family. Although I'm still trying to learn the sport, the nervousness is up in the roof knowing that we're on the third period now with a tied score of two.
Tyler wants to win this championship so bad, and I admire him so much how he dedicates himself to his team, to the city of Dallas and to his fans. He is not just an amazing hockey player, but he's an amazing human!
The first time of knowing him was a disappointment, and that I thought he is indeed a huge asshole, a jerk! You name it. But I guess there are some of us that became the worst version of ourselves when life throws major unjustifiable shits on our way that we know we don't deserve.
Tyler is a great man, he just got used and got played at.
Everything that have happened was a great lesson not just for him but also for me. My life changed a ton when he got me pregnant and gave me my Sky. I still find it funny how this man who gets surrounded by way too many women chose me!
"I would totally nurse up my boyfriend for the whole summer if they lose tonight!" Kate, Jamie's girlfriend who's seating next to me voiced out as she stares on the rink nervously. "I'm willing to drop everything just to make him feel better."
I looked at her. "Is he that demanding when they lose?"
I mean I get it, of course it is totally disappointing and heartbreaking to think of losing the game when you're way too close to winning. I knew that Dallas Stars have been into that kind of situation for a few times but the level of disappointment builds up each season, as what Tyler told me last night.
He's been very anxious about tonight's game, I can really tell. He was even shaking when he left our hotel room this morning for their last early scrimmage of the season.
"No." Kate says. "But Jamie tends to love se-- you know," Kate stops in mid-sentence as she realizes that my son is just seating right next to us "... as a therapy everytime he loses a game."
"Really?" I said..
She nods. "Don't tell me Tyler isn't like that?"
I only shake my head. Because the truth is, every time he gets home from losing a game he just normally tells me how disappointed he is and then proceeds to go bond with his son and rests. I'm just the one who offers to distract him and stuff! But it doesn't mean that he declines, he even loves it.
Our sex life has been very outstanding and even better the longer we've been together. I can't even imagine life not having Seguin with me, it's crazy because I used to wanting him out of my life but now it's already the other way around.
We focused ourselves on the game again, this time my heart skips a bit when the other team attempted a slapshot, thankfully Kudobin was fast enough to block the puck.
I let out a loud exhale. "That was close!"
"Go daddy!" My son shouts as Tyler steals the puck from the opponent team skating his way to the offensive zone.
One minute left on the clock until the end of regulation, everybody is already on their feet waiting for whichever horn to sound. My heart skips faster than usual as the Stars passing the puck towards one another looking for a chance to snap a shot, not wanting the opponent team to steal the puck out from them.
Alex passes the puck towards Jamie, and instantly the team captain himself flicked his stick aiming for a goal but was deflected. Thankfully Tyler was able to steal the puck again and he didn't wait for anything and just snapped a shot right away.
And with that, the whole arena shakes from the crowd's cheer and from the sound of the horn!
Stars won...
Tyler won...
I wasn't able to react right away in complete shock!
"Mommy!! Daddy won! Daddy won!" My son shouts jumping.
"Oh my god!" I finally exclaim out of excitement and complete excitement.
Kate shouts and we both shared a hug celebrating the win of our boyfriends. Everybody in the executive lounge we're jumping shouting and hugging each other.
Tyler's mom Jackie and his Dad Paul came to hug me and Sky real tight shouting like crazy for the win! Carrying my son as we both stare on Tyler holding the huge Stanley Cup on his hands as he skates around the rink, I couldn't be more prouder than I already have!
This is an iconic night not just for me but for my son as well. This is me and Sky's first Stanley Cup Championship Game and his Dad happen to win! What an amazing experience!
Later on, all of us families are called to come down at the rink to celebrate the win. Sky was too damn excited that he found his Dad right away and he run towards his father on the ice first without me, Tyler immediately saw him and carries him instantly!
"Daddy!!" He shouts.
"We won!!!" Tyler shouts matching our son's energy. When he spots me, he immediately came towards me and kissed me earnestly not caring if thousands of people are staring at us.
"Congratulations my love!" I said hugging him real tight.
Photographers then took a series of pictures of us and some other cameraman are focusing on the three of us. This part of Tyler's life is still kind of hard for me to adjust on, but I'm trying to get used to it too.
Jamie, Alex and some other teammates of Tyler came to me too and I said my congratulations to them!
"Thanks to your baby-daddy! He is the savior of the game! This is his night!" Jamie commenting.
"Stop that, you'll make his ego even bigger." I said chuckling.
"And also yours." Alex says.
"What do you mean?" I ask not minding what he says. "This is his."
"No. It's for you two." Alex says further but instead of looking at me, he is looking behind my back.
And as I turn around, I saw Tyler getting something from one of their training staff and skated towards me. And before I recognized what it is, Tyler suddenly kneels in front of me. My jaw literally dropped on the floor as I saw him opening a black velvet box with a diamond ring inside it.
"Keya..." He starts. I'm glued on my feet unable to move.
"We started this whole thing in a very crazy and bad way. But even if that did happen between us, I was thankful that it happened that way. Because if not, I won't be where I am now. Thanks to you! Thank you for coming into my life and turning things right for me." He says staring straight to my eyes.
Tears starts running down my face, and so was in his.
"Thank you for giving me my son. Thank you for giving me another chance to love and cherish you. I love you so much! And I couldn't imagine life without you anymore." He says and took a deep breathe. "Will you spend the rest of your life with me, my love? Will you marry me?"
I didn't hesitate. I said, "Yes!! Yes!! Yes!! "
Tyler shoves the ring on my finger and it's the best thing in the world. Tears just keep running down on my face as he stands up and give me the sweetest kiss I could ever imagine.
"I love you Keya Grayston!" He whispers.
"I love you my Tyler Seguin!"
The whole crowd cheers including every one that was on the rink, I forgot that we're on the middle of a Stanley Cup Win celebration! The whole proposal seems like there's only Tyler and I in the world. Tyler carries Sky holding the two of us.
Life is so good. Pretty good! And I know that whatever comes our way we can conquer it together.
Because we are family!
Family.
