Vi

I held up my right fist as I held onto Jinx's neck with the other, I tried not to pay attention to the deflated look in her eyes as I got ready to punch as hard as I could. I picture Layla and Vander and Mylo and Claggor and Ekko and Caitlyn, remembering why we were doing this. Why this had to be done.

But I faltered as she started speaking, "Go on, I'm ready... I'm glad it's you. Had to be you. But just...tell Lay, tell her I'm sorry." My breathing turned ragged as her words repeated in my head on a loop. Just like before, I looked down at her and I didn't see Jinx, I saw Powder. But this Powder was tired and wanted for it to be all over because she knows what she's done. My heart burned as emotions swelled up inside me, I pulled back my fist but a little body got in between Jinx and I. I was suddenly up close to a gun pointed only inches in front of my eyes, I loosened my grip on Jinx's neck as I looked down at the little girl.

It was the girl from before, she looked terrified to be holding the gun to my face but she wasn't backing down because... Well, because she wanted to save Jinx. I suddenly didn't care about the gun but was solely focused on Jinx's face, like the little girl, she was scared of what I would do. Not for their own sake but for the other ones.

I wouldn't hurt the brown haired girl, I was too intrigued with the fact that she was so focused on saving the blue haired girl. But my thoughts were cut short as a bullet rang out and hit the gun in the girls hand, the end of it slapped across my face before it went flying to the floor. When I grunted and looked back at the two, the little girl was holding onto Jinx tightly even as the blue haired girl tried shoving her away. But I could see the fear in Jinx's eyes, she didn't want anything to happen to her, no matter how she appeared to disregard the little girl.

"Get away from her!" I looked over to see Caitlyn aiming her gun at the pair, I jumped down to stand in front of them trying to call Caitlyns name. "Move! She's not getting away again."

"Cait she's a child!" I yelled as I didn't move out of her way, she had that crazy look in her eye again. I continued calling her name and trying to walk towards her calmly but she fired the gun and hit my glove. I looked at her in shock but she quickly reloaded and I acted without thinking, "Caitlyn!" I grabbed the end of the gun and pointed it at the floor so the bullet wouldn't go towards the two behind me. I glared at her in complete horror that she was crazy enough to do something so impulsively.

Behind me Sevika, who was apparently fighting with Caitlyn while Jinx and I went at it, pulled a lever that caused the picture of the windy lady to collapse. Jinx yelled something but I couldn't hear it because Caitlyn and I were swept away by the Grey that was blowing fast. I bounced off the floor and walls before I finally grabbed onto a latch to keep me close to the ground, I caught Caitlyn with my gloves as I saw her body come straight for me through the smog.

I held onto her until the wind died down and we fell to the floor, I breathed heavily as I tried to think of something other than the pain radiating through my body. But before I knew it Caitlyn was up on her feet and running towards the way we flew from, the tunnel was closed up from bits of debris that followed us with the wind. I stood up unsteadily on my feet as I looked at her, she started angrily hitting the butt of her gun off the blockade before resting her forehead against it tiredly.

"You stopped me."

"I shouldn't have had to!" I said angrily as I glared at her back, how the fuck could she be so stupid? That was a child for christ's sake!

"I had the shot."

"That was a kid. What if you missed?!"

She stood up abruptly making me step back in surprise, she held her gun as she shouted at me. "I wasn't going to miss!"

"What the hell's a matter with you?"

"I keep telling myself that you're different. But you're not. It's Laylas words in your head and her blood in your veins." She spat at me as she walked around me towards the latter that let up out of the tunnel we were in.

"Then why are you the one acting like Jinx?" I reached out and grabbed her wrist before she could start climbing, she hesitated but then sent the back of her gun into my gut. I yelped and stumbled before I fell to the floor, I whimpered as I looked up at her with wide eyes. That crazy look in her eyes stayed there as she looked at me before silently turning and climbing up the latter.

I felt angry tears well up in my eyes as I watched her go, I let them spill as I frantically patted around on my uniform until I found what I was looking for. I yanked the badge off my waist band and threw it across the room, the wind was knocked out of me and I let out a silent scream. Fuck this, fuck her, fuck this uniform, fuck everything.

And fuck space and time and all that bullshit, I need my girl. I have to find Layla.

My head pounded as I tried remembering where the hideout was. I grew frustrated as I went left and then right, walking straight but then turning around to go a different direction.

The dark sky had brightened as a new day came, and I was still lost and hurting.

And then I saw a dark tunnel that looked weirdly familiar and I didn't hesitate to sprint down it. I pounded my fist on the circular door, "Layla! It's Vi, please let me in!"

A little latch on the side opened up and two eyes glared at me from the other side. I glared right back and winced before the guy closed the latch and opened the door.

Scar, at least I think that's his name, stood behind the partially open door scowling down at me. He was the jerk who hit me over the head when Ekko brought Caitlyn and I here, still haven't returned the favor by the way. But that's not the point, "Where's Layla?"

"What's it to you? She doesn't want visitors." He snarked, crossing his arms over his chest and blocking my view of inside the hideout.

"I'm not explaining shit to you because it's none of your business, only hers. I need to see her." I grew defensive, sizing him up even though he was almost a head taller than me. A flash of amusement went through his eyes as he broke eye contact and leaned his head back in annoyance.

"Her and Ekko went to Piltover with Heimerdinger because there's something wrong with our tree. They've been gone for a few days and haven't come back." He admitted, his demeanor turning serious and making my stomach churn. "If I'm being honest, we're all a little worried."

My heart dropped to my feet, what the hell does he mean they're gone? They wouldn't have just left...would they?

Gone, gone, gone, gone...

"Even if she were here, she doesn't want to see you. She'll find you when she's ready."

Gone.

I felt numb as I slowly turned around and walked away from Scar who just stood there. 'She'll find you when she's ready'. But she's not here, hasn't come back in days and I have no idea where to look for her or even if I should.

But I do know one thing.

I need a fucking drink.
