Vi
04:21, 24 October 2025My vision was blurry as I tried moving my body but failed to do so, I tried shaking my head to get my eyesight to focus. I looked down to see I was tied tightly to a chair while something that looked like a cake sparked on the floor in front of me. Where the hell am I?
"Really thought I'd buried this place." I looked up towards the sound of the empty voice, seeing the outline of my sister standing on a balcony with a broken railing. "But I should've known better. Nothing ever stays dead."
"Powder? Are we alone?" I asked confused as I looked around at our surroundings, the building we were in was in pieces. Purple lines of shimmer went all over the place on top of the piles of rubble, this place looked eerily familiar and it made my skin crawl.
"For now, but you wanna know a secret? Silco thinks he made Jinx with all this rants and his hard-won lessons. 'Excise your doubts, Jinx.' 'Be what they fear Jinx.' Like everything was the same as when Vender left him. But he didn't make Jinx, you did." She said standing ten feet in front of me with her gun in her hand, she turned her head towards me. Her eyes shining a creepy purple, I clenched my eyes shut forcing my head down as I started to talk to her quietly.
"I'm sorry, Powder. I never meant to leave you."
"You never left." When I looked back at her, she had disappeared but continued talking. Her voice sounding close but far away at the same time. "I always heard you. Shadows in the streets, prickles on the back of my neck. Your voice. Pushing me. Picking me up when all the colors were black. Along with Layla, you're the reason I'm still alive."
My heart lurched at the sound of her name, but I couldn't focus on that now. I had to make Powder understand. "I spent so many nights in that shitty prison. On the freezing floor, hungry, bloody, counting for hours. The only thing- the only thing that kept me going was the thought of getting back to you."
The sparkles at my feet went out, surrounding us in darkness under the night sky. I heard my sister's voice whisper to me from the darkness, not Jinx's voice, but Powders voice. "Are by we still sisters?"
Comfort bloomed in my chest as I heard the hope in her timid voice, "Nothing is ever going to change that."
I didn't hear anything until the sound of a lighter clicked, the light dancing right in front of my face as Powder stared at me with a mischievous smile. "I'd always knew you'd come back." She spun me around as I asked what was happening, she answered by throwing the lighter away from us, illuminating all the candles on the long dinner table. Silco sat at the end of the table across from me with a mask over his mouth to stop him from talking, chairs next to Silcos left held dolls that looked eerily like Mylo and Claggor. My heart clenched in pain at the sight, while the space to my right and Silcos right were both empty. One chair labeled Jinx and the only one was labeled Powder, my breathing started to quicken as I started to piece together what was happening.
"He took everything from us. Right here, he stabbed Vander in the back. Just like he planned to with me. All the time saying you abandoned me when he knew the truth. Liar." She glared at the man who tried mumbling under his mask, before she clapped her hands together making me jump.
"Hmm we're missing two of our guests!" She walked around the back of my chair to get something as I stared at the stuffed bunny I got her from the power line. A seat in the middle of the table to my left was a shrine for Vander, my stomach sank as I saw his gauntlets. I heard her footsteps come back to the table, she wore my hammer hands as she dropped a silver platter on the table. My lips quivered as I thought of all the possibilities of what could be under the cover, she wouldn't kill Layla. She cares for her too much, that I know. But...
She held the top of the cover, "I paid your Piltie friend a visit this morning." She said sweetly as she let the suspense build, she said she made her a snack and I felt my face turn green. If I saw Caitlyns head on that tray I'd lose my shit, she whipped it off as I screamed and turned away.
"Sheesh I'm not that crazy." She said before walking away, I looked down at the platter that held a little cupcake with the blue gemstone resting on top of the icing. I felt my jaw drop as I heard her wheel over a chair, she slammed Caitlyn to my left side. She had a similar mask over her mouth like Silco, but there was a pink line on it that looked like a smile, she whimpered as she looked at me with tears in her eyes.
"Powder leave her out of this!" I yelled as she shrugged innocently before walking over to lean against my chair.
"Now our last guest is special, she doesn't get a chair. Since she's always been such a good performer I thought it would be nice if she used one of her props from her work, I hope she doesn't mind I took it." She walked over to a curtain that was behind the chairs that held the Mylo and Claggor dolls, she giggled as she went to pull it down. "She is everyone's favorite girl, after all."
I stopped breathing at she yanked the curtain off a glass box, it was big and taller than me. It was completely closed, but had a hole in the middle of one of the sides. Horrible words were written in pink and blue across the top of the box. Liar, skank, whore, stripper, faggot. But the word that caught my eye was written in light green, bigger than the rest...Firelight. A arrow went down to point to the bottom of the box, I fought against my restraints as pure fear erupted within me.
Layla laid on the floor of the box, in a ball with her hands and feet tied up. Blood dripped down her temple as she started to move slightly, her face contorting in pain. Caitlyn mumbled angrily from underneath her mask as she stared at the blonde. I fought against my restraints angrily, the terror I felt when I realized how my sister might actually kill her out of anger overwhelmed me. Powder lifted up a gold tube and fastened it into the hole, once it clicked she turned back to us smiling wickedly. "See our friend Layla here, is my test dummy. By placing this vile of poisonous gas here, all I have to do is press the big red button on my remote and it'll open little by little. La La will be suffocated, but first, where should I sit?"
I stared up at my sister in shock before darting my eyes back down to Layla, she opened her eyes little by little and I could hear her whimpering from the pain. She slowly sat up, putting her tied up hands against the glass facing the table, her face twisted in confusion as she looked over at me and Caitlyn.
My sister waved at her innocently before saying, "Well that depends on you, sis." She leaned on the side of my chair next to Caitlyn as she dropped her gun in my hands that were resting on my lap. "Make her go away please. Send her on her way and- and you can have Powder back. I'll forgive Layla and let her go, so it can just be the three of us."
My mind ran a mile a minute, Caitlyn mumbled something while she looked at me with pleading eyes. I could see a little understanding in them, as if she understood the obvious choice I should make, I shook my head in distraught. I looked back towards Layla who was facing me, her hands were still on the glass and she looked at me with sad eyes. I know she wouldn't want me to kill Caitlyn to save her and get Powder back, hell I definitely don't want to kill the enforcer. I gripped the gun in my hand really thinking about what to do, but when I looked back at Layla she mouthed the word no.
"I can't." I said as I dropped my head, hating that she's making me choose. She scoffed before grabbing the gun and aiming it at Caitlyns head, I heard Laylas pleads from inside the box as I say Caitlyn turn away from the gun.
"Powder, no wait. We...we can just go. We'll leave and never come back." I begged, her angry mask fell and I saw Powder for a second.
"Where would we go?" She whispered quietly before aiming her gun at the dolls next to Silco, "You're probably right, she's lying to me." She played with the remote to the box Layla was in, debating her choices, as she held her gun in the other hand.
"No really, I mean it-."
"Stop lying to me! You're just like her, a big fat liar." She said as she walked around the table and leaned against the glass, looking down at Layla.
Layla stared up at her unafraid, "I know you, Powder, I know you're still in there. I've need you to listen to me. Do you remember when I first came to visit you after the accident?" A look of sadness passed over my sister's face, before she continued to glare at the girl. But Layla didn't stop, "He was ready to kill me to get rid of me from seeing you, so I made the deal with him. I'll work for him as long as I could still see you, remember? When he didn't believe me, I said I'd do anything he wanted me to. He told his boys they could do whatever they wanted to to me, and I let them because he told me to. The Firelights weren't around then and I wouldn't have stayed if it wasn't for you. He sent you upstairs so you wouldn't see them hurt me, but I did that for you Powder. I'm sorry I lied, but all I've ever wanted was to be around you. I've always believed in you, I love you. You're my best friend. I wanted to hurt Silco, Powder, I never intended to hurt you."
That's what happened while I was gone? His fucking goons did shit to her? All so she could stay with Powder?
Pure rage ran through my veins as I thought of all the ways she must've been hurting that day and all these years without me.
"Well what do you have to say to all this?" Powder asked towards the end of the table at Silco who thrashed in his seat.
I struggled against the ropes as my sister ripped the mask covering Silcos mouth, he immediately started talking. "Her name is Jinx! She's lying, they both are. She'll drop you as soon as they realize you aren't that girl anymore and turns her back on you."
"You aren't lying again, are you?" She turned to me, asking quietly as she pointed her gun towards her chin in contemplation.
"I'm not. I'm on your side I promise." I said trying to muster as much honesty into my words as possible. It wasn't a lie, I was still on her side, but this was slowly making me realize how much I shouldn't be.
She shot her gun at the Mylo doll, making its head flop onto the plate in front of it. "Shut up, we're talking!" She screamed, I remembered Layla saying the voices in her head became louder and louder during confrontation.
"The topsiders offered me everything, in return for you. They can all burn. Everyone betrays us, Jinx. Vander, her, Layla! They'll never understand, it's only us. You're my daughter, I'll never forsake you." Silco talked gently to her, like he actually meant what he was saying. I snarled at the two as I watched my sister start to tear up at his words.
"Drop the gun!" Caitlyn screamed as she stood up, pointing Jinx's machine gun at her and Silco. I hadn't even realized she got herself free, but I heard Layla shout as I begged Caitlyn not to shoot. My sister scoffed before aiming at the enforcer, Caitlyn immediately started shooting at the ground towards her but stopped.
"No don't!" Layla yelled in fear, but her voice was muffled from behind the glass.
"Drop the gun." Caitlyn still aimed the machine gun at Powder who stood there not really knowing what to do next. When my sister gasped, Caitlyn started it up making me speak up.
"No please! She's my sister."
"Vi she's too far gone!" Caitlyn shouted as my sister giggled innocently, before putting her gun down on the table and putting her hands up. She stared at Caitlyn before a little smile found its way on her face.
My heart jumped to my throat as Jinx pushed the button on her remote lying on the table, making the vents open up to expose Layla to the toxic gas. Before I could move, my sister quickly moved towards Caitlyn. She tore the machine gun out of the girls hands before using the gun to uppercut Caitlyn, sending her flying back to the floor.
I finally turned towards the box, I could see Laylas heart breaking as tears welled up in her eyes. She didn't actually think my sister would hurt her, she grabbed her throat and started coughing.
"No! No Powder please! Let Layla go! You care about her, I know you do!" I yelled as I started to panic, Layla kept coughing as she kept her eyes on me.
"Good, now finish her." Silco commanded as Powders eyes turned a striking purple, I knew her mind was racing because of the mans commands.
"God damnit Powder, wake up! Remember who you are, I know who you are! Picture Mylo, Claggor, Vander! Mom! Dad! Layla! Me!" I screamed, trying to say anything to snap her out of it and realize what she was doing.
She shook her head as if fighting the voices, Silco started struggling in his chair as he shouted, "Don't listen to her!"
She was too lost in her head to realize Silco had grabbed hold of her gun that she set down earlier and pointed it at me. I turned my head towards the box, seeing Layla reaching out to me as she lied on the ground with her eyes closed.
No. No. No!
I hope he does pull the trigger, then I'll get to still be with her. I won't live a life again without her.
I heard my sister scream as she powered up her machine gun, firing it wherever she could before Silco could pull the trigger. I felt the ropes around my chest loosen as her gun powered down, she stood there as she looked over at Silco who had two bullets in his chest.
I didn't stay there to watch, I was too busy ripping the ropes off me and climbing out of my chair. I frantically looked around to see if there was something I could use, I grabbed a rock from the ground and threw it into the glass. As quick as I could I grabbed the blonde and picked her up, trying to not cut her on the millions of pieces of that surrounded the floor.
I put her on the ground in front of me before looking at her in distraught, tears fell out of my eyes as I started CPR. I started the multiple chest compressions before breathing into her mouth twice, I was crying hysterically as I continued trying to wake her up.
"Come on baby, come on please. I don't want to live without you again, I won't survive it. I need you." I whispered quietly, before laying my head on her chest in defeat.
I pulled her to me, cradling her head as I rocked us back and forth.
"I thought you'd still love me." I heard my sister say, I looked up to see her sitting in the chair labeled Jinx. I stood up slowly with Layla limp in my arms, walking around the table towards her. "Even though I'm...different. But I realized you changed too. So here's to the new us."
She looked dead inside as she stood up to walk over to the side of the building, it was open to see the city of Piltover looming ahead. I stared down at Layla as she lifted up her shark canon and shoot towards the highest point of the city of the rich, a bright blue ray of light darting out. Caitlyn who had just regained consciousness screamed as she knew her mother was there with the rest of the Council.
With Layla still in my arms, I grabbed Caitlyns arm and walked us all to where Jinx just was to watch the ray of light shoot across the sky. Caitlyn fell to her knees in anguish, screaming at the city of Piltover.
As soon as we saw the tragedy of the bomb hitting the city, a miracle happened.
Layla gasped as her body jolted violently in my arms.
She's alive.
