05:48, 29 March 2026I ran a hand through my pink hair as I lead my sister, Powder, to the roof of The Last Drop and sat on the edge. I love coming up here, it's not much but I like looking down on everything. I can breathe better from up here and after a day like today, we both need it. Pretending for one second I'm in Piltover living the good life until my imagination is ruined and I remember they're the enemy. Usually before I go back downstairs I throw a middle finger up to the view before me, right towards Piltover.
Powder sits down next to me hesitantly, her legs dangling over the edge like mine. "What are we doing here?" She asked softly, I rested my hands on my thighs as I stared at the city I've lived in all my life right in front of me.
"See that gutter running down the canal?" I asked, it was hard to see from up here so I grabbed the pipe from the piece of fence next to me so she could see better. I pointed it in the right direction before I started talking again, "That's where Claggor got his foot stuck running from enforcers. They thought it was funny, so they left him there. He was out all night before we found him."
Powder smiled slightly, knowing where I was going with my schpeel before I continued.
I pointed her in the right direction again with the pipe, "That sign? You see it? Mylo tripped over his own paint bucket and nearly fell off trying to draw a giant middle finger. His ass made that splotch." Powder laughed, sending a smile to my face, her laugh always had a way of lifting my spirits just the tiniest bit. "And that?"
I jutted my chin towards the stuffed bunny laying on the power cords a few feet in front of us, Powder put the pipe down before following my gaze. "When I was a kid, some guy took my favorite toy and threw it up there. I used to come out at night and stare at it, hoping maybe the wind or a bird might knock it down." I shrugged my shoulders and cast my stare at the ground below us, "We've all had bad days. But we learn, and we stick together."
I wrapped my arm around the little blue haired girl, the baby fat remaining on her face lifting as she gave me a small smile. She then turned around and pulled three glowing blue balls from her pocket, "I forgot, these were in my pocket. They're from the apartment."
My eyes widened as I leaned my head in closer to her outstretched hand, "What are they?" I asked curiously.
"I don't know. Should we show Vander?" She asked admiring them, but turned to me confused when I told her no.
I relaxed my facial features and bumped my shoulder against hers playfully, "Let's keep this our little secret. Mylo's wrong, Powder. You're stronger than you think. And one day," I sat up glaring at the view, "This city's gonna respect us."
Powder stood up and stared with me, "That'll be the day. Oh! Come on, Claggor said Layla was gonna stop over tonight, maybe she's downstairs."
The blondies name pulled me out of a trance and I felt my heart beat faster, Layla. My favorite curvy girl with the prettiest blue eyes and the voice of a fucking angel. My sister turned around giving me a knowing smile, she's the only one who knows about my not-so-secret crush on Layla. She keeps saying she likes me too, but I don't fully believe her.
All of the Undercity adores Layla, she doesn't see it but I do. Everyone who sees her falls in love with her, including me. So why would she want someone like me?
I tried to stop the excitement from coming at the thought of her being here once she got back from work, but I couldn't. I followed Powder down the steps to the basement, hearing various voices.
"Hey don't look at me, it was't my doing! I was looking at a fucking nose hair trimmer, it was Powders fault." Mylo said crankily. I heard a light, but stern smack, probably to the back of his head before I heard a scoff.
"Stop putting the blame on Powder and take some damn responsibility! You were still there when it happened, did you see how the explosion happened?" Layla said exasperated, she sounded exactly how I felt. Tired and annoyed. None of this shit should've happened today, but she was right, blaming each other isn't gonna help fix things. When she was met with silence I heard her arms slap down at her sides, "Exactly."
Powder burst through the door running around to the chair next to the couch that Layla currently sat on and threw herself in her arms, "Lay Lay!"
Layla's stern expression morphed into a real smile as she caught the younger girl and hugged her tight, "Pow Pow, how's my favorite girl?" She teased, laughing as Powder whispered something in her ear and hugged her tighter.
When her gaze looked up at me, her eyes got softer and my heart melted. I put a hand over my heart acting like I was in pain, "Damn Superstar, I thought I was your favorite."
Her eyes widened when she saw me faking my pain and then she gave me the finger playfully behind Powders back before giving me a wink. My cheeks blushed and hers copied mine before Powder pulled back from her, loving the fact that she's Laylas favorite.
I felt a twinge of jealousy for my little sister, especially since she could just throw herself in the girls arms without a care in the world. Something I've always wanted to do.
Her eyes stayed locked on mine before she got up and pointed to the staircase, my smiled widened as I imagined all the dirty things we could do with just us. But we haven't admitted how we feel to each other yet so...for now she'll lecture me just like Vander and then say something stupid to make me laugh, just like always.
"Uh-oh the Moms are fighting again." Mylo joked.
"Good luck." Claggor muttered as I followed her out the door and watching her climb a couple steps before turning to sit on them. I tried not to look, but I just couldn't help it. Her ass looked so good in those tight pants she most likely got from work, so there was no way I couldn't not stare just a tad.
I took a deep breath shaking my head, smirking to myself before leaning against the opposite wall from the door and crossing my arms.
"Violet." She said sternly, I looked away trying to avoid her patronizing glare. "Explain."
I shrugged before looking at her across from me, she had one leg up to her chest as she sat on the steps. "I can't explain the explosion because I don't know how it happened, but we found a lot of good stuff. A couple douchebags roughed us up before we came back here, I threw Powder the bag so she could keep it safe while we fought 'em off. But one got away from us and chased her to the docks, she threw it into the water before the guy got it."
"So that's why Vander stormed into Benzos shop like a bull in a china store?" She asked me smiling lightly, I stared at her in admiration before nodding my head. "Well as long as you're alright."
A bright smile made it's way onto my face, I put a hand on my chest before asking incredulously, "Just me?"
Her face turned dark red as she realized what she had said, she stuttered, "Well I-I meant. No, you know...Ugh you know what I meant, V!" She grew flustered when she saw amusement decorating my face.
I pushed off the wall and slowly stepping towards her, I took her hand and pulled her down the steps. I kept getting closer to her so she leaned her back fully against the wall. "Oh I know what you mean, you were scared for me. I know you like me, L." I walked right up to her and leaned my arm on the wall next to her head, her breathing quickened at our proximity.
Every once in a while, I get like this. When I'm too attracted to her and can't help myself. I flirt too much and get turned down or we get interrupted.
"And even if I did? We have too much on our plates right now, you know that." She kept her face calm, but I could see through her mask. Her voice shook as she spoke and her eyes went from looking into my eyes to looking at my lips in longing.
Secretly, I think we both knew how we felt about each other and times like this made it harder and harder to keep away from her. We've always ignored our feelings because we both have too many responsibilities. She's the only one of us who has a job, we both pitch in around the bar when Vander needs us and we go on jobs to help us get some money. Everyone calls me Vanders prodigy and she's Benzo's favorite girl. No matter how much they say they want us to be together, we know we have to focus on our responsibilities for now.
I dropped my forehead on hers and sighed, looking into her eyes I whispered, "Forget all that. Just for a second, it's me and you. No problems or priorities we're faced with, forget everyone else for now. So I can do what I've dreamed of doing many times..." She gasped sharply as my hand made its way onto her cheek, I gazed at her to wait for some sort of sign that it was okay. A minute later she reluctantly nodded and slowly laid a hand on the back of my neck to pull me in, butterflies erupted in my stomach.
I could feel her warm breath on my lips as I tilted her face up towards mine, she closed her eyes and tightened her hold on me. Our lips brushed against each others the tiniest bit before we were interrupted.
"Layla, I need your-."
Lay gasped in surprise before pushing me back, it was so sudden I stumbled into the wall across from her and resisted the urge to growl in annoyance. Powder stood in the doorway frozen, her cheeks blushed deeply in embarrassment as she looked back and forth between us. I love my sister, but right now I wanted nothing more than to push her back in the basement and run away with the blonde.
Layla was breathing heavily as she tried not to look flustered, she put a smile on her face but she shifted on her feet. I smirked knowingly as I gazed at her, I know she could feel my eyes on her but she refused to look at me.
"What's up, Pow-Pow?"
"I need help with Mouser #213, she's almost done but I just need some help to make sure I don't cause another accident." Powder said excitedly, completely clueless to the moment she just ruined.
"Okay, I'll be right there!" Layla told the girl who skipped back into the room happily, she let out a sigh of relief before looking over at me. I hadn't taken my eyes off her and hers softened, she pushed off the wall before walking towards me. She kissed my cheek as she held the side of my face, moving her thumb up and down soothingly. She leaned close to my ear, "One day we will, Shiner. But for now, you need to shower because you smell like a sewer."
She walked into the basement, I heard Mylo and Claggor bombarding her with questions. I leaned my head against the wall as I whispered, "I love you, L."
