Thirteen (Nico)

5 YEAR TIME SKIP

Today is Kenzie-Leigh and Phoenix's first day at Kindergarten and Levi and I can't believe how much they've grown. Kenzie-Leigh has long brown curly hair that covers her back and big blue eyes. Phoenix looks the same, but with blonde hair. They look so similar and adorable. I just can't believe they're growing up so quickly, they're going to Kindergarten!

"Daddy!" Exclaimed Phoenix, I run up the stairs and into the girls' room. "Yes, pumpkin" I reply, she turns to me and smiles "can you do my hair and make me look pretty please?" Asked Phoenix in a sickeningly sweet yet adorable tone. I saw that she picked out her own outfit, denim light blue shorts with a pink top and some white shoes "of course I can! Good job on the outfit" I replied.

Phoenix sat down on a chair and I got the hairbrush and some hair bands.     Kenzie-Leigh walked in the room and saw what I was doing then ran to get Levi. He walked in laughing "do you want your hair done too?" Asked Levi, Kenzie-Leigh nodded. She was the quietest one was she was adorable nonetheless.

Kenzie-Leigh sat on a stool and waited patiently for Levi to brush and braid her long brown hair. Kenzie decided to wear a white top under her dungaree dress and tights with white trainers. Levi went for two French braids and it looked wonderful in Kenzie's hair. I decided to put Phoenix's hair in a donut bun. "Thank you daddy!" Both of them said in unison, hugging both me and Levi. We smiled and hugged them back. "So, pancakes?" Asked Levi, the girls' eyes lit up and they nodded excitedly, holding hands they skipped down the stairs into the kitchen where they sat at the breakfast bar

Levi made some fluffy pancakes which the girls gobbled up gratefully. "So girls do you have your back packs?" I asked, they both nodded. We helped them get in their car seats and drove them to their new kindergarten. When we got there we helped them out. I held Phoenix's hand as we went in, Levi held Kenzie-Leigh's hand as we went in. Eventually we reached the inside and around 30 kids all the same age as the girls were all running around. Kenzie-Leigh stuck close to Levi and Phoenix looked up at me "come on girls! Go play!" I exclaimed. Phoenix smiled and ran over to the sandpit, Kenzie-Leigh warily walked over to where Phoenix was and played too. Once she got used to it we were sure she was going to be fine.

We watched as they played with smiles on their faces and suddenly we saw a group of moms run over to a child, they seemed to be having a seizure "step back! My husband and I are surgeons!" I exclaimed, the crowd split like the Red Sea to let us walk through. I lent down by the small boy, he has curly brown hair, he was choking. I pulled him up and put my arms around him squeezing his stomach until a piece of Lego flew out of his mouth. He started to cry and snuggle into me. Eventually the mom walked over to us.

"Jason!" Exclaimed the mom, she had long blond hair and brown eyes that were filled with worry, she picked him up and smiled at me "thank you so much!" Exclaimed the woman "no worries" I say, I hold out a hand for her to shake "Dr Nico Schmitt" I say, she smiles and shakes my hand "Lindsay McMichaels" replied Lindsay "Lindsay, this is my husband Dr Levi Schmitt" I say introducing Levi "oh wow you're both doctors?" Asks Lindsay, I nod

"Which one is yours?" Asked Lindsay, I point to Kenzie-Leigh and Phoenix "the one with brown hair is Kenzie-Leigh and the one with blonde hair is Phoenix, they're twins, we adopted them five years ago and we love them to bits" replied Levi "aw that's adorable" said Lindsay. We smiled and then we looked over at Jason. He was in Lindsay's arms but he wasn't breathing. She looked over too "Jason. Jason!" Exclaimed Lindsay

Levi took him off of her and lay him down on the floor "yeah he's not breathing. Asthma attack possibly, Nico ring the ambulance for Grey Sloan, we'll take this" Levi ordered I nodded and called the ambulance immediately. "Has anyone got an inhaler?!" I yell, one woman walks over and hands me an inhaler "it's Maria's spare one, but Jason needs it so you have it" says the woman, I smile and take it off her. I clean it with a cloth and slowly open Jason's mouth, Levi does the rest, he presses the button, giving Jasonair "this will hold off for now but we need to get him to hospital it's not doing much" I say. Within a few minutes the ambulance arrived and me, Levi and Lindsay got in the ambulance to go with Jason to the hospital. I payed Karev as we were pulling up into the pit.

"What have we got?" Asked Karev, I looked over as I helped Jason out of the ambulance "supposed asthma attack, Jason Kennel 5 years old, struggled to breathe, I gave him an asthma pump, it wasn't helping so I thought it best to come here" I replied, Karev nodded and took him in. He checked the heart rate and blood pressure. Suddenly, Jason started coding so Karev had to use the crash cart.

"Jason! My baby! Please he's only 5" Exclaimed Lindsay "get her out of here!" Exclaimed Karev, Levi took her out of the room despite her protests and her cries. It was sort of heart breaking to watch her being pulled away from her child. Eventually Karev stopped Jason from coding and walked over to Lindsay "I think I have found something stuck in Jason's lungs so I'm gonna need to take him into surgery" said Karev.
