Chapter Sixteen

~*.*~ Eight Years Later ~*.*~

I woke up to the sound of coffee and giggles. I crawled out of bed and stepped down the staircase, peering into the kitchen and seeing Dabi cooking breakfast while our five year old twin boys Taichi and Daigo helped him. I finished going down the stairs, rubbing my big belly, and sat myself at the table. "Okay Taichi, give this to mommy." Dabi instructed him.

"Okay!" Taichi had my hair color and my eye color.

"Can I do Ember's, daddy?" Daigo asked, looking up at him with turquoise eyes. He sported my hair color.

"Yes, but be extra careful; it's her first day of school." Dabi warned him. "We don't want to spill."

"Okay!" Daigo slowly moved to the table.

I heard footsteps heading down the stairs and looked over, seeing Ember emerging wearing her grey school uniform. Her white hair had grown down to her butt, but she pulls it into a high ponytail during school to keep it out of her face.

And Dabi's cloak.

Ever since Dabi burned their hideout down, he "hung up" his cloak to "leave the past" and focus on now. Since then, we got married, and a few years later found out we were having three twins. Now we're onto baby number four, and the last one. The twins haven't shown any Quirks yet, but they're showing some signs.

"How do I look?" Ember asked shyly.

"Sweetie why do you have my jacket?" Dabi frowned at her. "I don't want to see it."

"Well, I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to reinvent it?" Ember looked at the ground. "I could use it for my Hero Costume when we get to it at UA High.."

"Wouldn't it want something newer though?" I suggested.

"I mean I do, but I also want something to remind myself who I am and where I come from.." ember looked defeated. "I can out it back-"

"No." Dabi came over, a hand on her shoulder. "Keep it. Give it a second chance like how your mom did with me."

Ember smiled up at him before hugging him. "Thank you-"

"I don't want to see any boys wearing it though."

"Dad!"

I chuckled softly as we all sat at the table, eating breakfast.

What was nice about this new life for Dabi was his character development: ever since he officially quit the League he doesn't use his Quirk anymore, giving his skin time to heal some. The scars under his eyes have faded and almost completely disappeared, and his chest is healing nicely too. When he's helping Ember train he uses his hands, but how with E her starting school at UA High he'll probably have some time to heal his hands too.

Since the League was no longer in the picture, too, and in currently on maternity leave, David taken it upon himself to do the boys off at daycare and bring Ember to school so I can relax and we can get stuff ready for baby number four.

"Alright, guys! Time to go!" Dabi hollered. "Boys, if I hear that you're being buttheads in school this week no ice cream in Friday!"

"Don't do that, Dad!" Taichi shouted, grabbing his back pack.

"Yeah that's not nice!" Daigo pouted.

"Neither is pushing your classmates because they took your favorite crayons." Dabi raised an eyebrow at them before looking over at me, grabbing the keys. "You'll be alright?"

"Yes, not go before they're late! I'm going to sleep!" I called back, lounging on the couch.

Ember's POV

I watched Dad pull up to the curb, parking the car. "Listen," he caught my attention. "This may be your hardest obstacle yet, okay?"

"Why do you say that?" I frowned at him.

"Because I'm your dad, duh."

I gave him an unimpressed look. "Sweetie, your classmates and some of the teachers might give you a hard time because of where you come from," he explained. "You can either prove them wrong, or let them make you out to who they say you are."

"Well, I guess I'm proving everyone wrong." I smiled victoriously. "I'm going to become a hero, and out the bad stereotypes about you down!"

"Ember, don't be a hero for me, be a hero for everyone."

I gave him a hug before opening the car door. I hesitated to get out.

"What's wrong?" Dad asked.

I looked back at him. "Anyone can say who you are, and tell me you're a terrible person, but you're my hero Dad. Love you."

"Love you too, Ember." Dad smiled back at me before I exited out the car, heading inside.

THE END.
