Chapter One
07:50, 7 February 2025Oh fuck!
I pressed my temples with my thumb and middle finger, sighing dramatically, as I stared down at the positive pregnancy test in my hand.
"Fucking great..." I muttered to myself, throwing the test out and finishing my business on the toilet before flushing, being sure to wash my hands afterward.
I left the bathroom and turned down the hall, seeing my roommate on the couch. "Hey, everything okay?" She looked up at me.
"Cmon," I snatched my keys from the little bowl on the kitchen island. "We gotta go."
"O-Okay! Let me grab my jacket!" She jumped off the couch and ran to her room.
We were in the exam room, waiting to see the doctor. In the meantime, I was a nervous wreck on the exam bed, and my roommate was no help at all. "Do you want a boy or a girl?"
"Mimi, please stop." I warned her, staring her down.
Her brown eyes poured at me. "I don't know why you're being so sour about this-"
There was a knock on the door. "Hello!" The doctor walked in, smiling down at me. "Test results did confirm - you are pregnant. I suggest getting you scheduled to see an OBGYN and an ultrasound so we can determine how far along you are. Do you know the baby's father?"
I froze before letting out a sigh. "I don't, actually. I-It's a result of a one-night stand.." I answered shamefully.
"Hey, don't worry!" Mimi came over, taking my hands into her as a supportive smile curved on her face. "I'll be baby daddy."
Nine Months Later...
"FUCK!" I cried out, pushing.
I was now in the delivery room. By myself. Mimi was in here, but when she saw how much blood there was she passed out.
She does NOT do well around blood.
"Cmon, mama, you're almost there!" The doctor encouraged me.
I took a deep breath before pushing once more.
Them silence. My body was sweating and I was in pain, but I looked at the nurse on my left and asked, "Where's my baby?"
Suddenly cries filled the air in the delivery room. Everyone let out a breath of relief as the nurses cleaned the baby up and handed her to me. "Here you go, Mama." One of them named Suzi smiled gently. "Let's get you settled in a room; one of us will check on Mimi in the meantime okay?"
Hours later I was lying in the hospital bed watching the news with the baby beside me, and finally Mimi walked into the room, holding a pink balloon and a small pink gift bag. "Hi, mama!" She smiled gently, seeing the balloon and gift bag down before taking a seat in the chair beside me, looking at the baby. "How are you doing?"
"I should be asking you," I teased. "You passed the hell out."
"Well you know how I am with blood," Mimi pouted before looking at the baby in the small crib. "Did you pick out a name yet?"
"Yeah," I nodded, looking at my baby in the crib. "Ember."
"Oh that's pretty-" Mimi started before being cut off by the news. We both turned our heads and looked, seeing wanted pictures of different villains.
One in particular caught my eye - his black sooty hair and ice blue eyes locked onto me through the screen as his purple scars were held onto his flesh through staple-piercings. The smells of ash and smoke suddenly filled my nose, and my memories came flooding back to me.
I looked down at my daughter, and at the same time she opened her eyes.
Ice. Blue.
Mimi looked at me, and I looked at her. "Y/N ..."
"Dabi's my baby's father..." I slapped myself in the face, thinking about offing myself before my baby began to cry.
I was having trouble walking to my cab, and before I knew it some big bulky guy came to my side. "Hey sweet cheeks, I don't see you here often ~" he purred, grabbing ass.
I shoved him off of me, grabbing the knife I had in my hand. And of course the cab driver drives off - great.
Thanks, asshole.
"You think you can stop me with a little knife?" The man cackled.
"No, but I can."
Immediately the guy was covered in blue flames. I looked behind the fire and saw Dabi standing there, his hand on the dudes shoulder before he pulled it back.
"You okay?" He asked.
I nodded, heat in my legs brewing. "Thank you.." I toweled my hair in my fingers.
"Good. Now go home." He insisted.
"B-But, my cab driver left me, and my roommates out of town," I pouted. "I'm all alone. If you brought me back, I can repay you ~"
"I cannot believe you fucked a villain!" Mimi hissed at me after I settled the baby down to her nap. "And one of the worst ones if that!"
"I know I fucked up!" I turned to her. "But it's too late now!"
"What are you gonna do? Call him up and say 'Hey, we slept together about ten months ago, but I just had your baby'?!"
"No - he won't want to be the father!" I responded back. "I'll raise Ember myself."
"Y/N, my mom was a single parent and that was hell!" Mimi protested. "You seriously cannot do this on your own!"
"I will," I insisted.
"Well I'm helping you then," Mimi got up from the chair. "I'm gonna get Shoyo over; we'll rearrange our rooms and-"
"Mimi leave my room alone!"
"You aren't supposed to lift anything baby the next few weeks!" She poked at my chest harshly. "You recover with baby. I'm getting our apartment ready. I'll come back later tonight."
I sighed, knowing there was no arguing with her.
After Mimi left, I looked at Ember, seeing her sleeping soundly. I sighed and leaned my head back, resting my eyes as well.
