Chapter 6

My eyes opened and adjusted to the light seeping in through my window.

"It's Saturday"  I thought. " I get to sleep in."

My eyes were about to shut close when my alarm when off. "Stupid clock",  I cursed. Now my sleep was officially ruined. Well I'd better make use of today if I was already awake. I started to get dress when my phone rang. I stumbled over, trying not to trip over my half put on pants and picked it up. My dads caller I.D. flashed on the screen.

I pressed answer and put the phone to my ear. " Good morning Sunshine " he said. I muttered out a hello as I struggled to pull my pants up. "I'm not at home but you need to meet Laura at Ms. Fiones. It's a dress shop in town, she wants to take you and Terra shopping for your brides maid dresses, I won't be there, bad luck or whatever Laura said it is, Oh and one more thing Terra is sleeping in the guest bedroom."

I rolled my eyes at the thought of sleeping one room away from her." OK I'll see you later. " I hung up and finished getting dress. I  grabbed my dagger hiding under my shirt ( I had a strap to carry it ) and went to brush my teeth. Then, I walked into the guest bedroom to see Terra sprawled out on the bed. 

I flicked the light on and knocked loudly on the wall beside me. "Terra wake up, we're going dress shopping ". 

She groaned and pulled the pillow over her head. I flicked the lights off on and on only getting a groan in response. My foot started tapping against the floor, Why do I have to be the one to do this? I started to get annoyed at her lack of movement, so I finally took care of it. I

I pulled out the pillow from underneath her and shouted, " TERRA! Wake up! ". She rolled off the bed and gave me a death glare. It didn't work out so well since she was  half asleep. Her "glare" resulted in her eye twitching vigorously, it was kind of funny.

I told her about the dress shopping and she angrily mumbled, " You're lucky we're going shopping and not some stupid farmers market." I decided to ignore her before things got out of hand and  went downstairs to eat. I was eating my cereal when I received a text from a random number.

Random number: Good morning katie :)

Katie: Who is this?

Random number: C'mon don't tell me you already forgot about your amazing boyfriend;)

Katie: Oh hey Travis... so how did you get my number?

Travis: Terra

Katie: Ok... so what do you want?

Travis: Well I was thinking, if we're going to go on this " date " I at least wanna make it feel real....

Katie: Reality?

Travis: Connor's sick and my mom won't let me go to the football game tonight cause I'm grounded soooo I told her I was hanging out with you and she said that was fine....

Katie: Well too bad cause I'm going dress shopping at Mrs.Fiones for my dads wedding

Travis: Never seen you in a  dress... sounds fun, see ya there;]

Katie; But you can't come...

Travis: Message wouldn't send. Error 3497. Plese try again.

Katie: you spelled please wrong.. stupid

Travis: *Message would't send. Error 3497. Please try again.

Katie: I'm guessing no matter what I say won't stop you from showing up huh?

Travis: You know me too well P.s. can you give me a ride back? My mom doesn't trust me so she's gonna drop me off.

Katie: Do I have another option?

I sighed and went back to finishing my cereal. I was finishing up just as Terra came down the stairs. She glared at me and said " You should be ashamed of yourself for waking me up! Its like, 11 in the morning."

" Well live with it cause MY sleep got ruined too, even earlier than yours." She was such a sissy sometimes. We  hopped in the car and started driving. We were just around the corner when Terra gasped " Stop! Stop! Sop right there! " She started flailing her arms around like she was having a seizure. I parked the car across from some fancy store, when she said " That's- That's- Oh my god I can't believe I'm able to see something this beautiful. OK Terra calm down girl, you got this " seeing the confused look on my face she then explained. " That's the new Loiu Vitton purse! I SO forgot it was coming out in stores today. I have to get it. Tell my mom that I'll be there soon. " She hopped out of the car and ran toward the store like some crazed Aphrodite girl.

I drove up further to see Mrs.Fiones and Travis leaning on a tree next to the store with his back turned towards me. I parked as quietly as I could, got out of the truck and poked him with both my hands on his sides. His phone flew in the air and he got out a knife pushing me against the tree and  the knife to my neck. When he saw it was me he lowered it and said, " Oh my gods Katie! Don't scare me like that! I thought you were a monster!".

" Yeah I can tell " I said rubbing my neck. " You might want to work on that paranoia by the way. Even if I wasn't some monster and just some whack person,you could get into serious trouble for pulling a knife on someone." His cheeks turned red and he shrugged it off by saying,  " Sorry, shall we continue?" He reached out and took my hand, I turned my face away from him so he wouldn't see me blush. Oh my gods Katie, you are starting to like Travis stoll! Or maybe I'm blushing because it's the first time someone has ever held my hand.. Yeah. that's it! My mind kept racing back and forth about Travis. He led me to the front doors were I found we walked in and found Laura waiting inside.

She welcomed us with a smile, and I introduced her to Travis and told her where Terra was. Let me just say the place was HUGE. It was two stories, decorated with mini glass chandeliers and there were girls sitting on mini sofa cushions drinking tea while choosing  wedding or brides maids dresses. Racks of multi colored dresses and men tux's lined the walls. After gaping a the place, Laura led us to the second story were she had reserved a private dressing rehearsal. The dresses she gave me to try on had all one thing in common, they were yellow. Since the wedding was going to be at our farm, I'm guessing she wanted a springy vibe.

I tried on dress after dress not being able to find one until she handed me a dress and said " This is gonna be the last dress you try on before we all go out and eat, and I have a good feeling about it".

"Mom you said that about the last four dresses ", Terra whined. She had arrived just before I had started trying the last few dresses. She got in trouble for not being there and so now she wasn't allowed to be trying on any dresses till we came back again. It was killing her, but she deserved it. The dress she gave me was a bright yellow with a silk ribbon circling my torso. I put the dress on it fit perfectly. It came a few inches before my knees and it was strapless. I walked out of the dressing room and their mouths fell. They kept complementing me while Travis had his mouth opened the whole time and bug eyed. I rolled my eyes and walked over to him and lifted his mouth up. He started blushing widely and said " That looks amazing on you ". " Yeah well, now we can go eat, I'm starving " He chuckled as I went back into the dressing room and changed back into my clothes.

We bought the dress and quickly exited. We ended up eating at Five Guys Burger and Fries It was tasty. We got our food and sat at a table and started to talk. We were in the middle of how we would spend our summer vacation when I saw a waitress move quicker than a human normally would. She walked into the bathroom and disappeared from sight.

I turned to them and said " Hey I have to go to the.. bathroom. I'll be right back. " I followed the waitress into the bathroom and looked around. I didn't see her any were. Maybe I was just being paranoid. I was about to walk out when I felt a pair of hands tightly grip my throat and spun me around. I came face to face with an Empousa.

She looked her lips saying " Finally a meal ".

I tried to get out of her choke hold but she gripped tighter. " I -- thought--Empousa were only-- supposed to eat-- men "

She growled hungrily and her hair caught fire. " I haven't eaten in days, I think I can make an exception."

" I mean we are in a fast food restaurant, but ya go ahead and go for me." She growled in anger and squeezed even tighter than before, even better for me!  I grabbed out my knife and tried to stab her, but she was quick. She ducked behind a stall door and ripped it off its hinges and threw it at me. I ducked but a piece of it had cut my arm. We started trying to kill each other and it went on forever. I guess we were making a pretty big racket because an employee came in to tell us to keep it down, but stopped in mid sentence and screamed her head off. She ran out screaming about a vampire and terrorist. Travis, Terra, and Laura came rushing in.

The Empousa then growled and said, " More company, I'm getting hungrier already. " Terra and Laura stood there frozen while Travis got out his mini knife and started to help. After a few minutes of fighting Terra had fainted and Laura was screaming and pulled her out. The Empousa started to slow down and then she started clawing at her throat, I then took the chance and stabbed her in the stomach. She smiled like the devil himself and said " Don't worry, I might be dying now, but when Gaea returns I'll have my revenge. " She burst into flames and gold dust exploded everywhere.

Travis looked at me and smiled meekly. " The resturaunt is cleared out, have you told them about you being a demigod?"

" No, me and my dad were planning probably before or after the wedding, but I guess we just have to tell them now, If they're still going to be together ".

He nodded and we walked out of the bathroom. The place was empty, chairs were thrown to the side, probably by the people trying to get out Laura's car was out of sight. She had either gone home or to my house. Which ever it was I was in for a big surprise.. I heard police sirens and we left before they could find out who it was. We were getting into the car when Travis went rushing into the building. He came back a few minutes later holding a camera.

" Whats that for?" I said nodding to the camera.

" They could check it to see what happened. I would've disabled it, but Its really nice, and me and Connor have been needing one so I decided to take it ". I rolled my eyes and started the car. I pulled up to Travis's house and he hopped out of the car.

I was about to drive away when he tapped on the window. I rolled it down and he said " I had a great date "

I rolled my eyes " It was not a date "

" What ever, see ya tomorrow "

" Tomorrow? Tomorrow's Sunday! "

" Testing " He said as he was stating the obvious.

" Oh.. yeah well I'll see you tomorrow, Bye. " Yes Testing. Tomorrow was the last day of school. They made it on a Sunday! All we would be doing was sitting in our rooms taking stupid test.I drove home to see Laura's car parked in the driveway. Great. I carefully opened the door trying not to make any noise. I was successfully going up the stairs when I heard a voice behind me say, " Katie, we need to have a talk." I cringed and slowly turned around to see my dad. " What happened at the restaurant?" I proceeded to tell him everything. When I finished he nodded his head in understatement. " Well Laura's here, We need to tell her, and Terra. " He led me to the living room were Terra was sitting next to Laura drinking a cup of tea. They looked up at me there eyes wide with fear. I sat down on the love seat across from them and my dad sat next to me on the couch. We sat in silence before I cleared my throat and proceeded to tell them who and what I was.

When I finished Laura took no moment to spring up and say " Katie, this isn't real. Tell me the truth. "

" It is the truth I swear " She turned to my dad and said " Dan, She can't be serious about this?!?" My dad nodded his head gravely and Laura sat down her head in her hands. A couple of minutes passed and Terra spoke up.

" Show me " I looked at her confused and she said again " Show me that your a demigod " I motioned her to get up and Laura, my dad, and Terra followed me outside.

By the way Demeter can turn objects into plants and monsters and people into plants and grow plants fast in like seconds. back to the story.

I turned to the vase that was standing on our patio and willed Ivy to grow on it. In a matter of seconds the Ivy was spreading as quick as well... Ivy. When it was completely covered I willed it to turn into grain. The vase fell turning into a pile of grain covered with Ivy. They turned to me in shock and Terra said in a calm voice Thank you then she walked back into the house.

Laura then said " Katie I am willing to except what you are, and it won't change anything " I smiled at her and my dad and Laura started talking. I went up to my room feeling good to find Terra sitting on my bed. She turned to me and said " Is he one to? Travis?".

I nodded my head and told her " He is a son of Hermes. Hermes is the fastest god. He is the god of thieves, messaging, inventing ( he invented the Internet and I looked up his powers and some of you may not know ) and he has been know to have control over hypnosis." She nodded her head and asked " How are you guys trained, or-or how do you stay safe? Do you guys just get your way through life being like this?"

" No we go to a special camp in the summer, we can stay year round but dad won't let me. The camp is filled with cabins of all the different gods children.  Occasionally we get attacked by monsters and well you witnessed it today "

She yawned and said " Today has been a long day and I'm tired " She walked out of my room and into hers. I didn't bother getting dress and I jumped into my bed. I was about to fall asleep when I got a text.

Travis: Goodnight;)

Katie: way to be flirty..

Travis: whatever, how did the meeting with your dad Laura go?

Katie: surprisingly good.. well I have to go, stupid testing tomorrow..

Travis: ahah ok.. goodnight :)

Katie: Goodnight:)

I got off my phone as one thought raced through my mind. I was starting to like Travis Stoll. Whether I liked it or not.
