The US military needed back up and fast. They were unable to hold back the omnic units until a jet flew in and outcame Overwatch.
"Move out!" Gabriel exclaimed.
They began heavy firing on the omnics. Several of them were taken out. The military stared at the team in awe. A fire was ignited in them and they got bak up to help Overwatch. Gabriel and Jack fired several shots at the omnics. Jack recieved a call. His eyes grew wide. He yelled to Gabe over the coms.
"I've just recieved word that a peace treaty has been established between the omnics! This is the last of them!"
Gabriel looked around at the massacre. Angela and Ana were getting the wounded to safety. Reinhardt had his shield up. Torbjorn was fixing his turrets. Gabeiel called to everyone.
"This is the last of them! We got this. This is it for good!"
"Copy that commander!"
The last of the omnics were eliminated. The dust cleared. Soldiers came all around and started cheering for the team. They clapped and screamed. Gabriel and the team turned to face their audience. They smiled and began walking in land. They waved to everyone.
"Congratulations you guys. You have become heroes."
They headed to the capital building to announce the peace treaty. Gabrielle was there to greet them. She was wearing her uniform as well.
"Congrats everyone. For those of tou who don't know me officially, I'm Gabrielle Adawe, founder of overwatch. You have saved the world from a war that could have been catastrophic and have become a beacon of hope to the world. Thankyou."
They came to the ceremony and stood on stage in a line overlooking the audience.
"I want to personally thank my Overwatch team for a job well done! I hope we can continue this team to be the protectors of the world. Unfortunately I can no longer continue as the founder. Their true leader is Commander Gabriel Reyes."
The crowd cheered and clapped for them. Metals of honor were given to each of them. Reinhardt stared down at his metal in awe.
"You're country would be proud of you Reinhardt." Gabriel said.
"Thankyou commander."
"I can't believe we are up here. I-I feel like I could have done more to help. I could have saved more people." Angela said flustered.
"Angela, don't talk like that. We are glad you are on this team. You have saved more lives than you know today." Jack said. "I'm proud of you all."
"Thanks Morrison."
That night Jack had forgiven Gabriel. The next week Gabrielle announced a new team within Overwatch that wouldn't ever be presented to the public called Blackwatch. The government placed Gabriel as the leader of Blackwatch and named Jack as the Overwatch Strike Commander for his ability to see the good in others. Gabriel grew furious and was having trouble finding members for his team. He finally found a scientist named Moira O' Deorain who agreed to join the new Blackwatch team.
Angela had left for a mission in Japan and has been reporting to Gabriel since the crisis ended. Gabriel has slowly been distancing himself from Jack.
"Jack, are you ok?"
"I-I don't know. Ever since Blackwatch began my relationship with Gabe has been...distant. I think he blames me for becoming the new strike commander."
"I'm sure the guy will come around?" Reinhardt said.
"No, he hasn't ben sleeping. He is slowly moving things out of my room." Jack looked down sad. "I-I think it might be over, but I still have feelings for him. He should be focused on his team anyways."
"Don't talk like that Jack. You love him don't ya? There has to be a reason you guys were together in the first place." Reinhardt explained.

"Is that even possible?"
"Yes Gabriel, but I need a human specimine to test."
Gabriel looked to the ground thinking hard.
"Ok, I'll do it."
"You're sure? You'll have to be under a lot of different procedures and pain."
"Tell me something that I haven't done."
"Ok, I'll begin the first trial tomorrow."
"Thanks for joining Blackwatch."
"Commander, it's a privilege."
"Have you talked to Angela about giving you a work space?"
"Yes, we have agreed that I get the lab and she gets the workroom."
"Good, I hope you two get along."
"I think we will."

"Gabe, will you tell me whats going on?"
"It's nothing Jack. I'm just working...on a personal project."
"I know you're upset about me being strike commander. That doesn't mean we can't be together. Gabe, I still love you."
Gabriel sighed and leaned into Jack kissing his forehead.
"I love you too Jacky, but this project I'm working on...it might be better if I do it alone."
Jack grabbed his arm.
"No, listen Reyes. I know you think your invincible, but I don't want you to be alone. You don't have to tell me what's going on, but I want to help. Please move back in with me?"
Gabriel stared at the ground and sighed loudly.
"Fine."

"It will be hard to ajust to the first trial. Your body will undergo a lot of pain to get used to the solution I'm pumping into your bloodstream. It has chemicals that could kill you, so the only way to get rid of it is to take chemotherapy."
"Whatever it takes, doc."
"Rest tonight and take vicodin."
That night Gabriel ran into the bathroom and started vomiting. Jack rushed in after him and held his hair back.
"Gabe?"
He looked over his shoulder amd stood up.
"I'm fine."
He dug through a cabinet and powered on an electric razor. He brought it up to his head and began shaving it. Jack starred in shock.
"Gabriel? What the hell are you doing?"
Gabe pulled off large clumps of hair throwing them into a trash bin.
"I don't need it."
Jack took a tissue and wiped off Gabe's mouth.
"Does this by any chance have to do with your...personal project?"
"Don't worry about it."
"Gabe, answer me."
"I promise it's normal. I need to upchuck to live."
"So this is part of your project. I didn't think it was on yourself. What are you doing to your body Gabe?"
"Don't worry Jack. I promise it's safe."
Jack shook his head.
"You've always been bad at lying."
"Jack, I'm not saying anything else. I have to go. I'll be back later."
Gabriel left and went to the laboratory. He walked in and sat on the table.
"Did he ask you?"
"Yes."
"What did you tell him?"
"I didn't say anything. He's too concerned."
"Maybe he is worried."
"It's not his business."
"Gabriel, he just wants to help."
"Doesn't matter. I'm worried he'll try to do whatever it takes to stop you, if he found out."
"He doesn't have authority over me commander. Only you do. Maybe you should tell him. Otherwise he's going to get to curious and find out something he'll regret."
"I'll think about it."
"Lay down. I'm putting your implant in tonight. It will be extremely hard to move the next couple of weeks as your body adjusts to it. Take lots of water and vicodin."
Gabriel layed on his stomach. Moira began tying his limbs to the table with heavy leather straps. Gabe looked over his shoulder concerned.
"Don't worry. This is just so you don't move."
Moira moved a mexhanical arm holding a needle over the table and opened a case. Inside was the metal spine implant. Moira grabbed a rag and stuck it in Gabe's mouth.
"Bite this."
The spine was layed across Gabriel's back. Moira moved the arm down and screwed the bottom piece to Gabriel's spine. He flinched in pain. He tried to thrash, but was secured to the table. He muffled screams through the rag. Moira screwed the next one in. He again tried to thrash violently.
"Stop moving!"
He managed to muffle out something. A sort of scream.
"IT HURTS!"
"The device is attaching itself to your nerves. That's why it hurts. Also I'm drilling into your spine."
He looked over his shoulder and stared at Moira in shock. She drilled in again. Blood splattered her face, but she kept going. He winced in pain and turned away. She finally finished and eventually the bleeding stopped. Moira cleaned him off and helped him put his hoodie back on. His wrists and ankles were vruised from the straps. He tried to stand. Moira grabbed a cane for Gabriel. He took it and started hobbling out of the lab. He went passed the workroom and saw someone at the workbench. There was mechanival whiring. He walked in and saw Angela at the bench. He stared confused.
"Angela?"
She quickly turned.
"Gabriel I..."
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming back?"
Gabriel wrapped his arms around her. She hugged him back.
"Sorry. I got caught up." Angela said.
"With what?"
"Come with me."
They walked to a steralized room. The gauge on the wall said it was 26 degrees inside. They walked in. Gabriel could see his breath. He looked across the room. His eyes grew wide. Against the wall hanging over a table was what appeared to be what was left of a man's body. His arms and legs had been severed off. Several patches of skin were missing from his body revealing organs on the inside. You could barely see his lungs moving. He was strung to the ceiling. Several tubes and wires were sticking out of the body. Lots of blood filled tubes strung out of the spots his limbs used to be. The tubes were carrying blood into a device. The wires connected to some sort of yellow glowing box. Gabriel covered his mouth trying not to vomit. The room all of a sudden got colder. Chills ran threw Gabe.
"What the hell have you done Angela?!
"This wasn't me. I'm keeping him alive. He's hooked up to my machine and that box over there is acting as his heart."
"Who is this?"
"This is Genji. I found him in Hanamura, Japan nearly dead."
"You mean this guy isn't dead?!"
"No, like I said. My technology and these pipes connecting to that box are keeping him alive. Don't worry. I have him in hibernation and he can't feel a thing."
"What happened to him?"
"He has a brother named Hanzo. Hanzo was comitted to his families business, but the clan insisted on Genji being killed for the good of the clan. Genji wanted nothing to do with his family's business, so Hanzo killed him, well he tried to. These wounds are from a Japanese blade."
"What are you planning on doing with him? Gabriel asked.
He followed Angela back to the work table. There were blueprints for some sort of body armor. On top of the table was a half finished metal torso and a mechanical arm.
"I'm hoping to save him."
Gabriel stared at the metal body and turned to Angela.
"Angela, do you really think you..."
"I will, *ahem* I'm going to do it. I swear on my life. I will not let Genji die."
Gabriel put his arm around her in a side hug.
"I wish you luck Angie."
Angela looked away trying to hold back tears.
"Thankyou. Please don't tell anyone else about this."
"I won't. Make sure you get some rest tonight."
She nodded before he walked away. Gabriel had a difficult time crawling into bed that night. His back ached and his muscles were in pain. In the morning he attempted to change, but couldn't lift his shirt. Jack chuckled.
"Here let me help."
Jack lifted Gabriel's shirt off, but felt metal on his back. He quickly turned Gabriel around to see the mechanical spine attached to his back. He stood back in shock. There was bruising around the device.
"What the hell is that thing?!"
"It's part of the project don't worry."
"That doesn't answer my question." Jack said in awe. "Wait, this is feom your new recruit isn't it? What has Moira done to you?!"
"If it tell you will you stop asking so many damn questions?!"
Jack sighed and stepped back crossing his arms.
"She's doing an experiment on me."
"Is it dangerous?"
"No, I'm just in a lot of pain. My body is taking time to adjust to the side effects. Moira is enhancing my genetic makeup."
"What do you mean by that?"
Gabriel looked in awe. He grabbed Jacks shoulders and stared at him for a while.
"I'll be able to phase, degenerate, and move like a ghost while still having a solid body."
Jacks eyes grew wide. He pushed Gabe's arms off.
"That sounds dangerous Gabe! What if it kills you?!"
"I don't think it is Jack, but I can't turn back now. This implant is a part of me. Attached to my nerves and spine. It will continue to grow around it, and you have also comitted to helping me."
Gabriel stormed out of the room passing Fareeha's room. Her door was open. He peered inside to see Fareeha sitting at her desk. She looked like she was struggling with something. She looked up to see Gabriel in the doorway. She smiled.
"Gabriel. I feel like I haven't seen you in a long time."
"It has been a while since we've chatted." Gabriel said. Fareeha once again putting a smile on his face. "Whatcha workin on kiddo?"
She looked down then back at him frowning.
"Homework."
"Need any help?"
She nodded. Gabriel walked over and pulled a chair up to the desk. Fareeha scratched her head looking at one of the problems on her paper.
"I was never any good at math."
"Heh, me either."
He examined the problem.
"Oh yeah, these can be tricky. So if both numbers have the same denominator you can add the numerators together and then just put your denominator on the bottom." Gabriel explained.
"Oh so if this says 4/11+6/11 then that equals 10/11?"
"Yeah, that's right. Good job."
Fareeha looked up and smiled at Gabe.
"Thanks Gabriel."
"Anything else you need help with?"
"Yes, what about this one?"
The rest of the morning was spent with Fareeha on her homework. Sometimes they got distracted and talked about something else.
"Y'know my mom doesn't want me to ever become a soldier."
"Why is that?"
"I dunno. She always tells me about the bad things that can happen once you become a soldier, but my dream has always been to be in an army. I want to be a hero like you, Gabriel."
Gabriel put a hand to his chest.
"Flattered."
Fareeha laughed at him.
"You're funny Gabriel."
She wrapped her arms around his neck. Without hesitation he hugged her back. All of a sudden Ana appeared in the doorway.
"Oh, there you are. You missed breakfast Fareeha." Ana said.
"Sorry mother. Gabriel was helping me with homework."
"Is that so?" Ana said looking at Gabe. "Thankyou."
"Yeah. No problem."
Fareeha stood up grabbing Gabe's hand and walking down to the kitchen.
"Lets go have breakfast Gabriel!"
It hurt Gabriel's back to walk, but he didn't care. The smile on his face kept him going.
