Chapter 15

06:50, 24 March 2020

I learned that there were two types of exhaustion. The type which made your bones and mind feel drained.... like in the war. And the type that made it hard to keep your eyes open and not snap at everyone. The second one was unfortunately Rhys and I.

Gawain or G as Cassian started to call him seemed to sleep all day and scream all night. Night court heir indeed. It was today that the inner circle would meet to discuss the attack that happened. We had to push it back a week because of how tired Rhys and I were.

As we walked into the house of wind, taking a seat at the long table Cassian said what they were all probably thinking. "You both look like you got tossed in the cauldron and fought you way out." Rhys let out a low growl, but I managed to scoff. Maybe it was because I got an extra 30 minutes of sleep last night.

"So is it the baby or your inability to keep hands of each other keeping you up at night?" He very well new the question to that. Rhys just groaned and put his head onto the table. I leveled a stare to Cassian that would of sent lesser fae running and rubbed my temples to try and rid the oncoming headache.

"Where is our nephew?" Mor chirped in. "The twins are watching him for now." Rhys mumbled. "Let's just get this meeting over with so I can sleep." I replied.

I could have sworn I saw a smile form on Az's lips. Ever since he finally got over Mor, he's seemed happier. More involved. Why he decided now was the time to finally rid his feeling, I may have an answer to that. Elain still refuses to talk with Lucien. What that means for their bond, is still uncertain but both my sisters seemed very close to making a decision on that matter.

"Why was this meeting called again?" Elain said sweetly. Az looked up to her, eyes meeting and he said with no judgment "the attack on Feyre. How he came into our city. Why. The power he had." She nodded but sat back in her chair as if she knew we would take care of this. Rhys stiffened at the words, no doubt remembering the moment. I only waved my hands as to say continue and leaned my hand on my arm, eyes closing for a quick second.

Don't fall asleep darling

I'm not I said my eyes fluttering open again

Hmmmm was his only reply

"I'm sure we all have a guess as to where that power came from." Cassian began.

"It looks like the power Hybern used in the war." Nesta added.

All three Illyrian's nodded

"But I thought everything was quiet on their end. Peaceful since the new ruler." I asked

Az nodded "it has. Even now my spies tell me everything is fine on their end. But there has been a small rebel group that was left over the war. I had heard nothing of it in months.... thought they disappeared.... but I guess I was wrong." That was indeed guilt crossing over his eyes. "It wasn't your fault Az." I murmured. The rest of the circle nodding in agreement. He nodded but I could tell he still Blamed himself.

Rhys looked over to Amren who was picking her nails with her knife.

"There was no breach in the wards." She said. "However, they got in, it wasn't through magic."

The Illyrians turned their heads. Thinking. Calculating. Always a warrior.

I'm surprised you didn't find all this out by yourself like you normally do

I was a little busy darling

Feels nice when you can depend on others doesn't it.

He knew I was talking about the war. His death. I could see it in the ways his eyes fogged.

Last time I checked, Feyre darling. You are on the same boat I am

Tired and snappy. That's what Rhys and I were. And I could sense I fight coming. I didn't want to fight but I couldn't help the growl that came out of me.

The others looked between us. The expression on our faces and quickly found another topic matter to discuss. But Nesta was not having it.

"Can you too cranky pants be quiet for two seconds so we can get this meeting over with?!"

Elain out right stared at her sister but Mor and Cassian tried to hold back a laugh and failed. I scowled but apologized to Rhys through the bond. He did the same.

"So why do they want Feyre?" Elain asked trying to steer the conversation again.

Cassian shook his head, but Az answered. "Not Feyre" the unspoken words said enough......Gawain. "So soon" I croaked out. "Why?" My voice cracked and tears threatened to overcome me. Rhys Laid his hand on mine and I squeezed it back.

"It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Gawain has a large amount of power. But that power...... I've never seen any like it other than from you and Rhys." Cassian added.

Az nodded in agreement and Rhys rubbed his temples.

"Well it seems that nothing can be decided until we learn more about them." Rhys said as he nodded at Az. The shadow singer disappeared with a power I still did not understand. I stood up along with everyone in the table and shot out my wings preparing to fly home.

Please tell me we are going home darling

I smiled at Rhys and his frustration. I had never seen him so......tired. He walked towards me and released his own wings.

Straight to bed. The twins said they could take care of Gawain for a couple of hours.

I need to give them a pay raise.

Hmmm I don't think they would know what they would do with that.

He scoffed and we flew home and stumbled into bed, getting the first real sleep in more than a week.
