Chapter 3

17:25, 30 December 2014

Minho ran his normal route, keeping his eyes peeled for any sign of a likely crying and hysterical female.

"Hello?" He called out continuously while running. It wasted his breath, so he had to pace himself and run a little slower to make sure he had enough stamina to last him the whole run.

"Hello?"

Still - there was no reply.

----------

She didn't know how long she had been sitting on the ground and crying, but she knew she had to move.

She had no idea what the maze held in store for her - and she didn't intend to stay in there long enough to find out.

Her mind whizzed as she tried to figure out what to do. She reached into her back pocket and pulled out a swiss army knife.

A small smile crossed her face as the lightbulb above her head lit up.

She cut some vines from the ivy wall and threw them on the ground, leaving a trail.

"I feel like Gretel." She chuckled to herself. Then she paused.

That's strange.

She remebered the story of Hansel and Gretel, but just didn't know when or how she heard of the story. She brushed it off and just assumed it was one of the many weird things that were happening.

I wonder if there are other people here

Are they all stuck here?

What else lives here...

How do I eat or sleep or drink or whatever else?

What if this is just a dream? She pinched herself to make sure.

Nope. It's real.

The overload of questions were making her mind go mad so she focused of creating her trail of vines.

------------------

It was almost lunchtime and Minho was losing hope.

He pulled out his packed lunch and quickly ate it - wanting to return to the search.

Minho tried calling out again- then stopped. He figured it would be wiser to conserve his energy and run more to find her.

After some time of running, Minho stumbled upon a trail of cut off pieces of vines.

This is my section- Thomas' and the other runners' sections are some distance away...and I sure didn't leave this trail of vines here.

What the shuck is going on here? Minho thought to himself.

He quickly ran along the trail of cut ivy vines.

"Hello?" He tried once more.

-------------------------

"Hello?"

She heard a masculine voice call out- from somewhere not too far away.

Is he a friend or foe?

She decided to play it smart and hide and wait to see who this mystery man was.

He must have followed my vine trail.

She quickly found a hiding spot amidst the ivy - a hole at the bottom of the wall- small enough for her to crawl into.

She left the ivy trail up to that point and a little farther beyond, then quickly hid in the small hole.

--------------

Minho followed the trail and then suddenly, the trail vanished.

His fact contorted into an expression of confusion and frustration.

All of a sudden, he heard rustling.

He whipped around, pulling his knives out and getting ready to wound his ambusher.

However, he was taken aback by the sharp piercing scream that echoed through the maze - thanks to no other than his "ambusher"

She jumped a few steps back and held her arms out in a defensive position

"Back away right now" She tried to yell with as much courage she could muster.

"This must be the greenie" Minho thought to himself.

"Whoa whoa calm down greenie. I've come to take you back to the Glade." Minho said with extra caution, while putting his knives back.

She relaxed a little, but didn't let her guard down.

"Glade? What's a Glade? Who are you?" She questioned Minho.

"Lets just say it's the safest place around here." Minho replied calmly.

"Why should I trust you? What if you try to kill me? "

Minho sighed- he didn't have time for this.

"Look shank. There's a higher chance that something in this maze will kill you than me trying to slice your head off. You can either follow me back, or stay here and await death."

She pondered for a moment, still unsure of whether to trust this stranger standing before her.

"No one has survived a night in the maze, greenie. Now come on." Minho said, mentioning for her to follow him.

He turned and started jogging off at a normal pace. returning to his normal route, with her following close behind.

The sky was turning dark and Minho was sure the walls would be closing soon.

He picked up his pace, hoping the greenbean could keep up. She had no choice.

If they didn't make it back by nightfall, they were both dead meat.
