The cheifs dinner

Gilli led me to the armory and pointed out things as we walked saying hello and telling me about the things he's pointed out, I could tell we were near the armory because the heat from the forges came wafting out a good few feet from where it was, I could see a line of villagers with various objects that needed fixing or mending. The men inside reminded me of Gobber and I was hit with another bout of homesickness, reminding me how I would bring Gobber his lunch and join him if he wasn't too busy. I didn't realized I had stopped until Gilli started to pull at my dress removing my hand from my necklace a happy that I've picked up over the years.

There was quite a few men working inside and I decided to wait a bit until I saw Ebbe, it didn't take long for me to see him because of his stature in the back talking to another man. Telling Gilli to wait there I start makeing my way over as fast as I can, and it wasn't untill I was a few feet from both men when they turned to see me. Walking up I reach into the basket and hand ebbe his lunch,

" your lunch from Thora, a woman went into labor and she couldn't make it over, there's some outher meals in here for the outher men I suppose, but she didn't say who they were for."

Ebbe smiles and takes the basket from my hands handing it to the man next to him, soon enough the man shouted.

" MEALS HERE MEN, THE LASS BROUGHT IT COME AND GET IT!"

Soon we were swarmed by men and I was nearly thrown down if Ebbe didn't grab my arm and pull me out of the way of the stampede of burly and sweaty men racing to the basket. It soon calmed and the men dispersed back to where they came from eating their meals.

" so your the lady we saved from the beast a bit ago eh?"

" yes, I'm Alayah, I must say this village is... quite different from what I'm used to but it's nice nonetheless, and who are you may I ask?"

" ah sorry if I was rude my names Selby hallsson, lady Alayah, I see that staff has been doing you well so far, quite a piece of work if I do say so meself."

" you made it? Well I thank you, the craftsmanship is amazing and I don't think I'll be giving it away any day soon."

" I'm glad you like it Alayah, though i must say you don't speak like any of the village-folk I know around these parts, now why is that?"

" That may be because I'm not from around these parts selby, dragons can fly you know and if you must know I'm quite a ways away from my home."

" Hahahah! Well you have quite a sharp tung there lass, im sure your village won't be missing that part of you"

I grip my staff at the comment wanting to thwack him with the end but I restrain myself and smile.

" oh trust me if I know my village there's quite a few people looking for me, and unless you want to fight a battle that you won't be able to win I suggest you hold yours, mr selby hallsson. I'll see you at the hut ebbe."

Turning back with one last glare at selby I leave the men, going to find Gilli or wander for a bit. I never did find Gilli I figured he wandered off after he got bored or something. The day ended and I had walked through most of the village only stopping to sit in the grass every now and then for a break. Over the next few days I got the layout of the village and knew where the hut is along with some outher buildings, I had seen Olaf and his freinds at least once a day either all together or separate. I had conversed with some of the woman as well preferring the company of the older woman as opposed from the younger one and soon the day came where I would have to tell my story to the Cheif and his family.

Thora and Ebbe didn't give me much to go by about the chief and his family neither his second in command, they did however tell me it was ok to tell him where I was from. And it wasn't untill we arrived at the Cheifs but I was given a surprise.

At the table sat selby hallsson and a woman who I can assume is his wife, who sat next to the Cheif, the Cheifs wife on one end and the Cheif at the outher end. The Cheif, his wife and his second stood to greet us as we entered. Quickly makeing their way over.

" welcome Alayah, we are happy to see that you are healing well, my names cheif Grimm suitsson and my wife Bera Eidottir, as well as my second in command Ham Svartsson. At the table is my daughter Inga and her husband who I've heard you have met already?"

" it's nice to meet you all, I hope my previous interactions have not spoiled your view of me, shall we sit while we talk some more?"

" oh yes of course"

We all take our seats and I sit next to Ham and across from Selby the. The conversation picked up again this time Bera the Cheifs wife asked me a question.

" so alayah how are you healing? I've heard you had a fever for most of your stay due to infection was it?"

" yes it was my leg that gave Thora the most trouble, you see a dragons teeth have bad things on it that can cause infections I was very grateful to even survive the attack let alone live afterwards."

" and do tell but why did the dragons attack you miss Alayah? I along with the rest of village are quite curious as to why you were targeted."

I relay the same story that I had told Ebbe and Thora before hand, and what I rememberd and I could see everyone become interested in the story.

" wow, I am sorry you had to go through that miss Alayah, now on a lighter note let's eat now"

The night was filled with food and drinks and lighter conversations and it wasn't untill later on after everyone had eaten they started to question me again.

" alayah? If you don't mind me asking what's that necklace? I'd notice earlier that you were rubbing it when you were telling your story?"

" oh, well this necklace is a dragon scale that I found, there's only two outher scales that match, I made it for me and my children the indents in the necklace represent each one of us so we are allways together"

" oh dear that's so sweet, what's your children's names? Are they back at your village?"

" ahem, well one is, my son should be at the village, he's probably worried out of his mind for me but he's a man now has a fairly important job as well, the outher is my daughter, she-she's with the gods due to a man attacking the house we lived in because he didn't get what he wanted. The man got what was comeing to him in the end though, hel is dealing with his soul as we speak"

" I'm sorry to hear that and their names?"

" oh yes right, well my daughters name was Helena, and my sons is Eret, maybe one day I can introduce him to your family"

I didn't look at ebbe or Thora as I said the names because I knew that they would recognize them and I couldn't take the looks that they would have on their faces.

" and what does this important son of yours do? I mean you threatened to fight us how are we to know if your lying or not Alayah??"

" well, selby, my son eret is the second in command to the Cheif of my village and the village Cheifs mother happens to be an old freind of mine, if they haven't sent out the riders to look for me yet then that's means something is far more important"

" ahem- ignore my son in law Alayah, but what do you mean riders? Your not from this land and any horse wouldn't be able to reach here"

" apologies Cheif Grimm, I have been hesitant to tell you all where I'm from or my titles as you would treat me differently, and I think that someone's true nature shouldn't be.... hidden by fear of someone's heritage"

" that is quite an admirable thing to say but we have to know where you are from or we won't be able to get you back I'm shure you understand?"

" all right then, first you should know my titles, my name is alayah gudrirsdottir, I am a healer for humans and dragons, they call me the dragon mother and the dragon speaker, i am from the hooligan village on the isle of burk, my Cheif is hiccup horrendous haddock the third the dragon tamer, and my best freind is his mother, my only son eret eretson is his second in command."

Silence...
