Chapter Thirteen

07:13, 16 February 2026

Her Quirk had no use on this. Some of her classmates may had the upper hand on the current obstacle, "The Fall" is what Present Mic name it. Self-fitting to be fair, scattered stone pillars that are connected by tightropes where the players have to cross through, and with one slip they'll plunge into the pit of darkness below. It was probably guarded by safety nets to catch them, but [Y/N] still found it hazardous.

But then again...the school has those Zero Bots...[Y/N]'s parents were watching the stream from their home, and she could practically hear her mom voicing her dislike towards the school. Nothing could change the old woman's mind even if she continuously supports her daughter's decisions. She looked ahead, seeing Shishida still in his Beast Form and carrying some of their peers. He went on ahead to the race after completing, but Shiozaki and Tsuburaba stayed on the other side.

Tsuburaba cupped a hand close to his mouth and yell. "Now Kendo!"

What are they up to? Something grabbed [Y/N], trapping her inside of their class rep's big hands. Kendo was clutching Awase on the other, the boy sweating from fatigue and fear. [Y/N]'s eyes widened at what's about to happen. "Uh...hey Kendo? You know I could just cross though normally..."

"Y-yeah..! What [Y/N] said!" Awase protested, only to be ignored as Kendo winded the two back with the right amount of power to throw them across The Fall in one swing. Terrfied screams from [Y/N] echoed along with Awase cursing at Kendo while they spiral through the air, followed by vines and a circular, solidified air catching them.

The girl didn't move in shock. "...what the fuck?!"

"Such vulgarity!" Shiozaki scolded, setting [Y/N] to the ground. A groan came out of Awase, a cheek smothered against the solidified air and body twitching from the impact.

"Sorry man," Tsuburaba said trying to contain his laughter. [Y/N] pried the pained boy from the platform after Shiozaki urged the two to go on ahead as they continue catch the upcoming students from Kendo. She heard Awase murmured something but didn't press further, only encouraging to keep moving forward despite what he's feeling.

"WOAH HOLD UP! WHAT IS THIS?! Some of Class B are flying into the air from Itsuka Kendo's Big Fists! And at the other end Ibara Shiozaki and Kosei Tsuburaba clutching in with the saves!" A laugh slipped between Present Mic's commentary, amused. "This is either a genius strategy or complete chaos—BUT WHO CARES?! Class B is showing us folks what synchronization means folks!"

"I think I just heard Mr. Vlad..." Awase grumbled, his senses in a conditional state where he can run properly but [Y/N] still kept a close eye beside. "Or am I still dizzy?"

A familiar shouted was captured by the mic, followed by Present Mic's surprise and Eraserhead's tired complaint. The girl sighed. "Nope, he's in the announcer booth alright..."

After a spur of incoherent protests Present Mic had kicked Vlad King out. "Sorry 'bout that folks! Anyway—where we're we...? Oh yeah—GET READY TO WELCOME THE FIRST PLACER SOON BECAUSE WE'RE NOW ON TO THE LAST OBSTACLE!"

The path up ahead rumbled. It was a faint shake, but it can still be felt, then something fogged towards the clouds. Pink smoke, lots of it. As [Y/N] and Awase got close to the last obstacle, they witnessed many swept off the ground along with the smokes. Todoroki wasn't using his Quirk, eyes on the ground while taking cautious steps.

"THE MINEFIELD! Oh, and a quick note—the landmines are designed not to be harmful. BUT STILL HAS ENOUGH POWER TO FLING YOU OFF TO THE EDGE!"

They planned it well... The previous obstacles main objectives were to pass through efficiently surveying the scenes, unlike this one, hidden underneath, there were lumps to distinguished where the landmines are, but the movements were limited and so were power usage. The obstacle also had the advantage for many players to catch up to the ones leading ahead. Another weak point for Todoroki, if he did ice the ground to not detonate the mines and run others would use the frozen path. [Y/N] moved with caution, eyes on the ground while the ignitions all around were nothing but background noise.

Someone zoomed past her it broke her concertation. It was Bakugo, flying across the field and not bothering if his Explosions triggered the mines. He had only one thing in mind as he aimed a hand on Todoroki while the other produced ice on his arm to deflect. It went on as they moved, Bakugo now on his feet and avoiding the lumps while exchanging blows. [Y/N] steadied her breath to refocus as she tiptoed over the safe spots, eyes trained on the dirt once more.

But another boom distracted her, this time it was ten times louder it made everyone except the two stop their tracks. Some including her almost lost their balance. It came far behind the minefield, a big cloud of pink displaying the sudden commotion. Among the gas, something spurred up high from it, leaving a trail. [Y/N] can pinpoint from the greenish color it was a metal plate of a Pointer Bot, but there's no way a metal part would set something off that huge, and the Bots were all the way from the starting point of the race.

Someone carried a part of it? [Y/N] questioned herself. None of the students knew what the obstacles would be, yet someone still stole and held a discarded junk to the end until it could be useful. She looked around the field, trying to identify the culprit. Iida beat her to it; she heard him from the other side of the mines yell their name in disbelief. The girl had the same reaction when she turns her head up.

"Midorya?!" He had an identical speed boost like Bakugo, even surpassing it with him now leading. [Y/N] huffed in awe—throughout the race not once she saw him use his Quirk, only his mind and instinct. For someone who fractures easily, it was about time for him to take self-points when to not use it. He launched himself using the plate again to set off a bunch of mines, this time with Bakugo and Todoroki as standees when they realized who it was making them stop their fight and chase after him.

In the end, the first placer of the game was Midorya, followed by Todoroki then Bakugo. [Y/N] came after Awase, panting with her hands on her knees, later Uraraka joining the group with some of her classmates.

"Deku! What was that?!" She exclaimed between her breaths, using the last of her energy to ran up to him. "What went to your mind when you come up with that plan?! It was so cool, I'm so jealous!"

Midorya stammered in reply, it was hard to make out from the way he tried to cover his face with his arms and eyes away from the girl, though [Y/N] caught a glimpse of light flush on the boy's freckles. A quiet chuckle escaped from her as Uraraka continued. "You had us speechless back there! Even Iida!"

The said boy was on the side sputtering still in disbelief. [Y/N] left the trio to rejoin her class, she didn't even noticed Shiozaki finished before her—it was quite remarkable. Seemed like her along with Honenuki and Tetsutetsu were in the top ten. Most of Class A finished and so does Class B, even the student from General Studies got in plus a girl with pink locks who's wearing a ton of support gears. Midnight officially concluded the first game and displayed the overall rankings into the screen.

"Quite a show you've put on my dears!" Midnight said, enticing the audience with more thrill than ever. "Unfortunately, only the top forty-three will advance on the next round. Don't worry—" She winked an eye. "—we have other games for you to participate in later."

"Now..." Midnight raised a hand to signal the slot-like screen on the display. "On to the next game!"

...

'SECOND GAME: CALVARY BATTLE'

"I think you all know how this works—" The slot changed into a picture of three different Pro Heroes positioned in a familiar formation. Midnight pointed the screen with her flogger whip. "—each of you must form a team with at least two to four members. In order to advance in the final game, a point system is declared. The rider must wear the total points of the team either on their head or around their neck."

"The goal is to protect your points and steal as much as you can from the other teams. For the point system—" The rankings screen displayed specific numbers on the side of each contestant."—will be multiples of five. Starting at the bottom will have the least number of points."

"And as for the one of the top..." A savaged grin crept up to the Pro Hero's expression. "...math isn't on your side. Ten million points worth to steal!"

A/N: HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! 🎇I planned to replace Aoyoma for this game but decided to keep him. For the sake of the story 43 students are in the Calvary Battle. Based on this I think you already know who [Y/N] or you will be teaming up with hehe. Also I might not be consistent with my updates right now, currently feeling sick and family's business has been booming which I am so grateful for! 💕 May this year be kind to us and being more opportunities.
