"No way! We're a trio, Megumi. We stick together!"_

The air was thick with tension. Megumi sat in the passenger seat, arms crossed, watching Gojo break every possible traffic law as they sped toward the school. The car was eerily silent—except for the hum of the engine and the distant sounds of the city. Megumi finally broke the silence.
"You don't think Naomi could see it, do you?" Gojo's jaw tightened.
"No. She's... ordinary." He hated saying that. It wasn't a bad thing. She was his little sister—the only normal one in their family.
But normal didn't survive in their world.
Megumi frowned. "Then why do you look so—" Before he could finish, Gojo threw something at him. Megumi instinctively caught it, eyes narrowing when he looked down.A small, familiar plushie sat in his palm.
"Kageyama?"
"Guard it with your life," Gojo said, serious but teasing. "If Naomi doesn't see that when we get there, she won't even let us inside." Megumi scoffed, rolling his eyes. "You're unbelievable." Gojo let out a short chuckle, but his grip on the wheel tightened. Something felt wrong. He could feel it. And as they neared Naomi's school, the overwhelming sense of dread only grew stronger.
He didn't know why. He didn't know how. But deep down—he knew.
They weren't getting there in time.
___
Gojo landed first, the moment his feet touched the ground, his head snapped up—sensing it immediately. The curse. And Naomi.
"Tch. Megumi—keep up." Megumi barely had time to adjust before Gojo disappeared, flickering across the school grounds in an instant. And the moment he saw Naomi— The blood on her hands. The way her body trembled as she stared at a motionless form. The curse lunging at her. Gojo didn't even think. He flicked his wrist—
And erased it from existence. "What did I say about wandering off, Naomi?"
His voice was light, almost teasing, but she wasn't stupid. His usual playful lilt carried an undercurrent of something much colder. Naomi's breath came in short, uneven gasps. She turned her head slowly, almost hesitantly—to where Riri's body lay.
She was still there. Still unmoving. Still— The realization slammed into her like a tidal wave.
"Riri-chan..." Her voice wavered. Weak. Small. Gojo didn't say anything at first. He just stared at her, unreadable, before exhaling through his nose. Then, with a softer tone—
"I'm here." Naomi clenched her fists so hard her nails dug into her palm. Her entire body trembled, not from fear—but from something much worse. Because no matter how much her brother could protect her now... He hadn't been here when it mattered most
Megumi arrived moments after Gojo.
His feet barely touched the ground before his eyes took in the scene. Naomi stood frozen, her entire body trembling. Her arms, her hands—covered in blood. But she wasn't injured. No, that blood— His gaze followed hers. A body lay motionless. A girl. Her uniform, the same as Naomi's. Her limbs—twisted unnaturally. Her eyes—lifeless. Megumi's stomach dropped.
"...No." He knew Riri. He knew what she meant to Naomi. And Naomi—she wasn't moving. She wasn't even blinking. She just stood there, staring. The blood on her hands looked almost unreal, like paint smeared across fragile skin. Her chest rose and fell, but barely—as if even breathing was a struggle.
"Naomi." She didn't react. Megumi stepped closer. Gojo, standing nearby, said nothing—his usual playful demeanor completely absent. His hands were clenched into fists. His entire body was tense. Megumi kneeled beside Riri's body. He didn't need to check—he already knew. But Naomi—she hadn't moved. She wasn't crying. She wasn't speaking. She was just standing there. Like she wasn't even in her own body anymore. Megumi exhaled slowly. He knew that feeling. As Megumi kneeled beside Riri's body, memories flooded his mind—ones he hadn't thought about in years.
"Megumi, hurry up! You walk like an old man!" Naomi's voice rang through the empty school hallways as she and Riri ran ahead, laughing. Megumi followed at his own pace, hands in his pockets. "And you two are running like idiots. What's the rush?" Naomi whipped around, walking backward with a smirk. "Because, Mr. Grumpy, if we don't hurry, all the melon bread will be gone!" Riri linked arms with Naomi, grinning. "And we all know Naomi might actually cry if she doesn't get her favorite snack."
Naomi gasped dramatically. "Riri, how could you betray me like this?!" Megumi sighed, but the corner of his lips twitched. "Then go. I'll catch up." Naomi pouted.
"No way! We're a trio, Megumi. We stick together!" Riri nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! Even if Megumi acts all cool and uninterested, he totally loves hanging out with us." Naomi giggled.
"True! He's just a tsundere." Megumi groaned. "You two are insufferable." Yet, despite his complaints, he never once left their side.
"Riri, I swear if you mess up my hair, I'm disowning you as my best friend!" Naomi squirmed as Riri tied her hair into a ponytail. Megumi sat nearby, reading a book, but Naomi's constant whining was making it impossible to focus. "Stop moving, you baby," Riri scolded, tugging at Naomi's hair. "Ugh, why am I even in this tournament? Megumi, let's switch places." Megumi raised a brow.
"You think I want to be in a volleyball tournament?"
"Fair point." Riri giggled, tying the last band. "There! You look perfect." Naomi pouted.
"I better. If I trip and fall, I'm blaming you." Megumi sighed. "If you trip and fall, it's because you're clumsy." Naomi threw a towel at him. "Shut up, Fushiguro."
He caught it effortlessly, smirking.
"Make me, Gojo." Naomi scoffed, rolling her eyes, but with a small smile.
Megumi swallowed hard.
That warmth—that Naomi— felt like a lifetime ago. Now, she stood motionless, blood staining her hands.
Riri would never tease her again. Never fix her hair before a match. Never call them a trio again.
Megumi clenched his fists. "Naomi, you're not alone." His voice was softer now. "We're still here." But when Naomi finally looked at him—he wasn't sure if she even heard him. "Naomi, we have to go." Still—nothing. His hand brushed her shoulder. And finally—finally—she flinched. Her head turned slowly, painfully slow, and when she looked at him—Her eyes were hollow.
Empty.
And for the first time in a long time—Megumi didn't know what to say. A hand gently touched her head. Naomi barely reacted, but the warmth slowly pulled her from the overwhelming silence. "It's okay, Naomi," Gojo murmured, voice softer than she had ever heard before. Her wide, unfocused eyes finally blinked.
"I... I couldn't—" Her voice broke. Gojo gently pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her.
"You're safe now, kid." His usual teasing tone was gone. No jokes, no sarcasm. Just quiet reassurance. Naomi stiffened at first, but then—she buried her face into his jacket. Gojo closed his eyes, resting his chin lightly on her head. "You don't have to say anything. Just breathe." She shook violently, gripping his sleeve like a lifeline.
Meanwhile, Megumi silently knelt beside Riri's body. He hesitated for just a second—then, with careful hands, he lifted her, adjusting her arms so she looked like she was just sleeping. His jaw tightened. She deserved more than this. As he rose to his feet, he looked toward Naomi—just in time to see her legs buckle.
"Naomi!" Gojo moved immediately, steadying her before she could collapse. Her fingers weakly clutched his coat. "She's gone..." Gojo held her closer.
"I know." Her breathing hitched.
"It hurts, 'Toru." Gojo's heart clenched at the old childhood nickname. "I know, kiddo."
And then—her body went limp. She had finally lost consciousness.
The white walls of the infirmary felt eerily silent. Gojo stood beside Naomi's bed, arms crossed, his usual carefree demeanor nowhere to be seen. Shoko, sitting nearby with a cigarette between her fingers, sighed. "She's fine, just exhausted. It's mostly mental stress rather than physical injuries. She'll wake up soon." Gojo nodded, but his gaze remained on Naomi. She looked so small. His fingers twitched. How did this even happen?
A talisman shouldn't just disappear like that. Someone had to remove it, or—something did. His mind ran through possibilities. Was it deliberate? An accident? Was someone targeting Naomi? "Tch." His jaw clenched. No matter what, someone was going to pay. Just then, the door creaked open. Megumi stepped inside, his usual scowl deeper than ever. But Gojo immediately noticed the torn paper in his hands.
"What's that?" Gojo asked, already feeling something off. Megumi walked over, holding it out. His expression was tense. "I found this in Naomi's bag."
Gojo took the paper, his fingers brushing over the shredded remnants of a talisman. His eyes darkened behind his blindfold. "...You're kidding."
Why was it in Naomi's bag? How did it end up there? A heavy silence filled the room.
And just like that—another mystery unfolded.
