Chapter 37 ~ Lost A Hero

Victoria's Pov

It was about I don't know six in the morning. I was really tired but I couldn't sleep. My sister is pregnant and I can't wrap my head around that. I remember her when she was just a little baby taking her first steps. Now my baby sister is having a baby. I hope she's ready. I've seen her with Judith...yeah that's her name. I've seen her with Judith and she's awesome with her.

"Okay Vic, let's go!" Merle calls "What are we doing?" I ask as he opens my holding cell, "Rick wants me to check the tombs, he wants me to bring you." They must be opening up to me.

Merle lets me out and we walk to the tombs. "You know, my sister is pregnant." I say "Oh really." He says walking deeper into the tombs. "Yeah, she told me yesterday, when she found out." He nods.

I wonder why we are in here anyway. I mean are going to do something?

"Hey what ar-"

I felt a pound on my head before I fell and consumed by darkness.

I wake up, but I'm not in the prison. I'm on the side of the road In the middle of no where. I look around and see Merle sitting besides me. "What the hell!" I yell while touching the bump on my head. "Your up finally." Merle smiles "What the fuck is going on!?" I ask as he ties my hands together. "Nothin. Just a simple trade." A trade..what the.

"What are you talking about!? Where are you taking me?" I ask as he starts leading me down the road. He stays quite. "Merle tell me now!" I scream "Calm down hot stuff! Your gonna attract biters." I roll my eyes and decide to stay quite.

My mind fills with thoughts about Alex. It's somewhat maybe ten in the morning. That's what it feels like. She's probably wondering where I am. My eyes start to tear up, but I hold it in.

My thoughts are drained as Merle begins to speak again. "There's a bar over there. We can hot wire a car."

He runs over to the bar and ties me to a pole. "Stay here." he says "Couldn't go anywhere if I tried!" I say sarcastically. I watch as Merle tries to hot wire a car. It's really noisy and it's gonna attract walkers, And of course I was right. Walkers started coming from every direction.

"Merle!" I scream but he can't hear me over the car engine. Shit! Shit! I try to stay calm but then I hear groans coming from beside me. A walker starts walking out the door and comes straight towards me. I don't have a weapon! What am I going to do! I then get an idea.

As the walker gets closer, I run in circles, making the wire I'm tied with wrap around the walkers neck. I pull and pull until it's head pops off. "Yes!" I scream at my accomplishment.

"Victoria! Lets go!" Merle screams cutting the wire off the pole and putting me in the car. We quickly drive away as more walkers arrive.

That was a close one.

We've been on the road for about thirty minutes. "So, you going to tell me what going on?" I ask breaking the silence. "I'm giving you back to the Governor."

Seriously! No!

"Why!?" I scream "What's your problem? I thought you were in love with him?" I sigh "I'm not in love with the guy, okay! I love my sister and now I might never be able to see her again!"

The tears I kept in from the moment I woke up just came pouring out.

Then the car stopped.

"What? Why are you stopping!" I ask "I thought you were taking me to that douche bag!" I scream. Merle is silent. "Look, we've always fought, but I care about you. Your like a little sister to me. I'm sorry okay. Now, I want you to go back alright. Your little sister needs you." I'm shocked at his words. Merle never said anything that nice to me ever! This group must have changed him like it changed me. He cuts me lose and opens the door. I get out. "What about you?" I ask. "I have something I need to take care of, it will help you and everyone at the prison, it will save your niece or nephew." he says.

Even though what he's doing sounds dangerous, I know he can do it so I nod. I shut the door and stand there as I watch him drive off.

I've been walking and walking. I'm close, I can feel it. I'm walking in a field and see some one ahead. The person sees me and starts running, as they get close I realize who it is. Its Daryl.

"Where's my brother?" He asks. "I don't know he said he had something to take care of." I explain. "Damn! I know where he went." he says running the direction I just came from. "Hey, I'm coming with you!" I say while catching up to him.

We ran until we came across, what looks like a garage, or shack of some sort. "Why would he come here?" I ask Daryl. "This is where the governor and Rick were going to meet today. I'm guessing since Merle let you go, he would come here to try and kill the Governer."

If I knew that I wouldn't have let him go! Fuck me!

We walk around the place. Dead bodies every where. Some I knew. There were a couple walkers but not to many where we were freaking out. We turned the corner and...

"Oh my gosh." I say as I see what was once Merle, feasting on a dead human. My eyes fill with tears as I watch Daryl break down. I put my hand over my mouth as Daryl beats his brothers head in with a rock.

I wish I didn't see that.

Daryl falls to the ground crying. I suck up my tears and walk over to Daryl. I take his arm and lift him up, giving him a big hug.

"He died a hero." I whisper.

After an hour of Daryl mourning we decided it was time to go back. We were about half way to the prison and it was dark. The vision of walker Merle filled my mind. There was one thing I noticed, he had a gunshot wound in his chest. The Governer...he killed him.

I decided to keep quite for Daryls sake.

We reach the prison. Daryl opens the door and we both walk in. We just stand there looking at eachother , we both just experienced something horrifying.

"Victoria?" Alex says walking into the cafeteria. "I thought Rick sent you away." she says "Merle let me go." She sighs "Good because Rick relized he made a mistake." I nod "Where is Merle?" She asks. I look at Daryl who was about to cry. "Go to bed and we will talk In the morning." I say "Okay." she says suspiciously walking back to her cell.

Today, we lost a hero.

Just in case you guys didn't know, this chapter is a filler of what happened last chapter, the things we didn't see. At the end of last chapter Alex heard people walking in to the prison...well now we know who it was :-)
