Chapter 4

08:00, 17 November 2013

I heard someone come in the room. I quickly opened my eyes and sat up. It was Zak. He came in the room and looked back at me.

"Hey, you can stay, if you want. Just don't make too much noise. I need to get some sleep." He told me. I got off of the bed as he came closer. I saw that Leonard was sitting on the floor. Zak looked at me from across the large bed, then back at the bed.

"Please don't run out. I usually will sleep on Nick's floor. Please just stay in here." He told me. I could understand why he didn't want to be alone. I wouldn't want to be wither with all the things that were following him.

"I will stay in here, for you." I told him. He then looked at the bed then at me.

"I am going to sleep. You can join me, if you want." He said as he got under the covers. He then laid on his side facing away from me. I looked around the room and it felt sort of crowded. I then saw that Leonard was standing next to me.

"They aren't going to bother you. You are wearing that necklace. Besides, he looks like he had a rough night." He told me. I sighed and looked back at Zak. He was already asleep. I then got in the bed, next to him.

I laid there and thought about what I was going to do with all of the attatchments. I knew that there were a couple that I needed to get rid of first. I watched them walk around the room and torment each other. It was funny, once in a while. But I knew that they had a hold over Zak.

I then heard Zak start moaning. He had been asleep for almost two hours now. I saw that his fists were clenched and there was something that was really wrong with him. I looked above his head and there was one of the attatchments. It didn't realize that I was looking right at it. The only way that I could stop it, would be to wake him up.

"Zak, Zak, wake up. Come on. It's just a dream." I said as I shook him. My actions seemed to have no effect on him. I then shook him a little harder and there was still no result. I then remembered that he had told me about sleeping on the floor of Nick's room.

"Damn it." I said as I rolled out of the bed. I grabbed the key and I ran down the hall. I didn't bother putting shoes on. When I got to Nick's room, I knew that he would be asleep. I started knocking on the door anyway.

"Please be a light sleeper." I muttered as I knocked on his door. He then opened it.

"What is it?" Nick whined to me. He was sleeping and he wasn't really happy that I was there.

"Zak is having a nightmare and I havve no idea how to wake him up." I told him. He sighed and seemed to lighten his mood a little.

"Let's go then." He motioned to me. I smiled at him and the two of us walked down the hall. I opened the door and I saw that there were more around him. Zak was really trying to fight. Nick sighed and walked over to this friend.

"Zak, wake up." Nick said loudly. Zak moaned a little, but he still didn't wake. Nick then looked at the bathroom. He walked in there and I heard the sink run. I wasn't too sure what he was doing. When he came back in the room, he had a cup with him. Nick then held it over his face and poured a little water on Zak.

"No!" Zak yelled as he bolted up. Nick took a step away from him.

"Dude, that was a really bad one." Nick said as he stood there. Zak was gasping as he looked around the room. He looked at me and I saw that he had a pained look on his face.

"Did I hurt you?" He asked me.

"What?" I replied. Why would he think that?

"Did I hurt you, Lea?" Zak asked clearer. He was really concerned about this.

"No, you didn't. I got Nick, because you said that you had slept on his floor before. I figured that you had nightmares before me." I told him. He looked a little relieved once I told him that. He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair.

"Do you want me to take it from here?" Nick asked me. I looked at him in a strange way.

"No, I think that I can pour water on his head, when we starts fighting again." I told him. Nick smiled and looked at Zak.

"Go on to bed Nick." Zak said quickly as he laid back in the bed. Nick sighed and left the room. I watched him go to his room. Once he was in his room, I shut the door and I looked back as Zak.

"I feel like he was going to tell me something." I said to Zak as I sat on the other side of the bed.

"He was, but it doesn't mean anything." He mumbled. I could hear a bit of embarrassment. I smiled and laid down.

"What was he going to say?" I asked quietly as I turned to light off.

"I just like to know that someone is in the room with me. I wil turn a radio on or something like that." He told me.

"Or have someone lay next to you." I said quietly. I knew that was what Nick was going to do. I turned on my side and Zak was facing me.

"Do you want me to lay closer to you?" I asked quietly. He said nothing as he held his hand out. I took it and he closed his eyes. This was a little strange for me, but I was okay with it.

I laid there and looked at Zak sleep. He seemed to be a bit better as he held my hand. When he let go of my hand and moved a little, I was afraid that he was having a nightmare. I watched him and he did nothing more. I could hear that his breathing was slow.

I moved a little closer to him. Leonard told me that I should, so that he didn't wake again. Our shoulders were touching at this point. I was afraid that he wouldn't want me this close to him. We weren't really close.

Leonard kept telling me all of these things about anything. He was walking along the bottom of the bed. He was really passionate when he talked. He then told me about the other attatchments. We would have to do some stuff today about them.

I noticed that Zak was wearing my necklace still. It was nice that he would wear it. I finaly fell asleep after laying there for a while. I felt Zak move a little more into me as I fell asleep. I wasn't really going to do anything about it.

"Lea, arre you okay?" I heard Zak say to me. I woke up and looked at him. He was sitting up and he looked really worried.

"I think I am. Why?" I asked him quickly. I sat up and looked at my arms and legs. Everything seemed to be working.

"I thought that I had squashed you. I was practically using you as a pillow. Did you not feel that?" He asked me. I shook my head.

"I guess I felt pressue, but I obviously didn't respond. Don't worry; you didn't hurt me." I told him. He sighed and looked around the room.

"Was someone walking on the bottom of the bed? While I was sleeping?" He asked. He felt Leonard walking.

"Nope, no one was. You may have been dreaming." I told him. He seemed to agree with that statement. He then got out of the bed and walked to his suitcase.

"So Aaron, Nick, and I want to talk to you about some stuff." He told me. I nodded my head as I got out of the bed.

"Tell me when I come back. I am going to be back in like ten minutes." I told him. He didn't say aynthing as I left the room. I exited the hotel and I retreated to my car.

"What are you doing?" Leonard asked me. I unlocked the door and I got in the small car.

"I have to change into some fresh clothes. Please don't look. That is a little creepy." I told him. He rolled his eyes and truned his back. I pulled out a new shirt and a new pair of jeans. Before I changed my top, I looked around for anyone who would be watching. When I saw that the coast was clear, I changed quickly.

I pulled on my new pants as I exited the car. Once I had shut it, I was able to see my reflection in the black paint. My outfit was on correctly and it looked pretty good. I had grabbed my leather jacket to go over my shirt. I then went back in the hotel.

When I got back to Zak's room, I saw that the door was open and I heard Aaron's voice. they were already talking with him about what he wanted to talk to me about. I sighed and walked in the room.

"Hey, what did I miss?" I asked them. I then saw the clock. It was already 2 in the afternoon.

"Let's fill you in. We are going to be driving with you to the next location. It isn't too far from here." Nick told me.

"We were also wondering if you would like to be apart of the crew." Aaron added. I looked at th three of them like they were kidding.

"Is this about how I don't have a job? Or what made the three of you want me to be with you all?" I asked them. I then remembered their necklaces. I walked to the bathroom, since none of them were talking.

"Well it is a little of that and we think that you could be a good part to the team." Aaron told me as I came back in the room with the pendants.

"What would I be doing?" I asked them.

"You could do whatever you feel comfortable with. We will be meeting with Billy at our next location. So you could be with us in the places, or with him watching the video feeds." Zak explained to me. I then sorted the necklaces in my hands.

"I will make my mind up when we get there." I told them. I would really have to think about it. I then walked over to Nick and I handed him two necklaces.

"These are for the three of you. It will help with everything." I told them. I then handed Aaron his. He looked at them with a smile. I could tell that Nick was really wary about them. I then handed Zak his other one. He didn't even look at it as he put it on. He knew that they would help.

"So where are we going to next?" I asked them.

"It's an abandonded hospital in Houston." Nick told me. I then chuckled.

"I think that we could get there by tonight." I told them. I had driven farther in a day.

"That's good." Aaron said.

"So are we all taking my car? Or what are we doing?" I asked them.

"No, you are taking your car and we are taking the van. We will follow you, since you sound so confident that we will get there soon." Zak told me. I was glad that they all weren't in my car. That would be really crowded.

"Okay, then. I guess we are leaving once you are all packed up?" I asked them. I knew that I was right. It was really a stupid question.

"You sure are quick." Nick said with a smile. I could already tell that out relationship would be similar to that of siblings. He then left the room. Aaron did the same and I was left with Zak.

"Do you need any help?" I asked him. He shook his head as he tossed stuff in his bag.

I sat on the bed as he put his stuff in the bag. I thought that he neded some help, but he kept telling me that he didn't. When he was done, I took all the stuff that was in the bathroom and I put it back in the paper bag. I took it out of the room and I followed Zak to the check out desk.

Nick and Aaron were waiting for the two of us. While Zak was dealing with the hotel room and such, I took his bag and I went to stand with Aaron and Nick. they were talking about the location already.

"Hey, is it cool if I ride with you?" Aaron asked me. I looked at him and smiled.

"Yeah, I am okay with it. Why? Does Nick fart while the car moves?" I asked jokingly. Nick started to laugh at that. I was glad that he was okay with me.

"No, at least it isn't too bad. I was just wondering, cuase you might get lonely." He said to me.

"No, you just want the front seat and you know that Zak and I get car sick." Nick said. That sounded more like that was the truth. Aaron smiled at him and shook his head.

"I was trying to be nice to her." He told Nick. I laughed and nodded my head.

"You can have my front seat, Aaron." I told him. He then smiled at me like a little kid would. Zka then came up to us. He grabbed his bag form me and we walked out of the hotel.

"Okay, you guys just follow me and we will get there pretty quick. I know some back roads." I told them. Nick looked at me questioningly. I tried to ignore it. I then went with Aaron to my car. I had to put stuff in the back, to make room for him.

"This is a cool little car." He told me as he got in the car. I smiled at him and started it up.

"It is." I agreed. We then pulled out of the hotel parking lot and waited for Nick and Zak. They cmae up and pulled up behind us. I knew that they were ready, to go. So I led the way to Houston.

The drive there was really fun. Aaron seemed to never run out of things to talk about. It was nice comapred the the quiet drives that I would take by myself. I was able to keep Nick in my review mirror. when I saw that traffic was getting pretty bad, I would make sure that we would take the side roads.

"So what is up with you and Zak?" Aaron asked me as we neared Houston. I sighed and gripped the steering wheel a little tighter. I honestly wasn't sure what was going on with the two of us.

"I am just helping him with his attatchments and now we are co-workers." I told him.

"So you are taking the job?" He asked me. I smiled at that. He sounded really excited.

"Yes, I am going to take it. It might be what I need to do with my life. Besides you guys seem to travel a lot anyways." I told him.

"That means that you are going to be seeing a lot of Zak. Do you think that you can deal with that? I mean, since there is nothing going on between the two of you." I heard a lot of sarcasm. I sighed and looked at him.

"I think that we will be fine." I told him. He chuckled a little.

"you two would be good together. He seems to like you and you are a good height for him." He said. I rolled my eyes at that.

"What has he said?" I asked him. If he was going to gossip, he might as well tell the whole story.

"He likes you. He thinks that you are really broken too. Nick thinks that too. I just think that you have been through a lot of stuff. He also thinks that you are really pretty, or at least pretty for the camera. Which means, in Zak language, that you are beautiful. Which is the truth." He told me. I smiled at that. I hadn't really been called beautiful before. I thought that I might have been blushing too.

"That is really sweet of him." I told him. I tried to sound like I was unamused.

"What about you? What do you think of him?" He asked me. I sighed and tried to think of it first. All of my thoughts were jumbled.

"I think that he is nice. I am not sure what I think about him. I haven't really watched him that much. I have been a little preoccupied at the moment." I told him. Aaron seemed to understand.

"So what do they look like?" He asked me. I figured that he was talking about the attatchments.

"They are interesting. There are some that are humanoids and some that aren't. I have one that looks like a little chubby dragon with an attittude. You mainly have quiet humaniods. Nick has shapes. Zak has the most and they are a mixture." I explained to him.

"Am I really chubby? Oh, I need to lay off of something. I don't know what, but I will find it." Leonard said in the back. I couldn't help but smile at that.

"That is really cool." Aaron said. I knew he had more, but he was going to save them for later. We then pulled up to the hotel that Zak had texted Aaron about. I saw that it was really fancy, like the last one. I sighed and got out of the car. Nick had parked next to me. Zak was then standing next to me.

"Do you want to share a room with me? I can get one with two beds." He told me. I sighed and looked at the other two. They were already walking in the hotel.

"I think that I can get my own." I told him. He sighed then got in front of me.

"You have no money. We are both adults. I think that the two of us can be responsible." He told me. I sighed and nodded my head.

"Fine, but I will repay you some how." I told him. He smiled at me. He had a really sweet smile. His eyes seemed to light up when he did.

"You are. You are helping me with the things that are interfering with my life." He told me. I rolled my eyes and the two of us went in the hotel. I stood with Aaron and Nick as Zak checked us in.

"Were you two making out or something?" Nick asked me. I looked at him with my mouth open.

"No, we weren't. I wouldn't take your boyfriend like that." I told him. Aaron was then laughing at the two of us. Nick was trying to hold back a smile, but I could see that he was trying really hard.

"Okay, you have to admit it, that was a good one." Aaron said as he slapped Nick's back.

"It was. I will give her that one." He said. I smiled at him.

"I think that you will fit in just fine." Aaron said. He was right. I felt like I did. It was a weird feeling for me, but it was still nice. Zak came over to me and he handed me a key.

"Alright, let's go get the stuff." He said. We walked out of the hotel and grabbed our bags. Then there was a man in a mohawk that walked up to us. I was really concerned, but he and Aaron hugged.

"That is Billy." Nick told me. He seemed to notice that I was a little nervous.

"Thanks." I told him. He smiled at me and walked to Billy. He was shorter than the rest. He looked like a punk rock teddy bear. I smiled at that thought. I heard Leonard say something. He was still complaining about his weight.

"So this is Lea?" He said as he walked to me. I nodded my head and he gave me a hug.

"Welcome to the crew. I am guessing that you are going to be hunting with them?" He asked me with a smile. I think that they were all talking about that. They must have bets or something.

"If this is the time to make the decision, stick with Billy. Zak isn't the best person for you to hang with when it comes to the hunting." Leonard informed me. I was already set on not doing that.

"Actually, I was thinking that I could watch the moniters with you. I could also do the research and anything else that is needed." I told them. I saw that Nick and Zak were surprised. they obviously lost the bet.

"That is good. I could use some help." Billy told me with a smile. We then all walked in the hotel. Zak and I went to our room while the others got settled in their own rooms. Our room was quiet large. There were two bed and a small table. I saw that the bathroom matched the bedroom. It was large and had plenty of space.

"So you and Zak aren't getting close, huh?" Leonard said as I walked back out.
