Chapter Twenty-One
05:20, 23 October 2014Sakura's long pink untied hair blew in the light breeze from the open window. The anxiety from suddenly returning to the village kept her from any sort of rest. The last nurse for the night checked in, leaving her alone in the empty room that had four beds. Ino had visited her as soon as she heard of her return, but didn't stay for long.
Afterwards her parents came and there were tears shed, her father trying his best to hide them. Of course she had told all of them of the news, but the only one who didn't know was Sasuke himself. The moonlight seeped inside her room giving off a warm glow. The regular footsteps could be heard quietly roaming the hallways, but she didn't except for them to stop at her door.
Sasuke stood in the room with bound hands, and Naruto trailing behind him. Her green eyes went wide with astonishment as Sasuke marched to sit beside her on the bed she'd been laying in all day. They locked gazes letting the world melt around the two, only both of them remaining. Naruto ducked out of the room to stand by the door. He stared at her shoulder that was covered by a hospital gown, with the bandages faintly showing. Gently he ran his fingers across her wound.
"How are you feeling?"
"Fine." Sakura looked down to their hands that were still entwined with his free one. Sasuke smiled as he gently ran his fingers through her hair. Guilt began to fill her from head to toe as she figured out Naruto hadn't told him, but she already knew he wouldn't in the first place.
"What is it Sakura?"
"He didn't tell you did he." Sasuke gave her a questioning eye, but quickly lost it as she stared back at him with tears in her eyes.
"What is it, what's wrong?" He moved closer to Sakura, keeping her hands clasped in his. Sakura sighed deeply, already decided to just tell him straightforward.
"Sasuke," She took his hands and placed it on her abdomen. "I'm carrying your child. When I was sick, it was because of morning sickness. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before I just didn't want you to get angry at me, and you probably wouldn't have come back to the village with-" Sasuke put his head against his shoulder which instantly caused her to go silent. He could feel her heavy tear drops falling into his shirt.
"Sakura, it's okay."
"You mean, you're okay with it?" He then cupped her face in his hands, wiping away any more tears that were falling.
"Of course."
"So you're going to stay with me, and grow up with our baby?" Sakura's eyes began to light up. Sakura smirked doing his best to hide the slight hopelessness in his onyx eyes.
"Of course." She smiled as they embraced before Naruto came in to take Sasuke back to the imprisonment her was in.
The meeting room was dark and stuffy when Sasuke first walked in. The atmosphere was obvious anger and hate, but he ignored it. The members of the council sat around the long wood table waiting for them to speak.
"Sasuke Uchiha. You and your team have been charged with class A ranks. You should not even be alive right now, and only because the hokage is so headstrong on this issue, we decided to let you have some freedoms. Like seeing that girl last night in the hospital. You're lucky to know someone like him, but anything like your case has to go through mutual decision, you have to go through us." Spoke one of the youngest looking members.
"We have already made our decision." Said another one. The last one to speak was the oldest of them all.
"We are giving you a choice. Either you stay and everyone, even Sakura Haruno will be punished for the remainder you stay here. Or you can leave with those outsiders, and never return to the village, or the land of fire. It's your choice Uchiha."
"What does the hokage think." Sasuke questioned them trying to think of ways to get around this.
"He doesn't know of course."
"She didn't do anything, so leave her alone."
"She assisted on helping you escape, we won't let her slide so easily."
"You must know of her current condition."
"Of course we do." Snapped the younger looking one.
"Just because there is a child soon to be involved, doesn't mean we will change anything."
"Don't let her suffer for something I started!" Sasuke barked back.
"There is nothing you can do." The older one calmly replied.
"There must be something to change the matter of fact!"
"There is no longer anything that can be done."
"Then do something, because once Naruto hears about this-"
"Just because you personally know the hokage doesn't mean things will be easy for you, it's already been decided now it's just up to you." Snapped the young one again. Sasuke leaned back in his chair letting out a big sigh.
"So, what is your decision Uchiha." He stood up from the chair heading to the door with his hands still tied together.
"I'll go."
"Release his binds. You are now a free man, but you must leave this village by sunrise tomorrow, and never return here. Do you understand?" Spoke the oldest one with such calamity that it angered Sasuke to the bone.
"I understand." The guard took the binds from his wrist, and opened the door to show Naruto who had been pacing the hallway waiting for the verdict.
"What happened in there?" Naruto asked as he walked with Sasuke down the dark narrow hall. "It must be good right, you're not tied up anymore!"
"You could say that."
"Tell me, if there's anything wrong I can fix it."
"Naruto, it's going to be fine from now on." Naruto stopped talking and gave his friend a smile as they walked out of the secret building for meetings like those. As Sasuke began to think about the girl who still sat in her hospital all by herself, the more he wanted to slaughter the assholes in the room behind.
"Let's go see Sakura, shall we Sasuke?"
"Hn."
