Chapter Nineteen
05:00, 23 October 2014As the week rolled by since Sakura had her first wave of morning sickness, it seemed to only worsen. Mebuki hardly ever spoke with Sakura about the nine months she was pregnant with her, but when she did she would complain about the nausea she would during the time. Her father would laugh as he remembered how anger she would be at him, and order him around like a personal slave. She began to sorely miss her parents, and all her friends back at the hidden leaf.
Their original plan was to leave once the month was up, but Sakura had been too ill to travel. Sasuke knew there couldn't be anything done on the island, he also knew she would get the best care in a hospital setting.
Karin had done the best she could with the medical training she had, but couldn't even get a good guess at a diagnosis, and as many times as he begged Sakura to tell him what could be wrong she would always refuse to answer, saying it would be, good as a third opinion.
With no idea left in mind, he sent the three off the island to find out information about the situation in the leaf leaving him alone with Sakura until they returned. With her fever finally down, the only thing that remained was the nausea. He cursed the motionless wind for the others not returning as fast as he'd hoped.
"Why won't you give yourself an evaluation, Sakura?"
"I'd rather have someone else with more experience than me, and evaluating yourself is not the best thing to do don't you know Sasuke?" She expressed through a forced smile, trying to feed him more false hope. The secret she kept was slowing killing her as Sasuke furrowed his eyebrows in confused guilt.
"They'll be back soon, and we can get you to a hospital."
"In Konoha?" A faint light gleamed to the thought of returning home with him at her side and Naruto as the Hokage.
"I'm not sure it will be all that easy." He sighed lightly as he leaned back in the chair that he placed by their bed, where Sakura spent most of her time.
"If Naruto is Hokage he will definitely let you back into the village without any trouble!"
"It's not just Naruto, but the entire village I would be up against."
"What if you told them the truth on why you left the village, then everyone will agree to letting you back I know it!"
"Sakura, you know it won't be that easy." Sasuke stated as he tilted his head. She already knew that having a rogue ninja return would be life in imprisonment or death, and the hokage would have no say in what to do with them.
"But there has to be something that can be done." She set her chin in the small area between her thumb and first finger.
The struggling could be easily read on her pale face. Sasuke responded by setting her arm down gently at her side, holding her hand as he stared into the green eyes he'd so easily fall into.
"Don't worry about things like that now." Her cheeks turned as pink as the hair that fell by them, as Sasuke leaned in to kiss her soft lips. A grin carved across his face to see the slight flush of life return. "You don't look as pale as you did before now." Her face was now turned beet red.
"S-shut up!" Before she could protest anymore to his sudden action, Sasuke was now on the bed, with Sakura pinned underneath him. She quivered as his dark eyes stared back at her with no emotion to be seen. With her face turning redder by the second, Sasuke began to laugh, something that he hardly ever did. She gave him a questioning look.
"You look like a strawberry!" He laughed to himself as he still lay above her. As Sakura thought many other things to what the Uchiha reminded her of, he leaned down pressing himself against, kissing her deeply to rid of what she was about to say. Their heavy sighs and the movement of sheets were all that could be heard inside the mansion. Finally they parted to take in the fresh air around them.
"Are you sure we should do this right now? They could come back, at anytime." Sakura breathed out quickly, looking up to the man above her.
"That's why we should do it right now, don't you think?" Sakura smiled as Sasuke sneaked under the blankets, taking her into his delicate care.
Sakura woke up to light nausea, but nothing she couldn't handle. She faced the door of the big room, and could feel Sasuke's possessive grip around her bare waist. Turning as quietly and motionlessly as she possible could to face the still sleeping man.
His face was as calm as the ocean surrounding the island, his light sighs of breath gently hit her face. Slowly she set her hand against his smooth, muscular bare chest. The movement of his breathing lift her hand up and down continuously. The colors of the setting sun brightened the room around them, giving it the most romantic glow.
In the distance Sakura could hear the chatter of familiar voices. Getting up, she slowly made her way with a blanket wrapped around her bare body, to the window that was opened only a crack. The beach could be seen faintly from where she, which was covered by a soft white transparent fabric. The colorful heads bobbed as they made their way to the small area they made home. Quickly closing the curtain, warm hands wrapped themselves around her waist.
"We should get dressed, and be ready for whatever news they bring." Sasuke whispered into the nape of her neck. Sakura nodded, her long pink hair tickling his bare body.
Turning around she wrapped the blanket around the both of them, standing on her toes to place her mouth against his. Forcibly he pins her against the wall beside the window, not letting her lips move from his. As the voices got closer their sighs became heavier. Sakura pushed him away, but only enough for her to breathe.
"They should be at the front door." Sasuke nodded as he broke away from Sakura to move to the bed with a swift movement to slip on the pants and shirt he had on before they slept together.
Just as he left the room, the knocks at the door began. She sighed as she had desired the man as much as he did for her. Sakura walked to the bed side to also slip on the clothes that she dropped to the ground. The four voices could be heard, and sounded serious. Following Sasuke's invisible steps to where Suigetsu, Juugo and Karin stood together talking to Sasuke about their short mission.
"Sakura-chan, are you sure you should be out of bed!" Karin exclaimed once Sakura stepped into the room.
"I'm okay now. I also don't want to be left out of the conversation." Stepping forward she took her place beside Sasuke.
"Well you came just in time, we didn't really say much about anything except that there is less shinobi scouting the towns." Karin added in, to ease Sakura from any overexcitement.
"Go on, what has happened since then?" Sasuke gestured to move on with the subject. Juugo was the one to speak first.
"Well there are less patrols then before, seems they moved their own ninja back to the village. It's also official, there is a new hokage in the hidden leaf." Sakura didn't let him continue as she jumped forward with happiness shouting,
"It's Naruto isn't it! It has to be he's the only one!" Everyone was taken aback, even Sasuke to her sudden burst of energy. Juugo could see a hint of jealousy on his face, and smiled to how this girl he'd known since his younger days still made him weak to the knees.
"If you have given me the time, I would have told you but yes. Naruto Uzumaki is the sixth hokage of the hidden leaf village."
"Hn, seems like the idiot did it. What else is there?" Sasuke muttered to the thought of the dobe wearing the leaf's kage hate. Sakura stood back, restraining any other giddy feelings rise up to the fact her friend accomplished his dream too.
"Well, they're still looking for us and especially you, Sakura-chan." Juugo said as he continued on with the report. "We also quietly infiltrated the leaf, and it seems very peaceful. But there are rumors of the peculiar decisions the sixth has made. Like how hard he is fighting against the council to let us all free if we ever return."
"You three too, but why? You aren't ninja of the hidden leaf." Sasuke asked.
"We asked our informant too, and it seems he doesn't want the innocent to be punished." Suigetsu concluded.
"Does that mean we can return?" Sakura asked them hopefully.
"Yes, I don't believe any harm would come to us." Karin reassured her.
"Then we'll go tomorrow, just as the sun is about to rise. Sakura, do you think you will be ready for the journey?" Sasuke asked her as he turned to face the trembling girl beside him.
"Yeah, I'll be fine."
"Are you sure? You're shaking." Turning she bared a sweet smile.
"I'm just so happy we'll be going home." Sasuke smirked as he looked to the overly excited girl.
"Then I guess we'll get packing."
Sasuke nodded as the other three headed to their own temporary houses. The loving couple also packed their personal belongings, and spent one more night together before the sun rised the next day.
