Chapter 4 - I'll take care of you»»——⍟——««

You clenched your fist as you stared at your feet. You need to calm down or else they'll kick you out and you won't be able to adopt a kid. But fuck, you could still go to a different orphanage so who cares anyway.

You sighed as Henry proceeded to open the doors. The other couples looking excited as hell. You gasped a bit when you looked around the room.

It was beautiful without a doubt. There were a lot of kids ranging from 3-15 years old. They look like they are being taken care of properly. Nice clothes and not a bruise littered their small bodies. The room has pillows littered around and a lot of toys as well. Books, stuff toys, a small playground. Damn, it is a fancy orphanage for the rich.

You smiled a bit when you saw the kids playing and laughing among themselves. Well, at least the kids look like they're happy and having fun.

The three couples quickly scattered around the room hunting for a child they would be adopting. You stood there for a while, Henry beside you.

"This place is beautiful isn't it? The kids love it here that's why they always want to return."

Your eyes widen at what he said. So that's how they earn money. They let couples adopt the children then after a few weeks, the kids would want to return back here. What the fuck.

Before you can even say something in return he already started walking towards a couch near the door. You bit your lip in anger before proceeding to scout the place.

You smiled at some kids when the ball that they were playing with hit your leg. You bent down and grab the ball, before softly throwing it back at them. They grinned at you before walking over.

"Ne, are you here to adopt as well nee-san??" A boy no older than 7 smiled at you.

"Hmm.... Yeah I am." You crouched down at their level.

Three boys. One with black hair, brown hair, and the other is blue. They look like they're all the same age. The kids looked at you in awe. You giggled at their faces before ruffling their hair.

"Wow nee-san aren't you too young???" The blue hair gaped at you.

"I can handle it. I'm strong." You winked at them as they giggled at your reply.

You were surprised when the boy with black hair suddenly hold into your hand then drag you to the playground.

"Come play with us!!" He grinned at you.

You nod at them before proceeding to throw the ball. The four of you continued playing for a while when suddenly the ball traveled quite far. The three boys giggled as you playfully sighed at them. These kids are so energetic.

You turned towards where the ball landed. It was quite far away from the playground. Almost to the corner of the room. You proceeded to walk towards the area when a black cloth caught your attention.

A small part of the playground was covered with a black curtain. Probably some storage area for toys.

You were about to leave it at that once you reached the ball. But then you heard some sniffling on the other side. What? Is some kid hiding there or something??

You clutched onto the ball with one hand and the other is holding onto the cloth.

You probably won't find anything but curiosity is getting to you.

You walked over the other side of the curtain and looked around. It was quite dark. Only a small light bulb was serving as a light source for you.

You walked closer to the bulb when you hear the sniffling coming from there. If this is a horror movie you'll be dead as soon as it fucking started.

You sighed at the thought. It's probably some kid who got lost while playing hide and seek.

As you took another step towards the light, shock overcame you. What the fuck? WHAT THE FUCK?

By the light, a small jail-like container stood. AND INSIDE IS A FUCKING KID.

You gaped at the kid as you saw him wiping his eyes with his small fists. He was crying... What the hell.

You don't know what's going on right now. You were so confused and angry. You can't believe that someone is keeping prisoned here - A FUCKING KID NONETHELESS!!

He looked no older than 3. You clenched your fist as you just silently watch him cry.This is wrong. This is so fucking wrong.

Every inch in your body wants to go to that Henry guy and rip him apart but you know you can't do that. A lot of the kids here look happy. Even if the people running this place are shitty and manipulative, it's still better than them being abandoned in some street.

You know that fact but it doesn't mean that you like it. It shooks your fucking morality to the bone AND THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING.

You're a fighter. A dangerous one at that. But you have more morality than the pathetic humans here.

You bit your lip as you slowly took a step towards the kid. He didn't notice you until you were crouched down and staring right at him.

He stared at you with those fearful eyes that you just can't help but punch the jail. He whimpered and proceeded to stuff himself in the corner far away from you.

You know that what you're doing is not helping but fuck it's just so frustrating. It took you a few seconds to calm yourself before you stood up and look around.

There must be a key placed here somewhere. You glanced around before you spotted a small plastic key in a table placed just on the corner.

You frowned at that. Why the fuck is the key made of plastic?

You just shook the thought before swiftly grabbing the key and placing it on the keyhole.

The kid just stared at you with those same fearful eyes that you can't even stare at him before wanting to go rampage. Those eyes are so familiar that it fucking hurts you.

Once you opened the door you finally had the courage to glance at him.

The kid has red hair, amber eyes, and pale skin. But you didn't care that much about his appearance because you were to busy staring at all the bruises and cuts littered on his body. Fuck, they didn't even give him proper clothes, he's just wearing a damn long-sleeved button-up shirt.

You clenched your fist before stretching your hands towards him. You didn't miss the flinch he made when you raised your arm and you definitely didn't miss the way he shivered uncontrollably.

You sighed before carefully placing your hand on top of his head. You slowly ruffled his hair, tensing when you felt a certain wet spot on it.

You quickly stared at your hands. Your eyes widened when you saw some blood on it. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

You glanced back at the kid to see him staring at your hand that just ruffled his hair. He bit his lip before tears continued to stream down his face. Your eyes softened at that before slowly getting him out of the cage and holding him on your hands.

He was tensed and on guard. Waiting for you to attack him any second. Damn this place.

You placed him on your left arm as you raised your right hand to wipe the tears on his face.

The kid looked up at you with that innocent eyes of his. You softly smiled at him. He just continued to stare at you before placing his head on your chest. The kid looks so weak and tired. You sighed before slowly sitting down, you're back resting on the wall.

"Don't worry kid. I'll take care of you."

YEYYY YOU FINALLY MET KID!!!

Now is the start of your fun but hard life as you proceeded to take care of Kid. You will encounter a lot of challenges and problems but it won't be Kid if you don't.
