Chapter 3

Sophia's POV ~Dylan and i were playing 20 questions. I was nonchalantly trying to watch Ryan out of the corner of my eye hoping he wouldn't see me. It was Dylan's turn to ask me questions."Whens your birthday?""October 10th 1995.""Whats your favorite color?""I have two, purple and teal.""Have you ever had a boyfriend?""Yeah...""Are you okay?" "What?""I asked if you were okay. You seem worried and keep looking over there." Dylan pointed in Ryan's direction."Umm... Yeah im fine just someone i dont really want to see here..." I said looking over at Ryan."Want to leave?" Dylan asked."Yeah i think that would be a good idea." I said, just as we got up Ryan made eye contact with me and him and his group of friends came walking towards us. "Come on lets go." I said grabbing Dylan's hand."Where do you think you're going?" Vinnie, Ryan's best friend said to me in a harsh tone. "Who's this? Your little boyfriend? You picked the new kid smart move Soph." Ryan said to me."Leave him alone Ryan. Dont drag him into this he has nothing to do with it." I said."What? He cant defend himself?" Ryan said looking at Dylan. "He has nothing to defend himself for. Hes not my boyfriend hes just my friend. Even if he was my boyfriend he would be a hell of a lot better then you!" I yelled at him. Ryan grabbed my arm and pulled me close to him."Im glad im not with you anymore. Your a dumb bitch who always just caused problems for me." Ryan yelled in my face."Let me go. Now!" I growled at him. Thats one thing no one ever know about our relationship. He was very physical to me... He let me go. Dylan just stood there looking confused and worried. I didnt know what to do so i just ran. I ran out the food court and out front of the mall. As i was running i heard Dylan calling after me telling me to wait up. I didnt stop. Once i got outside i stopped running and started just walking. I hadnt felt that scared in a long time. "SOPH WAIT UP." I heard Dylan yell for behind me. I stopped and turned around."Dylan... Im sorry you had to be a part of that. Thats why i wanted to leav-" Dylan cut me off."Relax Soph its okay." He said as he placed his hands on each of my shoulders. "Come on lets get you home." We walked back to Dylan's car in silence. The ride was also silent. We got back to my house and Dylan got out of the car and opened the door for me. I thanked him and we walked up to my front door. I unlocked it and walked inside. We walked in the living room where Tara and her friend Emily where watching tv. "Hey Ta... Could you guys go up to your room?" I asked quietly through my tears."Sure Soph are you okay?" Tara asked."Um... No not really but we'll talk later okay." I said."Okay, i love you." She hugged me and then they went upstairs. I switched the tv to the music channel and curled in a ball in the corner of the couch. Dylan sat with me on the couch."Do you want to talk about what happened?" Dylan asked."Yeah i guess you need an explanation." I said."Not if your not comfortable with telling me." Dylan said. For the first time i felt like i could trust a guy, so i did."Okay... So the guy Ryan, the one who grabbed me. He's my ex. We broke up about 3 1/2 months ago. It wasnt a good break up. I broke up with him but my life has been a living hell since. I know im better off without him so I ignore all the assholes and try and keep my head high." I said. Dylan scooted closer to me and wrapped one arm around me. Typically i would have moved but it felt different with Dylan. "Um... So you could tell by his varsity jacket that hes on the baseball team. Hes a phenomenal player and was given a scholarship as a junior last year, but that besides point. He cheated on me with this girl because... Because i wasnt ready to have sex yet. I should have broken up with him when i found out he cheated but i gave him a second chance. He was trying to force me to have sex with him but i just wasnt ready yet. We got into a big fight and i realized i was tired of being treated like crap so i dumped him. He told me i would regret it but i didnt believe him. But he was right.... Through any social media and anyway you could tell someone something he told everyone in the school i was a bitch and a virgin who didnt realize what i lost when i dumped him. When you dump the captain of your schools baseball team because your still a virgin and arent ready yet.... Kinda ruins your social life. I lost all my friends expect Gracie. She is the only true friend i have now." I said."Well you have me." Dylan said looking me in the eyes. I didnt know what to say, so i decided to trust him with something important."Im gonna tell you something since you saw it today. Something no one knows. Not Gracie, Tara or my parents. Ryan was very physical to me.... He would hit me all the time." I chocked on my words."Soph you shouldnt let him treat you like that. I saw the way you stood up to him. Your a better person then him. But why did you never tell anyone?" Dylan asked."I was to scared of what he would do to me if i said something. But ut doesnt matter now that was the first time i've talked to him since the breakup and hopefully was the last." I said. We talked and just got to know each other better. I feel like i've known Dylan forever not just half a day. We put a movie on and just chilled at my place. Around 5 Emily and Tara came down stairs. Tara came in the living room and got her dance bag. "Oh crap i forgot i had to take you to dance today!" I said jumping up from the couch."Its fine Soph i could tell something was wrong. You and Dylan chill here Emily's mom is bringing us together and moms gonna bring us home later." Tara said. I got up anyway and hugged her."Love ya kid." I said to her."I know, love you too." She said and then they left. I went back over and sat next to Dylan. "When do you have to leave?" I asked Dylan."Um whenever. My parents wont be home till around 8. Do you need me to leave?" Dylan asked."No, you dont have to leave if you dont want to... My dad will be here around 8 too and my mom probably 8:30." I said. I cuddled up against Dylan and put my head on his chest, he wrapped his arms round me. I wound up falling asleep in his arms, i just felt connected with Dyl. Its weird for me to feel like this about a guy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I woke up to bright lights shinning through the window. I looked at my phone and saw it was 10 to eight and i realized it was my dad coming home. I woke Dylan up since we both feel asleep."Wake up Dyl my dads home." I shook him and he woke up rubbing his eyes. He looked so cute with bed head. I ran my fingers through his hair to fix it so it didnt look like we had been doing anything. We sat up and then my dad walked in the door. "Anyone home?" My dad asked when he walked in."Just me dad and i have a friend over were in the living room." I said and Dylan smiled."What?" I asked him."Nothing." Dylan said.My dad walked in and came over and hugged me."And who might this be?" My dad asked."Im Dylan, Dylan O'Brien. I moved here around 3 weeks ago." Dylan said shaking my dads hand."Pleasure to met ya son. Are you staying for dinner?""Are you?" I asked excitedly and then covered my mouth. What was happening to me? "Umm..." Dylan didnt know what to say."I'll go call your mom and ask her what we're doing then you let me know." My dad said."Do you want to stay for dinner?" I asked."I dont want to be a burden. Are you sure it would be okay if i stayed?" Dylan asked."Of corse its fine, i mean only if you want to stay." I said looking at him pretty much begging with my eyes."Okay i'll stay. Just let me call my mom." "Yay! Come on we can go up to my room where its quiet." I said. "Dad Dyl's staying for dinner." I said as we walked upstairs.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~We finished dinner around 9. I had a really good day hanging with Dylan. We just clicked. Dylan said bye to my family and i walked him outside. I closed the front door and we just stood on the porch."I had a great time thanks Soph." Dylan said."No problem, i havent been this happy in a while." I said looking down at the ground while shuffling my feet. Dylan lifted my head and looked at me."Im glad, see you in school tomorrow?" He kinda asked instead of saying."Yeah..." I said.We looked into each others eyes and it was like the world stopped. I dont really understand why i feel this way. I never felt like this before especially withe Ryan. What am i talking about its not like we're dating. Im ere in my thoughts and realized we had been standing in silence. "Night Dyl." I said."Night Soph thanks again." Dylan said as he went to leave. "Wait." I said and grabbed his arm."What?" He asked. I only meant to give him a quick peck on the lips just because i had nothing to lose but when my lips touched his i didnt want to pull away. Dylan seemed shocked at first but after he realized what was going on he kissed back, this made me smile. He placed his hands on my cheeks and i wrapped my arms around his neck. After a couple seconds we both pulled back catching our breath. I laid my head on his shoulder/chest area and hugged him tight. "I dont know what it is O'Brien but theres something special about you." I said."Oh really and what would that be?" He asked."Im not sure... But lets finish this conversation tomorrow because im tired." I said."Okay night Soph." "Night Dyl." We unhooked ourselves from each other and he got in his car and drove away. When i kissed Dylan it was like magic, i never felt like that with Ryan. I think i might actually be in love for the first time. But i still want to keep my guard up, i mean i've known the kid half a day. But he sure is something special.__________________________Ooo!!!
