Let me in
13:34, 2 February 2024-Seungmin? Jeongin stormed inside the hospital room.
-You're late, Changbin hit him friendly on the back of his head.
-What happened? he ignored his client and stepped towards the bed. In his eyes you could read pure worry.
-I'm okay, don't worry! Seungmin tried to brush it off with a smile.
-No... I will fucking worry, alright? I was so scared... his voice broke at the end. I have the right to cry and be worried for the person I love, he hugged Seungmin lighty, scared to hurt the older.
Felix opened his mouth in awe and made eye contact with Changbin who was as surprised as him.
-We should leave them alone, Felix pushed everyone outside the room and closed the door behind him.
His phone started buzzing and he rolled his eyes in annoyance.
-What's wrong, Lix? Minho asked.
-The principal keeps nagging us to look for a history teacher. Where am I supposed to find one?
-I am one, Jisung blurted out.
-You are? Minho frowned.
-Remember my CV? Jisung smiled sheepishly.
-Oh, right... The 101 jobs of Han Jisung...
-I could take the job. But... that would mean I have to give up on my job at the shelter, Jisung looked at Minho, asking for approval.
Felix knew what the man was trying to do. He obviously knew history since he lived it. He was also hoping to annoy some students and parents and win some years. That was brilliant. Besides, he would be right next to Felix's class. They could have found a solution during the breaks.
-Go ahead! Minho shrugged. You'll do an amazing teacher. You'll be with my brother and Seungmin. I'll find another assistant.
-Really? You're not mad? Jisung asked with puppy eyes.
-I'm sad, but it'll pass. I'll come to your apartment, you'll come at mine. It will be alright, he kissed Jisung's forehead.
-Thank you, Minho...
-Let's get some water, the latter threw his hand around Jisung's shoulders and walked down the hall.
Felix coed at the sight of those two, then turned towards Changbin who was looking around, trying to make the time fly by.
-You! he pointed towards the older.
-What did I do? Changbin raised his hands in shock.
-Come here! Felix demanded.
Changbin approached the boy and waited for himself to be scolded.
-Thank you for taking care of Minnie, Felix leaned on and pressed a short kiss on Changbin's cheek.
The latter's eyes widened as his face got instantly red.
-That's what friends do, he tried to play it cool. I like Min, he is a cool guy and I wanted to help him. But... I did it for you too. I know it sounds selfish and stuff, but it's the truth.
-I know, Felix replied. I see everything that you do for me, but I can't help but wonder why. You can have anyone on this planet. You're an idol. Why me?
-I Don't want anyone. I'm not trying to prove myself by the number of people I date. I want one person. ONE. And that person to be the one I share my happy and sad moments with. I want that person to be you. At first I thought you're cute. Then you rejected me and my pride got hurt. Then we started bickering which was something I was looking forward every day. Then you started sharing your scary thoughts with me, your weak and sad moments, your happy ones... And I felt so lucky to be the one you chose to trust. That's why... I'll wait. I'll be happy to be by your side as long as you want me to, Felix.
Felix froze in his place. He didn't know what to do, how to react. It seemed impossible that those words were meant for him. It couldn't been. He was never the first choice. He was never the one people had crushes on. He was Cupid for others. He was never the one falling in love. A bitter sweet loneliness hidden behind a bubbly personality. He couldn't even dreamt of someone saying those words to him.
-I... Changbin forced a smile, bowed and walked past Felix when the younger grabbed his hand all of a sudden.
-I don't know what to say... This is all new for me. But please... Don't go yet, he sniffed.
-How could I leave you? Changbin hugged the freckled boy.
-Are you sure you're alright? Can I bring you something? I'll go get the nurse. Anything... Jeongin took a deep breath.
-I'm fine, Jeongin. I mean it.
-You always say that. I know it must be difficult to ask for help or speak your mind, but... It pains me that I can't be there for you, he confessed while sitting on the edge of the bed.
-I've never had someone to share the sad thoughts with before. I was taught to look okay. My parents hated when I was crying. They told me I was weak. I'm sorry for not trusting you enough, Jeongin. I was a bit dissapointed when you said you were hiding me from your folks. Then you confessed your love and I was taken aback. This is my longest relationship ever and... I don't really know what's the next step. I also don't want to rush and say I love before I'm sure, Seungmin explained calmly, guilt creeping under his skin.
Oh, how he wanted to know what love feels like. To know how to search through his mind without running away from his close ones.
-I understand if you want to break up with me, Seungmin added with a lump in his troath.
-I don't, Jeongin replied casually. Why would I? I love you. I'm not going to stop loving you because it's not mutual. As you said... we're taking it slow. We'll see how it goes. All I know now is that I don't want to worry about the future and just enjoy this moment of relief. You are safe and that's the most important thing for me right now, he took Seungmin's hands in his own. Please tell me when this kind of thoughts are haunting you again. I cannot take away the pain, but I can share it. You won't be alone. I'll cry with you and hug you and keep you safe in your vulnerable moments. You just have to let me in.
Seungmin felt a warm tear streaming down his cheek. He nodded and smiled, looking up in his attempt to stop the tears flowing. Jeongin wrapped his arms around the older and let him bury his head in his chest.
