My talent

22:49, 17 August 2022

If Minho had never met Jisung, he wouldn't have fallen at first sight.

-Just go and talk to him! He won't bite.

-I don't know about it...

-He can't be that bad.

Jisung was sitting in the cafeteria, reading a book alone when he heard some people whispering behind his back.

He sighed in annoyance and fixed his glasses on the bridge of his nose.

A guy took a seat next to him, but before getting to say something, Jisung talked sternly:

-Get lost!

-But I didn't...

-Not interested, Jisung cut him off.

The boy left with his morale down and his group of friends comforting him and cursing Jisung loud enough for him to hear.

A smile crept upon Jisung's face.

You could say he was quite proud of himself.

He turned back to his book, but one second his gaze slipped to the glass and spotted a guy fixing his hair in the reflection.

Jisung made a disgusted expression when the boy locked eyes with him.

"You're ugly. Why bother?" he said, but the boy couldn't hear him.

Jisung took a piece of paper and wrote the world UGLY on it, then glued it to the window.

The boy started laughing after reading the note. Jisung was so confused.

Wasn't it supposed to be rude? Why is he laughing?

The boy entered the cafeteria and sat down next to Jisung.

-You are funny. But for real... I look that bad?

-Yes. But it doesn't matter anyway. With that body, you're gonna get laid anyway.

-Oh, I wasn't going on a date. I just like to dress nice.

-Good for you.

-I am Minho, by the way.

-I didn't ask.

-You know...I am older than you probably. At least show some respect.

-I didn't ask, hyung. Better?

-Yes. Now tell me your name.

-Why?

-So I could yell at you whenever I see you passing by.

-Then I'll make sure you will never see me again, Jisung said packing his stuff.

Minho's eyes caught a glance at the first page of the book Jisung was reading. He saw his name written there and smiled in victory.

-Jisung.

-What? Jisung raised his gaze before realizing. How did you?

-So this is your name. Cute.

-Don't bother to remember it. We won't see each other ever again.

Jisung left the cafeteria while Minho remained behind chuckling.

Such a challenge this Han Jisung. Minho liked that.

However, Jisung didn't like that at all. He hated it. Hated every single time people were approaching him.

-Maybe if I scar myself on the face, people will leave me alone, he mumbled walking home.

He locked the front door and threw himself on the bed.

He rolled up his sleeves and revealed a number on his skin like a tattoo.

But the number changed from 89 to 88 under Jisung's panicked eyes.

-Shit...

He took a deep breath and hid the number.

-It's ok, Jisung, he started. It will pass. Like it always did. Just avoid the guy and move to another state. Maybe it will work.

Next day, Jisung was at the same table, in the same cafeteria, sipping from the exact same drink and reading the exact same book when he heard some hands slamming on his table.

-Hello to you too! he said not even bothering to look up.

-You're that Jisung guy, right?

-You have the wrong guy, he replied calmly.

-Really?

-No. But it was fun to mess with you.

The guy hit the table again, making Jisung's cup of coffee spill.

-You're really annoying. Why can't you be nice?

-Says the guy who just spilled my coffee.

-Minho was nice and you rejected him.

-So he sent his backup to scare me?

-I am just his friend. Look, kid! he said taking a seat. My name is Bang Chan. I am Minho's friend. He is the most loveable guy you'll ever meet. Like for real. Nothing makes him mad. He is always smiling and laughing. And I have to take care of him. You hurt his feelings, so I'm asking why did you do it. What did he do to you?

-He interrupted me. As well as you. Please leave!

-You deserve to be alone. With that attitude of yours you'll never find someone to love you, Chan said before leaving.

The corners of Jisung's mouth curled into a smile.

He checked again his hand and saw the number returning to 89.

-Good job, Jisung! Not bad for an old man, huh? he laughed at his own joke. Hyung, he scoffed. They should be calling me grandpa.

The next destination was the cemetery.

Jisung was spending a lot of time there.

He liked the silence. Besides, his parents were there to listen to what new book Jisung read lately.

It was like family lecture time.

But first of all, he had to clean the graves. Get rid of withered flowers and replace them. Broom around and put new candles.

He used to do that every week.-Can I help? Jisung recognized the voice and cursed himself in his mind.

-Are you following me?

-No. I just saw you while cleaning my grandma and parents' graves. Right there! Minho pointed to three huge gravestones, bathed in flowers.

Jisung's frown slowly disappeared as a trace of pity showed on his face.

-Who are they? Minho crouched down to search for any name on the stones.

-My parents.

Minho looked up with a shocked face.

-I'm so sorry for your loss!

-It's alright. It has been a long ago. The pain slowly faded. You know what they say...time heals anything.

Minho was listening to Jisung, not taking his eyes off.

He was mesmerized, trying to memorize every detail of his profile.

He didn't know why, but this Jisung guy was intriguing him.

He was savage, with a dark humor and it seemed very lonely.

A challenge indeed.

But he was so beautiful. Long eyelashes and puffy cheeks. Big eyes and fluffy hair. And such a tiny waist.

-So....Do you have a girlfriend...or boyfriend? Minho coughed immediately in awkwardness.

Jisung rolled his eyes before turning to face Minho.

-No. Never.

-Never? Never never? Minho was so surprised to hear it.

Yes, he looked antisocial, but you would have guessed he had at least a partner.

-Is there a problem with this? Jisung raised an eyebrow waiting to find a flaw in Minho's sweet nature.

He couldn't be that perfect. It had to be something.-No! I think it's cute, Minho smiled at him.

-Cute? So you think I am a prude.

-What? No! I didn't say that.

-Because nowadays is normalized to engage in sexual activities from a young age and is such a shame to be 20 and single.

Jisung was eagerly waiting for Minho to snap. He wanted to push his buttons and no one could do it better than him. He had a talent for annoying people.

-I am a virgin too! Minho blurted out, his cheeks getting a dark shade of pink.

Jisung pouted, annoyed by Minho's personality.

-I didn't need to know that. This is a waste of time. Let's just pretend we have never met. What do you say?

-But I wanna get to know you. I wanna be friends with you, Jisung, Minho reached for Jisung's hand.

The latter retracted it and threw a disgusted face at him.

-Don't touch me! I don't wanna be friends. I don't wanna have anything to do with you. Get that in your big head, alright? Not interested, he emphasized the last word.

Minho was at a loss for words. Even on the verge of crying. Jisung was so harsh to him.

-Why are you so mean?

-It's my talent. Now get out of my sight!

Trying to break down the wall between us just breaks my heart(Sorry, I love you by Stray Kids)
