Chapter 99
13:55, 25 April 2020After leaving the hospital, Tinsley made a quick stop at the grocery store to get food for dinner. Upon entering the grocery store, she noticed the bakery was baking fresh bread. The smell had her salivating. He stomach leading the way, she went to the bakery to find out what kind of bread they were making.
The girl behind the counter pointed to a sign hanging over the counter that told about the days specials between smacks of her gum when Tinsley inquired about the bread. The employee didn't look to be more than 20 and she had the piss poor attitude to match. Tinsley even caught her rolling her eyes at being asked a question.
"Not today little girl. Today is not the god damned day" thought Tinsley.
Deciding that she needed something indulgent for dinner and to get away from the girl before she smacked her gum right out of her mouth, she grabbed a bag of the fresh baked pretzel buns and headed for the meat counter to get some fresh ground chuck. After selecting the pack of meat she wanted, she went to the dairy case and grabbed chedder, Swiss, and pepper jack cheese.
As she was walking towards produce, a cart came flying out from one of the isle and hit Tinsley's.
"Oh I'm sorry. Didn't see you there" said the guy pushing the cart.
He wasn't a very attractive man but she did notice a bit of an accent even though the guy tried to hide it. He was of average height and build, but there was just something about him that made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.
"No worries" said Tinsley.
"No, I could have injured you" said the guy.
"It's all good." Said Tinsley.
"My names Ian" said the guy.
"Tinsley." She said.
"Such a beautiful name" said Ian.
"Thanks" said Tinsley.
"It's nice to meet you" said Ian.
"Yea. I really should get going though. My husband is out in the car waiting for me" said Tinsley.
"Should have know a beautiful girl like you would have a husband" said Ian.
Tinsley didn't know how to respond to that so she just looked at him and smiles gently, hoping she didn't look crazy.
"Anyways, I better get going." Said Tinsley.
"See you around?" Asked Ian.
"Probably. This is a small town after all" said Tinsley.
"Looking forward to it" said Ian before walking away towards the dairy section of the store.
Tinsley couldn't help but notice innuendo that Ian has put into that sentence. There was something about the way he said it that made her think that he had a double meaning to that sentence. But then again, she knew it was very well possible the stress of the last few days was making her paranoid and making her weary of everyone she came into contact with that wasn't SAMCRO. All she knew for certain was that the whole interaction was weird and left her just a tab unsettled.
Shaking off the interaction, she walked towards produce and got thr feeling she was being watched. She peaked over her should towards the way that Ian had walked and caught him staring at her. Yep, definitely watching her.
Tinsley went to produce and grabbed the remaining things she needed for burgers and onion rings. In her opinion, there wasn't anything better than a big fat juicy burger and crispy fried onion rings to make a person feel better. Plus, it's didn't hurt that it wouldn't take forever to cook.
After paying for her items and getting in the car, she drove the suburban towards home. As she drove along, she had the radio tuned to a country station that she had began to like since moving here. Just got started loving you by James Otto came on the radio and she began to sing as sway as she drove. To her shock, when the song got to thr chorus, Jax started to sing.
🎶What can I say I've never felt this way🎶🎶Girl you're like a dream come true🎶🎶After all the love we've made🎶🎶It sure would be a shame🎶🎶If we let this moment end so soon🎶🎶So won't you lay back down beside me🎶🎶Girl just like I know you're wantin' to🎶🎶Trust me when I tell you darlin'🎶🎶Girl I just got started lovin' you🎶
It warmed Tinsley heart to hear Jax singing. He had a beautiful voice and it always shocked her to hear him sing. But the fact that he was singing country music shocked her the most. Jax didn't try to his how much he hated the music. He claimed that all country songs were about dying dogs and cheating wives.
Just as the song was ending, Tinsley pulled the hulking Suburban in to the driveway of their home.
"Home sweet home" said Tinsley.
"I'm glad to be here" said Jax.
"Let me get these groceries in the house and I will come back and help you get your crutches." Said Tinsley.
"Like I have a choice" said Jax.
"Don't act like you ain't gonna like me waiting on you hand and food. Especially those sponge baths" said Tinsley.
"Now those I will definitely enjoy" said Jax.
Tinsley shook her head and climbed down from the SUV. She went to the back gate and gathered up the paper bag containing the groceries and headed to the house to place it on the counter in the kitchen.
When she walked back outside, she saw Jax trying to pull his crutches from the back seat. He had one about half way up to the front when it got hung up and he couldn't move it any further.
"God dammit" yelled Jax.
Shaking her head, Tinsley went to the back doors of the SUV and pulled the crutches out and gave them to Jax. She helped him swing his legs around to climb down out of the vehicle. After he was out, Jax started toward the house, Tinsley following behind him. He almost lost his balance a few times but luckily, he was able to get his balance without using the door he had just had surgery on.
Jax and Tinsley were met in the living room by Neeta, Fay, and the kids. The trio all smiled big toothless grins when they caught sight or their parents and Abel immediately went to yelling "da-da" and "ma-ma" repeatedly.
"Hey buddy" said Jax in the voice that parent usually reserved for small children. He sat down sideways on the couch and propped his leg on a throw pillow that was on the opposite end.
After making sure Jax was settled, Tinsley walked over to each of the 3 of the pack and play that were set up and tickled each of the babies.
Abel was sitting on the floor near the fire place. Little plastic fire trucks and plastic motorcycles were scattered all over the living room just proving that Abel was having a blast playing with his toys and that he had been keeping Neeta and Fay on their toes. Abel has gotten extremely good at crawling and was beginning to pull up on the furniture. Tinsley knew it would only be a matter of time before he was walking. The thought of Abel walking made her realize just how fast the past year had flew by. Some days, she had a hard time grasping the fact that Abel was about to be one. Which reminded her, she needed to finish planning is party.
Marking party planning to her mental list of things to do, Tinsley walked over and picked Abel up and kissed his little blonde head. His hair was starting to curl on the ends just like all babies hair usually did. She thought it was the most adorable thing on the face of the earth. Jax on the other hand thought he already needed a hit cut because he was starting to look like a girl. Tinsley found that extremely funny considering Jax has shoulder length hair.
"Hey baby. Did you miss momma and daddy?" Tinsley asked Abel in the same voice Jax had used in him.
Abel smiled the biggest smile and just talked his usual baby talk that Tinsley took to mean that he did miss them.
After hugging Abel and loving on him for a few, she handed him off to Jax, being extra careful of his ankle. Abel wrapped his tiny little arms around Jax's neck and gave him the biggest hug. It was safe to say, Abel had definitely missed Jax.
"Is there anything I do to help you guys. Need me to cook?" Asked Neeta.
"We can watch the kids while you cook if you would rather" said Fay.
"That is incredibly sweet of both you ladies. I'm sure Abel here has gave you a run for your money and I can only imagine how tired you are. I can't possibly ask you to do any more today" said Tinsley.
"You're not asking. We are. Don't worry about us and how tired you might think we may be. If you need help, just point us to what needs to be done" said Neeta.
"I'll cook dinner if you will help Jax with the kids. When do the babies need to eat again?" Asked Tinsley.
"They are about an hour ago so you guys have a little while. And you will be happy to know, they all love apple sauce" said Fay.
"That's good. We have been slowly introducing them to baby food. None are fans of green beans" said Tinsley laughing.
"I can't say I blame them. Green beans are supposed to have some seasoning to them and what they are calling green beans in a car is a port excuse for food. I don't think I could eat it if I was starving" said Fay.
"I tried it. Your right, it's disgusting" said Jax.
After the four of them discussed baby food and things they used for their kids when introducing solid foods, Tinsley went to the kitchen and began patting out the ground chuck for burgers and cutting the onions for onion rings. Figuring Neeta and Fay would eat dinner with them as a form of thanks for watching the kids, Tinsley placed 5 pretzel buns on a baking sheet to warm up and began making up the batter for her onion rings.
When she was just about done with the onion rings, she began cooking the burgers. She cooked them until they reached a medium inside temp making sure the burgers stayed juicy and didn't dry out. Until moving to Charming, she had never had a burger cooked any way other than well done. After trying one cooked to medium, she didn't want them any other way. As the burgers cooked, she had just enough time to mix up her very own version of Outback's bloom sauce. It would be delicious with the onion rings.
When the burgers had reached the temperature she wanted them to be, she placed a slice of each of the three cheese on the burgers.
Once the cheese was all gooey and melty, she placed each on the toasted pretzel buns and added lettuce, tomato, onions, mushrooms and pickels to each and set them on plates for each of them, making sure Jax had two.
When she had everything done and all the plates in the table, she went into the living room and told everyone it was time to eat. The babies had all fallen asleep and Abel was still playing with Jax.
Taking Abel from Jax, she again helped Jax swing his legs around and gave him his crutches.
"Neeta and Fay, I hope your planning on staying. I'm not taking no for an answer. I already have plates fixed for you both." Said Tinsley.
"That's sweet of you sweetheart but you didn't have to do that" said Neeta.
"Take it as a thanks for all you have done that past few days" said Tinsley.
"Honey, your paying us enough. That's all the thanks we need" said Fay.
"Oh hush. What kind of hostess would I be if we sat down to dinner and didn't invite you guys. Y'all had been smelling the food cooking for thr better part of an hour. Come on, to the dining room you go" said Tinsley as she guided Neeta and Fay to thr table, all thr while making sure Jax was ok.
They all sat down and devoured their food and just simply enjoyed each other's company.
