Act 1: Keeping A Promise

06:59, 1 August 2024

Jake slammed the door to his house which was on the edge of a dark swamp hidden from all eyes. "Someone's upset," said someone who was lying on the sofa while watching the ceiling, "Shut up Sunoo!" Jake said heading straight into his room and slamming the door close.

Sunoo chuckled while still looking at the ceiling. "What's this time, huh?" Sunoo asked glancing at Jake's bedroom door which Jake immediately slammed open, "An annoying man who felt he had to ruin my night!" Jake said sitting at Sunoo's feet in annoyance, "Hey!" Sunoo immediately sat up before his leg was broken by Jake's butt. Sunoo sighed, "You're still trying to chase the little prince? Give up, you're wasting too much time..." Sunoo said hitting Jake on the back, the older groaned in annoyance, "What kind of little brother are you?" Jake asked sitting up straight again.

"No, I can't just let Jungwon go, he has something that I don't have," Jake said leaning forward and staring at the fireplace in front of them, Sunoo looked at his brother, "Love, his love power is so big and if I can have that power, I can make this world mine," explained Jake, his eyes reflecting the flames in front of him. Sunoo rolled his eyes, "Well, do whatever you want," said Sunoo leaning back on the sofa and staring at the ceiling with a lazy look.

Back to the lake.

Jungwon and Heeseung were walking around the lake, while the other swans were minding their own business.

"So that person was a sorcerer who turned you and these people into swans?" Heeseung asked after hearing Jungwon's story. The younger nodded as he looked at Heeseung, "What's the purpose?" Heeseung asked as he stopped at one point on the edge of the lake, "Power, he wants the great power that my kingdom has," answered Jungwon. Heeseung tilted his head, "Power?" asked the prince curiously, "I can't give you the details, but he wants to control that power for his own benefit," explained Jungwon, "But for now, he can't take that power and can only turn us into something he can control," said Jungwon holding his necklace.

"Mr. Ni-ki," someone called to Ni-ki, the royal man turned around, "Are you sure you let that person be with Prince Jungwon?" The person asked worriedly, Ni-ki thought for a moment, "Don't worry, I'm sure that person will have an influence in our destiny, after all, not just anyone can find this place randomly," explained Ni-ki with a smile.

"By the way, I don't know your name yet," said Heeseung turning towards Jungwon, "You can call me Jungwon," said Jungwon introducing himself. "Nice to meet you, Prince Jungwon," said Heeseung holding Jungwon's hand and then kissed it, making the swan prince blush, he turned his face away, avoiding eye contact with Heeseung, "Nice to meet you too, Prince Heeseung," Jungwon replied looking into Heeseung's eyes, they both giggled.

Jungwon then looked behind Heeseung and saw sunlight starting to appear. "You better go back, Jake's magic will only disappear at night," explained Jungwon. Heeseung immediately looked back and saw the sun starting to show his face, "Can I see you again?" Heeseung asked, not letting go of Jungwon's hand. Jungwon widened his eyes at Heeseung's question, "I didn't advise you to come back here—", "I beg you... I want to meet you again... you... are the first person who caught my eyes in my entire life..." Heeseung begged a little force. Jungwon blushed, he sighed, "Fine, you can meet me again after sunset," Jungwon said as he smiled at Heeseung. Heeseung's smile widened, "Thank you," Heeseung said happily.

Heeseung was about to leave, "Oh, before I go," said Heeseung turning to look at Jungwon then kissed him on the lips, making the swan prince's eyes widen. "That's a sign of my promise to always come back to you," Heeseung said before walking back to his horse, leaving Jungwon blushing silently.

"Well, that was something," Ni-ki said approaching Jungwon who was still frozen with a red face. "Hyung?" Called Ni-ki waving his hand in Jungwon's face, "H–ha?" Jungwon finally woke up from his reverie and looked at Ni-ki, still with a red face. The younger scoff saw Jungwon blush, "Hyung, are you okay?" Ni-ki asked holding back his laughter, Jungwon blinked confusedly, "What do you mean?" Jungwon asked, "Your face is so red," replied Ni-ki, still holding back laughter. Jungwon was shocked, he immediately covered his face with his hands, "W–We'd better get ready to change back," said Jungwon and immediately walked away, leaving Ni-ki who couldn't hold back his laughter any longer.

Heeseung re-explored the path he took before meeting the lake while remembering the path to meet Jungwon again later that night.

"Hyung!" Jay called when he saw Heeseung, the latter turned his head, "Where are you from? We've been looking for you all night, you know?!" Jay asked, spurring his horse towards his brother in panic, followed by Sunghoon and the others, "I almost called for help, you know?!" Jay asked again, he was a little annoyed, "Wow, you're exaggerating," said Heeseung joked, but his joke didn't succeed in comforting his younger brother. Heeseung cleared his throat awkwardly, "Sorry, it seems like I was separated from you without realizing it, I also had time to look for you, but I decided to return to the place where I was separated," Heeseung explained lying, of course he had to keep the whereabouts of Jungwon and his people a secret. "The important thing is that we have found him," said Sunghoon approaching the two princes, Jay sighed.

"Your Majesty, we have to return to the palace now before the king gets worried," said one of the guards. Immediately the two prince brothers stared, "Papa!" They exclaimed, worried and panicked. Wasting no time, the five people immediately galloped on their horses back to the palace.

They immediately stopped their horses when they arrived at the palace gates and saw Jeongin already in front of the gate with folded arms and an angry expression. Heeseung and Jay swallowed hard, "Papa..." Heeseung said in a trembling voice. Jeongin looked at his two sons, "Get off the horse, now," Jeongin ordered in a cold tone. Heeseung and Jay looked at each other then obeyed their papa.

The two princes walked towards their father with their heads bowed.

Jeongin immediately flicked his two sons' foreheads, "You were gone all night without telling me where you go! I was worried, you know?! What if you don't come back? What if the night is too dark to see the animal you were hunting? What if you don't come back?!" Jeongin scolded in a high voice, making Sunghoon and the two guards who were with the two princes leave with their horses.

"I'm sorry, papa, I didn't say that we would be going out at night to hunt," said Jay looking at his papa, "And we took a long time because I was separated from the group, so they had to look for me first," explained Heeseung. Jeongin sighed, "I expected more from you, Heeseung," said Jeongin looking at Heeseung as he folded his arms, "But because it was your birthday yesterday, I forgive you, just treat it as part of your birthday celebration," explained Jeongin. Hearing that, the smiles of the two princes widened, "But in change, you have to help the stable keeper bathe the horses you use for hunting," continued Jeongin, Heeseung and Jay's expressions fell instantly, "But papa...", "No buts, do it now before I change my mind," Jeongin ordered. Jay scowled, Heeseung patted his little brother's shoulder before walking together towards the stables.
