The Lies Between Us

28- Too Early

You know how the saying goes 'Life's what happens when you're busy making plans' it's the same vibe as 'you're so happy you don't notice the deadline.'

When Tait entered Thomas Avreux-Kingston Group, he felt like entering a new world. The employees inside were not all aware that The Tait Kingston was indeed related to their boss – in fact he's the son. So seeing him walking in a three piece suit with the board members came as a shock to them.

He has to admit it was kind of fun coming in here with people expecting nothing less of his star persona. He's innate competitive spirit was slowly awaken by the challenge. As he made his way to the elevators, he genuinely smiled to the people who met his eyes.

"This is your office." The overly polite staff who looked like he was in his mid-forties gestured him to go inside.

He smirked liking the big windows and his desk. The room was big with enough space for guests and there was even a mini library by the far end corner.

Tait wandered around smiling timidly at the woman standing beside his desk.

"This is Tanya, she will be your secretary."

He barely heard what he said when, out his huge windows, he found his girlfriend's billboard somewhere down the streets. He bit his lip appreciating Lisie's Celine ad campaign.

"It's a pleasure to be working with you, sir." The woman said in a soft almost seductive tone.

Tait raised a brow thinking. "It's nice to meet you as well." He paused looking at the senior staff who introduced himself as Grant.

He was thinking of requesting for a male secretary instead but he'd give her the benefit of the doubt. Anyway, since this is an office setting, maybe employees here stay professional unlike some people in Star Avenue where directors or producers don't hesitate to date their actors even in the middle of filming.

He almost rolled his eyes thinking it was weird comparing that world to this reality. Showbiz almost have no rules when it comes to dating unlike in the corporate world. Not that he prefers relationships to be lawless but relationships with boundaries are healthier.

"Tanya will be the one to fix your schedule for the rest of your stay," said Grant. The tall brunette smiled like she has the best job there is.

"I can also make you coffee sir, if Starbucks ran out of beans out of a sudden." She giggled.

Tait didn't laugh along but he managed a small grin. "Do I have a schedule for tomorrow at 4?"

His question made Tanya bolt to her desk. She shuffled some papers in the table before coming back.

"You're scheduled to meet your team at 3pm so 4pm should be clear." She announced proudly.

"Great! I'm planning to show my office to my girlfriend." Tait shared his plan. He knew when he entered inside, Lisie would be excited to visit. Of course it's an opportunity for him to show off both his girlfriend to the company and his office to his girlfriend.

He pushed his back off his desk clapping his hands like it was a perfect plan. "Clear my schedule from 4 to 6. I don't want anyone disturbing us while we're here."

"O-okay, sir." Tanya followed not sounding happy anymore.

"That'd be all, thanks." He smirked turning his back on the staff. "Oh and Tanya."

"Yes?" The girl beamed with hope when her boss called.

"Please move your table outside. Don't be offended but, I'm used to having my staff in another room or out." He turned to Grant next. "Please help her move her things. I already talked to my dad about this. I guess he didn't relay the message yet.

"Oh, no problem, sir. I'd see to it that Tanya's table will be moved first thing tomorrow."

"Happy Birthday~"

It was 10am of a beautiful Sunday morning and Tait was kissing his girlfriend everywhere on her face. "This is the best birthday present ever." His first week in his dad's company was a bit exhausting but it's nothing he couldn't handle. Although it was an adjustment period and his dad wasn't requiring him to report everyday, he was the one initiating to because he's starting to like the business.

But just a few days without seeing his girl was already torture, he couldn't imagine being away from her for too long, especially since in the last months they were almost inseparable. He thought he was going to miss her on the weekend since she told him she has a schedule on his birthday but she surprised him last night in his penthouse and before they knew it, both of them were naked on his bed exploring each other.

His hands got a little naughty under the sheets because her giggles and little screams were turning him on.

"Stop! I don't think I can walk anymore." She groaned pushing his face away from her chest.

He let her off smiling lazily. "What's your perfume?"

"Huh?"

Tait nuzzled on her ears tickling her. "I like your scent."

He watched her bite her lips as if she's acting coy because of his question.

"I have like one scent for each season. But there's one perfume I always wear regardless of the weather."

Tait grins at his girlfriend looking so cute talking about perfumes. "So, what's the brand?"

She gave him a sneer challenging him. "Not telling."

"Tch. Okay fine. I'll get the answer myself."

Lisie squealed when Tait put himself on top of her. He loves it when she tries to tease him and then turns like a kitten when he gets too hot.

"SURPRISE! Happy Birth-"

"Happy- Holy Ho-ho-ho"

"Why is there a girl's shoe-"

The three people by the door got more than what they asked for when they planned a surprise for their favorite celebrity. And in a second, Jane overreacted like a wife catching her husband cheating.

"TAIT KINGSTON WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU FUCKIN-" Before Jane could even attack the anonymous girl who was now under the covers, Tait stood up, never minding if his almost naked body was displayed for everyone to see.

Nash and Jimmy both had a disgusted look seeing the scene while Jane wasn't shocked because she's more eager to have a cat fight with the mysterious woman.

"Get the fuck out!" Tait yelled while pulling Jane from the bed. It was a bit of a struggle for him because he didn't think Jane was strong enough to resist his hold.

"DUDE PUT ON PANTS OR SOMETHING!" Nash exclaimed helping Tait to get Jane off.

"WHO THE HELL IS THIS BITCH! DO YOU KNOW WHAT I'D LOOK LIKE IN FRONT OF LISIE IF SHE-"

Jane stopped talking when the girl finally revealed herself. "Hi."

The two boys were also speechless.

Tait rolled his eyes, his tiny boxerbriefs finally covered with the pants on the floor. "I mean seriously, who else do you think I'd bone after everything that's happened?" He scoffed.

"Lisie?" Jane made a face, shifting her eyes from her brother to Lisie then vice versa. Jimmy was now beside Jane in case she switched on scary wife mode again. She wasn't only like this to Tait. She was like this to Jimmy when he showed up with a different girl other than Rian at one of Jane's fashion show back when things were messy between the couple.

"Um...this is really awkward." Lisie muttered.

"Can you guys please go, just..." Tait begged.

Jane started shaking her head, tears are now sliding down her face. "No, this is unacceptable."

Tait huffed getting impatient. He put his hands on both sides of his waist unintentionally making Lisie stare at how sexy he looks. "What now, Jane?"

"Marriage! Yes, that's it. You have to marry her now. Don't you know sex is supposed to be sacred?" Jane cried.

Nash palmed his face getting the secondhand embarrassment. He knew it was just an act because Jane was obsessed with this couple and that she likes manipulating people.

"Jane, it's too early for marriage." Lisie defended clutching the covers tightly.

"But you could already be pregnant. What if the child gets born and the parents aren't married yet? You'll only have yourselves to blame. So do it now or forever regret this day!"

Tait had had it and forcefully pushed his sister and his friends out of his room.

"Haha told you I'd catch you one day!" Jim playfully stuck out his tongue before Tait slammed the door to his face.

When Tait turned back to Lisie, he scrunched his face. "She has a point though."

He laughed when Lisie threw him the huge pillow.

Days go by more hectic than ever in Tait's life. It's as if even if he's not working he is. Because of the additional work he has to do in his free time, it's starting to feel like it's all happening too fast.

After doing an interview with the media about his plans after Princetown, he went straight to the company's headquarters in Star Avenue to hear about the latest reports and proposals from prospect clients and shareholders from the board. He doesn't let his fans know he's taking a huge break after the big franchise because that's something he doesn't want to face yet.

As someone who spent his entire life under the spotlight, he owed it to the fans for always having his back. And now he's sort of retiring, it's hard for him to say goodbye to the people who loved him the most.

It was a very busy day and what made it more crazy was the news about a certain Vernon Choi visiting Lisie in her catwalk in Italy. He logged in to twitter to see the latest trends and found Vernon's name at the second place.

His brows raised when he saw the picture of the guy watching the fashion show in the front row. When he saw a picture of him with Lisie at the back stage, he smirked deviously.

His laughter boomed in his office when he saw how Lisie put a space between the guy like he's got a disease or something alike. Lisie obviously felt awkward in the shot.

Tait knew he had to do something about his jealousy whenever situations like this arise. He shouldn't always feel like a mad possessive boyfriend. He has to let Lisie do her thing without controlling her.

Then an idea popped into his head.

He was doing something in his social media when Tanya's voice reached the intercom.

"Sir, there's a woman here saying she has an important message for you."

"Yeah?" He continued with his instagram story. "Who?"

"It's Ms. Yana Lane."

"Lol." Tait didn't quite hear what she said. He was more entertained of the comments under his instagram update.

You're such a kid, Jim commented on his story which was an image of the two of them in their teens at the red carpet. Their arms were around each other's shoulders but it was an awkward pose. So much similar to the trending photo of Lisie and Vernon.

A huge grin appeared across Tait's face when he saw his girl typing.

Damn. It's such a bummer not being able to go to Italy and see her grace the cat walk. Nevertheless, he felt proud of her. She's already way too busy with acting stuff and she's also doing modeling gigs at the same time.

"Miss, you can't do that. Miss-"

His door blasted open revealing the intruder. It was a shock for Tait to see his ex again. After the last time they talked, he figured he wouldn't see Yana anytime soon so it felt weird seeing her again especially in his office.

"I'm sorry, sir. She just barged in." Tanya explained but Tait dismissed her.

"It's alright. I'll talk to Ms. Lane. You can go back to your work." He said nodding at his secretary. Judging by the look of Tanya's face, Tait couldn't blame her if she felt scared just dealing with his ex.

Yana has always been a lot to deal with. It's like when your with her, she'll introduce you to do small but bad habits without feeling a tinge of conscience. It'll start with that and later on when your doing the worst she'll leave you without remorse.

She's the real ice queen. Cold, heartless, and a self proclaimed narcissist. Most guys feel overwhelmed just by her presence, but what's shown over the surface is all an act. Girls like her who's really just insecure and blunt under all that glitter always needs constant attention and validation.

He turned his phone off placing it on his pockets before facing Yana.

"Your secretary's pretty, huh." She started. Her eyes wander around his office like she's in a shopping mall. "Do you like that face or you prefer your boring girlfriend's?

Tait sighed heavily ignoring her question. "What brings you here, Yana?"

The graceful actress smirked making herself comfortable in one of his couches. "Mm... I miss you calling my name." She moaned, purring like a cat while caressing the arms of the sofa. She was boldly seducing Tait from the looks of her actions but Tait had already seen so much.

"If you don't have anything important to say to me, then you should leave." He said with finality.

"I underestimated you, Tait. I thought when you got back, I still have your heart. But look at you," Yana scoffed eyeing him from head to toe. "My, my, I thought you'd never looked more handsome."

The intercom beeped and Tanya's voice could be heard announcing Tait's appointment the next day.

"Are you sure she's only your secretary?" She continued teasing. "I mean when we were dating, women just attached themselves to you like sprouts in summer."

Tait glared at her thinking what her real motive is for coming in his office unannounced. "But I know you're the loyal committed type so you couldn't possibly cheat."

"And Lisie Moore really looks innocent. She's gorgeous alright, I'd give that to her. But don't get too obsessed with that girlfriend of yours eh. Because you never know, she might turn out just like me."

"Yana, just-"

"Does she fuck better than me?" Yana laughed evilly. And when Tait didn't respond, Yana continued. "Oh wait, I heard she's the biggest prude in the modeling world, her manager doesn't let her date! I bet she can't even make you hard. Oh Tait, with your kind of appetite I don't think-"

"Tanya, please escort Ms..." Tait dialed his intercom but Yana was quick to stop him.

"Don't. I'm sorry. I'm just..."Yana sighed, her real colors finally showing under pressure.

"If you come here just to insult Lisie, then don't fuck around and waste my time. If you want something from me, tell me." Tait growled. "NOW!"

"I'm pregnant." Yana whimpered like a lost puppy.

Now Tait was the one who was smirking. "Finally." He mocked remembering how Yana always made sure he wouldn't get her pregnant when they were dating. She's always so conscious of her body. He could even recall how she detested having kids. "Congrats. Who's the baby daddy?"

"That's not important."

"Why isn't he important? He knocked you up. Don't tell me you're not having it." Tait raised a brow.

"I couldn't get an abortion because I could die..." Her eyes were now misty with unshed tears. "I...thought, I thought you could help me." Yana's eyes widened when Tait shook his head. "I don't have many friends and I... I need a place to stay to keep things on the low."

Tait clenched his jaw when he finally noticed the significant change around Yana's stomach. 

How could she bother him like this? Doesn't she know what would happen if things go out of hand and he helped her? "You asked the wrong person. Leave."

"Tait, please! I don't know what to do." She cried. "I told my manager and the agency was asking me to resign...I feel so lost."

When she broke down in front of him, he couldn't help but feel a bit of sympathy to her. He took a deep breath and sighed. Even though what happened between them left a burnt scar in his heart, he still has a little bit of respect left for her.

"If I help you, would you promise not to meddle in between me and my life?"

With his answer, Yana's face lightened up. "You have my word. I'd stay as quiet as possible."

Tait still wasn't convinced. He couldn't bring himself to trust her fully. He would need someone to look over her so Lisie wouldn't get worried or anything. Perhaps, he could do an investigation for his peace of mind.

"Fine. But if you screw this and you mess with my girl, I swear to god, I would not have any second thoughts but make your life more miserable than it already is."

"You got it?"

Yana smiled at him like she thought he could never do it. Tait was shocked when she jumped into his arms and then the door opened.

You guys heard about the Jisoo dating rumors? If you hadn't. Good. Save yourselves some time because those rumors are shit. Because I think out of all the 4 members of bp, Jisoo is the member whos most likely to stay single (at least rn). I could be wrong but she's too damn smart and too independent to keep a man. (warning: semi rant ahead) Omg yes Im affected because I ship Jisoo with Namjoon. If there's a guy who wud suit to be her bf then its goddamn namjoon. He should be just as smart if not smarter than her. but hell if she wants to date football athletes then where does my opinion go? Nowhereland! LOL
