✯A Gentle Rewind✯
10:15, 25 October 2025Tokyo - One Week LaterThe city had begun to warm again after days of rain. The air was bright and clear, the streets busy - but in Kazama's heart, there was still a quiet ache he couldn't shake.
Today marked the opening ceremony of his new company outlet - an event he'd planned for months. The crowd was full of media, partners, and smiling faces, but he couldn't focus on any of them.
That was, until his eyes caught him.
Shinchan - standing near the entrance, holding a bouquet of white lilies and a wrapped gift. For a moment, Kazama thought he was hallucinating. But when Shinchan gave that small, awkward smile, his heart skipped the beat it had missed for years.
He walked up to him, barely hiding the warmth rising in his chest.
> "You came..." Kazama said softly."Of course," Shinchan replied, his voice calm but gentle. "It's your big day."
Kazama accepted the bouquet, their fingers brushing for a second too long. And for that brief touch, it felt like time had stopped - like the world had chosen to rewind, even if just a little.
---
The ceremony went on beautifully. Cameras flashed, speeches were given, applause echoed - but Kazama's eyes found Shinchan in the crowd again and again, like gravity itself wouldn't let him look away.
When it finally ended, he didn't waste a second.
> "Let's have dinner," Kazama said, catching Shinchan just as he was about to leave.
> "It's okay," Shinchan protested softly, "you must be tired-"
> "No excuses." Kazama smiled faintly, eyes determined. "You owe me this one."
Before Shinchan could refuse again, Kazama had already taken his wrist gently - not forcefully, but firmly enough to say he wasn't letting him go this time.
---
Later - Kazama's Mansion, 8:30 PM
Dinner was... unexpectedly peaceful. The food, the quiet music, the soft clinking of glasses - everything felt like an echo of their younger days, yet touched by the weight of everything they'd been through.
Kazama leaned back, watching Shinchan smile faintly at one of his jokes.
> "At least," Kazama said, breaking the silence, "we can still be friends, right? Like we used to."
Shinchan looked down at his plate, hesitating - then nodded slowly.
> "Yeah... friends."
It wasn't everything Kazama wanted. But for now, it was enough to breathe again.
---
Outside Shinchan's House - 10:47 PM
The drive back was filled with comfortable silence. The kind where both wanted to say something but didn't dare to.
When they finally reached, Shinchan turned to say goodbye - his voice soft, almost reluctant.
> "Thanks... for dinner."
Kazama smiled faintly.
> "Thanks... for showing up."
They both lingered there for a second - until suddenly, Kazama reached forward and caught Shinchan's wrist gently.
Before Shinchan could react, he was pulled into a hug.
A quiet, trembling, real hug.No words, no pride - just the warmth of two hearts that still knew each other's rhythm.
Shinchan froze for a second, eyes wide - then slowly melted into the embrace. The scent, the heartbeat, the comfort - it was all too familiar.
After a few long seconds, he stepped back, cheeks slightly flushed.Kazama smiled faintly, eyes glistening.
> "It was necessary," he whispered, voice low and rough.
Without another word, he stepped back into his car.
Shinchan stood there in the soft glow of the headlights, watching him leave - his chest full of emotions he couldn't name anymore. When he finally turned to go inside, his fingers brushed the spot where Kazama had held him, still warm.
And for the first time in weeks, he smiled - small, fragile, but real.
