Chapter 5 - Interview

03:03, 21 January 2019

"Hey." Slash swallowed and regained his composure, inviting Jen inside his home.

"Hey." As she stepped inside she immediately realized that he was a rock star. But what band was he from? And why couldn't she remember why she'd seen him before?

The guitarist led her upstairs, and Jen tried not to ogle at how expensive looking everything in his house was. How rich was this guy?

The interior was absolutely beautiful and unique. Guitar art and guitars were scattered all over the house.

Now she wanted to know the entire story. How come he needed someone to watch his kids?

"Oops!" She slipped on the last stair up to the kitchen because she'd been looking around and not watching where she was going.

Slash chuckled and grabbed her arm, keeping her stable, and maybe holding on a little longer than necessary.

"So, what do you do for a living?" Jen finally got brave enough to ask since her curiosity was killing her.

He sat down at the kitchen table and she followed.

"I was in a rock band when I was younger, Guns N' Roses. We got pretty successful, so that's  how I was able to get all of this." He gestured around with a smile playing on his lips.

"I've heard of them before!"

He laughed. "By the way, you can call me Slash, I just didn't want to put that in my ad because then people would recognize me."

Jen laughed. "Okay. What are your kids names?"

"London is the older one, he is three. Cash is the younger one, he's two. I'd like for you to meet them tonight, so you can start as soon as possible."

Jen nodded. "Sure. Slash, this is kind of a quick turn around, what's the rush?"

The guitarist sighed. "So, I'm recording an album with my new band, and the way recording works is you kind of get scheduled and called in whenever. And I need someone here as soon as possible so I'm free to go to all my sessions."

"Oh okay." Jen was curious now, she was definitely going to look up Slash's band when she got home tonight.

"What does your schedule look like? You are a college student so aren't you busy during the day?"

Jen shook her head. "I signed up for mostly evening classes, so I am free to work during the day."

Slash chuckled, he hadn't finished high school. She was probably an incredibly smart woman. "I'm so glad you're able to watch them then."

"Can I meet them now?" The brunette girl was excited to meet the kids, she hoped they were well-behaved.

"Of course, I'll take you upstairs, they are both in the playroom."

This time, Jen focused on the stairs and made sure she didn't trip. Although for some reason she wouldn't mind if Slash had to grab her arm and steady her again. Immediately she slapped herself for that thought. Oh my god, that's gross! She didn't know how old he was yet! At least thirty, she was way too young for him.

Slash's deep voice pulled her out of her trance. "Cash what have you done?"

"Glitter." The boy responded cheerfully, continuing to do his arts and crafts. The place was a mess!

Jen just laughed.

"Who's the pretty lady?" London looked up from his dinosaur game on the floor.

Slash smiled. "This is Jen, she's going to watch you while I'm out."

The more he thought about it, the more he realized that damn, Jen was pretty. If he hadn't known she was a college student, he would have guessed she was several years older than that.

She watched as Jen picked up a dinosaur and began to play with London.

"Fuck!" Cash burst out as he dropped his crayon.

Jen's eyes widened and she held back a laugh, looking at Slash for advice.

"Cash you are not supposed to say that word!" Slash reprimanded him, with a sigh.

He turned to Jen, "one of my old bandmates taught him that while they were babysitting, hence why I am trying to find someone more qualified."

She laughed.

The guitarist smiled as Jen went over to do some 'glittering' with Cash. He was glad that he finally knew his kids were in good hands.

"I'll make a list of all the foods the kids like, what toys they play with and what not and leave it on the counter for you."

"That would be helpful." Jen nodded.

"London also goes to daycare three times a week, I'll leave the address and the days and you can drive him there but that is about it."

Jen stood up from her spot on the floor, following Slash downstairs to the kitchen.

"I don't know how much people usually pay their babysitters..." Slash slid the payment paper over to her and she glanced at it.

Jen blinked in shock. There was no way in hell she was turning that offer down. "Slash, that's fine, but usually people pay me much less!"

"Well, I guess I'm not the usual sort of guy then."

Jen was speechless.

"I'm about to make some dinner, you're welcome to stay if you want!" The guitarist said.

As soon as he turned away, the brunette girl sat there in shock, before realizing she was probably supposed to answer. She shook her head and processed his question about dinner.

"You know, I'd actually love that! I haven't eaten anything home cooked since I have been away at school this semester."

Slash nodded. "Same thing with us when we would go on tour, we ate a lot of fast food."

He got chicken out of the fridge, and cooked some pasta with Alfredo sauce for him, and for Jen.

Then he made plain pasta for Cash and London, cutting up little pieces of chicken for them.

Jen sat at the table on her phone, everything smelled so good!

"Cash! London! Time for dinner!" Slash yelled and the two boys came slowly down the stairs for their food.
