it feels like summa

20:06, 24 August 2019

"Alright, close your pamphlets. Time is up. This concludes the Math portion of the test."

I let out a deep breath I didn't realize I was holding in. Figuratively, the weights of stress were slowly lifting from my shoulders but I could almost feel it drifting away literally.

Today was June 1st, and I had just finished taking my last exam. I could basically hear summer calling my name.

Ms.Hendrix came around to collect the tests and I was ecstatic to get the hell out of this school.

The thought of not having to come to school everyday felt almost like a dream. I had so many things planned already.

I missed Madison so much, so I was thinking about asking Kyle if she could come and visit me here in Chino for her 18th birthday.

"Okay everyone, I just wanted to let you know that your test results will be sent to your emails a week from now. And without further ado, have a great summer!" Ms.Hendrix was waved at us goodbye as we excited her classroom.

This was it! School was out, summer was in. I made my way down the hall with a pep in my step.

As I emptied out my locker, Lena and Audrey walked up to me.

"Hey girls! Aren't you so glad it's summer time? I'm so excited!" I squeal and they agreed.

So many things could happen in two months. I wasn't lying when I said that..

"Yes! Oh my god guys we have to hang out. There's so many things we need to do together." Lena went on. As we chatted about new and upcoming plans, Eli crept behind Lena and wrapped his arms around her waist. She turns around and greets him with a kiss.

I was surprised and so was Audrey. The audacity of their pda..

"Oh my, I thought y'all said yaw was trynna keep this on the low.. damn." I let out a laugh.

"Yeah, we figured that wasn't gonna work out. It's official, Eli and I are dating!" Lena admits. They were so cute together.

To be honest, it was about time they went public. As soon as I found out a month ago, whenever we would all hang out they would try to act cool and everything but the tension between them was nuts.

They weren't fooling anyone.

"That's great to hear! Congratulations, guys." A voice familiar said from behind me. I jump in surprise.

Strong arms make their way to my waist and I try to pry them away.

Turning around, Melo comes into view.

I should've known.

"Damn, how hard can it be to keep yo hands to yourself." Every time I hang out with Melo, let's just say he has a hard time not touching me.

"I'm sorry I can't help it. Yo body like the metal and I'm the magnet." He smirks. I hit him on his shoulder and he pretends to be hurt.

The rest of our friends laugh.

On a more serious note, "Hey how do you think you did on your exams?" I ask, Melo. For the past few weeks we had been putting in the work for him to get good grades on his tests. There would be times where we just wouldn't focus, but in the end, he always seemed to get everything I taught him.

I'd like to think I was a good tutor.

"I think I did good," He says genuinely, "Thanks to you, shawty."

"Well that's great. I can't wait to see your test results." I beam up at him.

"Date already." Lena coughs out and I just pretend I didn't hear her.

She's something else.

"Okay guys let's go get something to eat." Audrey says and we all agree.

"Yeah lets go, I'm bout starving." I didn't wanna waste any time. I was so hungry because I didn't want that nasty ass poison lunch food they try to feed us.

"Wait what we gone eat?" Eli asks.

"Chick-fil-a."

"Del Taco."

"Why this nigga always want Del taco." I point to Melo questioning our friends.

"You always trynna eat Chick-fil-a." Melo defends hisself.

"Yaw both always want Del Taco or Chick-fil-a. We're going to In-n-Out." Eli decided.

I smack my lips and let out a huff.

"Man, yaw some niggas." Melo let's out a frustrated sigh.

Lena got in the car with Eli and Audrey hopped in the backseat.

When I turned around Melo was walking towards his Lambo.

"Cmon shawty. I need some company in the whip." He looked at me to see what I was gone do.

I didn't even have time to think before my feet were carrying me to Melo's vehicle.

What was wrong with me?

Maybe it was a disease or sum._____

"Hello, my name is Jasmine and I'll be your waitress today. What can I get y'all to drink?" The girl continues to stare at Melo the whole time she speaks.

I was a little bothered.

"Can I get a water?" I ask. She ignores me and I try to give her the benefit of the doubt and guess that she didn't hear me.

"Excuse me? Can I get a water please?" I was loud and clear this time.

"Sure thing. What can I get for you?" After she writes down my water, she continues to gawk at Melo.

He didn't really pay her no attention though.

I liked that. It was weird knowing that other females would be around Melo like this all the time.

But he not my nigga.. it shouldn't matter to me.

"I'll take a water also." He replies shortly.

After this Jasmine hoe finishes taking all of our orders, we wait for her to come back with our drinks.

"Oh my gosh Audrey you're crazy." I declared after she finished telling us how she snuck out the house to give head to her boyfriend at the time.

"Deadass though. I got caught halfway through.." Eli cut her off.

"Okay you ain't gotta tell us all of the details." He had a disgusted look on his face.

Jasmine, our waiter, finally made her way back to our table.

She set our cups down in front of us and waited to give Melo his drink last.

"Here you go, Melo." She says seductively setting down his water, and biting her lip.

The way she threw herself at him, mad me want to puke. I was a little upset and I didn't know what to do with myself.

"Are you okay, shawty?" I guess Melo could tell I was a little bothered. He always seemed to know when there was something wrong with me.

"I'm fine! Leave me alone." I let the anger control me. He was a little taken aback.

"I'm sorry, it's just," shit how do I explain to him that I'm a little teeny tiny bit jealous.

"Nevermind." I decided on keeping my mouth shut.

I look down at my water and I could still feel Melo's eyes on me.

Slowly, he brung his face closer to mine and whispered in my ear.

"Are you jealous?"

I withdrew my head and looked at him like he was crazy.

"Oh my god no!" Crap, how he find out.

"Okay, yeah sure." Melo says to me. Of course he didn't believe me.

"Okay, let me get a picture of you guys!" Lena says excitedly and points at Melo and I.

Melo automatically puts his hand on my shoulder and I find myself scooting closer to him. I pose for the picture and Lena shows me the outcome.

Oh my.

We looked like a couple.

And I wasn't necessarily mad at it either.

"Send me that." I guess Melo thought the picture looked good too.

We finished taking pictures but Melo's hand didn't leave me. He only dropped it lower and lower so that it was now on my waist.

We were closer now and It felt like we practically glued to each other. Leg to leg, thigh to thigh..

Yaw already know the drill, my heart was already beating irregularly.

"Damn leave room for Jesus." I heard Eli and Lena laughs.

I roll my eyes and take a sip of water.

I had zoned out for the next few minutes.

"Maya, what you think?" Eli asks.

"Wait huh." I ask. What the hell was they talking about?

"You so out of it, shawty." Melo laughs and I look up at him.

All my other friends began to laugh at me.

I just pout.

"Leave me alone. I'm tired." I lied. I just couldn't focus because Melo and I were so close.

Our waitress finally came and boy she did not look happy. She saw how comfortable Melo and I looked and devastatedly, she sat our food down quickly and walked away.

Welp.

_____

It was now 6:45 and we were all laid up at the baller estate. Anthony, Melo, Eli, and I were chilling in the family room.

Lena had invited me to hang at  hers with Audrey and do face masks and stuff, but I declined because I really wanted to play 2k today.

It was Ant vs Eli on 2K and I had me bets on Ant.

Anthony was the type of guy who would be trash on 2k all the time and win when you least expect it.

"Get ready to take this L boy!" Eli yelled. Just was he was about to make a layup, Ant came out of no where and blocked it.

He had his player dribble down the court just to dunk on Eli's player.

"Ooh!" I yell.

Ant was 1 down with 10 seconds left. I honestly didn't think he would win but he did.

"Let's go! This nigga won!" I say to Ant, dapping him up. I could tell he was happy.

Melo came back from the kitchen and had a bunch of snacks in his hands.

"Who won?" He asked no one in particular.

"This guy!" Ant points to himself and Eli looks defeated.

"Oh that's my son!" Melo says hyping him up.

It was now my turn and I had to go up against Ant.

Let's see who was gone win.

__

"Wake up, M." I hear someone say. I sit up on the couch and K rub my eyes.

Oh, I was still at the Ball Estate.

Gelo came into view. The faint cartoons from the tv was the only source of light but I could make out my surroundings pretty ok.

Melo was at the end of the couch, Eli was laying on the floor and Ant was sleeping on the love seat.

Damn we was tired tired.

"Kyle's range broke down on his way back from practice."

My breathing started to pick up, "Wait huh?" I ask half sleep.

"Relax, Maya. He's fine their taking it to the shop now. He wanted me to let you know that he's okay before you started worrying." Gelo goes on.

I take deep breathes. He scared me for a second.

"You want me to take you home?" Gelo asks me. He could tell I was a little calmer now.

"I left my keys on the table, I can't get in the apartment." I explain while laying back down on the couch.

"Then I guess you're sleeping here tonight."
