Chapter 1

Ailee's pov:

I ran out of my house, running from my parents who have just hit me I think I'll have a couple bruises, it hurts. I kept running out of sight from my house until I ran into someone, that someone happened to be a darker skinned boy with puffy black hair and puppy eyes. "Oh, I'm sorry! I- I wasn't paying attention.."

"Oh uh i- I wasn't either it's my fault too..m- my names Johnny cade" he says in a low voice almost a whisper,

"M- mines Ailee rivers.." I reply,

"Whoa..I like that name, i- I've never heard it before" he says with a slight smirk with a shy look in his eyes,

"Oh..thank you, I ain't had nothing nice said about me.." I said skitishly

He looks down blushing.

"Y- you seem nice..you uh..you wanna meet m- my gang? I'm sure they'll love ya" he says looking up at me

"Well..sure why not" I said smiling shyly

"Follow me" he says with a quick side nod indicating we're going that way (forward). We stopped in front of a small house with a rusty white gate, he opens the gate, and opens the door without knocking.

He smiles at me, I return it, we walk in and it's all eyes on me and silence.

"Sup johnnycakes, who's the broad? Is she yknow available" a boy with perfect hair, Brown eyes, a leather jacket with a black shirt, n jeans says as he raises an eyebrow.

I backed up "i- I.." i stop talking scared,

"Man ease up seems like she's has a long day this is Ailee, she's pretty sweet" he says smiling slightly.

"H..hi" I say shyly and quiet.

"That's darry" he points to a huge guy that looks like he could kill someone with a single punch "that's his kid-brothers ponyboy n sodapop" he says pointing to a younger cute boy reading a book, and a older boy with movie star good looks. "That's dally" he says pointing to the boy that hit on me, "that's Keith Matthews, but he's known as two-bit cuz he puts his two-bit in everything" he says pointing to the older boy watching Mickey mouse, with a Mickey mouse shirt and a beer in his hand. " then we got Steve" he says pointing to a boy next to sodapop eating chocolate cake. "W- whoa there's a lotta y'all" i say shyly.

"Hey..where'd ya get that scar on your neck there?" sodapop asks curiously concerned

"I- well- m- my parents like to..uh hurt me.." I said barely over a whisper,

Everyone looked up at me as I put my head down.

"Well kid, your more then welcome to crash here a bit and the doors always open" darry said with a concerned tone and look in his eyes

"Oh..um..i- I don't wanna be a burden" I said in a slight mumble whispering

"C'mon you wouldn't be a burden Ailee your one of us" Johnny said looking over at me.

"Hey darry, imma crash here if ya don't mind..the folks are home and I don't wanna face em tonight" johnny said quietly

"Alright kid, Oh hey i gotta new room, we cleared the attic. Theres a bed n all, Ailee johnny if ya want y'all can have that room." darry said in a kind tone.

I looked over at johnny as if I'm asking if we can, he nods.

"Let's go kiddos I'll show ya the room" sodapop said in a hyper tone.

I smile, feeling like someone cares for me..I know I just met them but they already seem like family.

Everyone's gone to sleep, me n Johnny are laying on our backs.

"Ugh I can't sleep" I said frustrated

"Me either" Johnny replies quietly

"Hey Johnny..w-why have you..well why'd you decide to be nice..to me?" I asked stuttering.

"Because..we go through the same things at home Ailee..and..I'm not a rude person anyway if I am..it's torward soc's.." he replied barely over a whisper.

I turned over to face, as he did the same.

"Well..thank you Johnny.." I said quietly

"Of course.." he said with a slight smile

I turned the lights off and we fell straight to sleep.
