Chapter 5

05:28, 11 January 2020

"Are you okay, lately you've been pretty quiet." You're head turned in Kakashi's direction.

"Stop worrying about me, I'm fine. " Kakashi shook his head. "I've never seen you this quiet, it's been months. I know what happened is affecting you and Iruka."

Kakashi looked away, a bit disappointed. "I thought they would have resolved this by now. Did I make things worse by getting involved.."

Kakashi wasn't sure what else he could do. He was sure Iruka would act out when he threatened to take advantage of her. But so far Iruka hadn't even made a move, not a single one.

"I'm getting a bit worried now, maybe I should talk with him again."

"I need to forget about him. It's not worth it. So many years I spent with these feelings and it hasn't gotten me anything but pain. I need to move on from him. There are a lot of other guys in the village. I'm sure if I'll find someone eventually." Kakashi gave you a skeptical look.

"But you don't want anyone else, do you?" you turned with shaky eyes.

"I-I.."

"So long you spent pining over him. If your feelings were half-hearted, don't you think you would have fallen in love with someone else by now. I'm sure you realize that (Y/N). " you held back the tears that threatened to flow.

"Why don't you try one last time. You haven't given him a chance to really explain himself. Just talk to him and if he insists that his feelings aren't there, I'll help you move on. " You looked up at Kakashi. You could see the sincerity in his eyes. You smiled.

"Alright, I'll try it your way. B-But promise me, you promise you'll be there to help me get passed this." Kakashi's eyes softened. "I promise." you grinned, hugging him.

"Thanks Kakashi."

Since your talk with Kakashi you were trying your hardest to build up the courage to talk with Iruka. Everyday you came up with an excuse why you couldn't do it. Kakashi just gave you a look, threatening to put you under a genjutsu and make you run around the village naked. You panicked and finally caved. You decided that after you came back from your current mission, you'd confront Iruka. You needed to get over this. This time, you'd finally have a sense of relief, no matter what the outcome.

Your team was just returning to the village after an exhausting mission. You unfortunately hadn't escaped unscathed. There was a large gash on your right shoulder. A lapse on your part. One of your teammates while in battle had almost lost their life.

Since you were the senior on the mission, it was your duty to make sure nothing happened to any of you teammates. You were so lost in your own thoughts you'd missed an attack aimed at her, which resulted in you jumping in front of the blade. It was a small sword, so luckily it didn't cause to much damage. Of course the other members had fretted, but you assured them you were alright. Better you than them.

You handled pain a lot better than most people. Your only thought was getting back quickly. You were the only medical ninja in your group. With the injury on your shoulder, you didn't have the strength to heal yourself. You needed help.

When the three of you finally stepped inside, as Izumo and Kotetsu greeted you.

"Hey, you're finally back." Kotetsu noticed the large wound on your shoulder.

"(Y/N), you should get that checked out." He advised. Your teammate turned to you with a smile.

"Don't worry about anything else, we'll report to Tsunade. You head to the hospital." you gave a grateful nod.

"T-Thank you.." you said a bit winded. The other male on you team looked concerned. "Do you want me to come with you. You look a lot worse than a few minutes ago." you shook your head.

"I'm fine. I just need some healing and sleep." before he could protest, you were already walking off. "Come on I'm the senior, I should be worrying about you all. Just get to Tsunade. " you didn't give them a chance to argue. You had already disappeared.

Kotetsu sighed. "She sure is stubborn."

"Has the hospital always been this far away?" you weren't sure how long you'd been walking but it felt like hours. Shallow breaths escaped you as you pushed forward. Every step you took forward felt like a physical strain on your body. You were finding it a bit difficult to focus your gaze. You swayed slightly, body feeling like it weighed a ton of bricks.

"S-Shit.." you gasped out. Your vision started to fade as you felt the energy leaving your body. Your eyes clenched shut as you stumbled, body crashing to the floor. You let out a pained grunt at the fall.

"N-Need to...move.." your hands reached out, but you didn't have to strength to raise your body. Dark dots slowly filled your vision, as your limb slumped. Your eyes closed slowly as everything turned dark.

"Iruka..."
