Hacking into a Hacker

11:36, 19 November 2017

The two girls slowly and silently approached the double doors, their breathing loud in their ears.ย  Across the doors wrote two words in peeling white letters: Main Vault. Alicia readied her blastique. Moon raised three fingers.

Two.

One.

Alicia and Moon rammed head-first into the room, Moon screaming at the top of her lungs a war cry. It wasn't when Alicia had clapped her hand onto Moon's mouth did she realise her mistake. Khai, Iman and Jet were squatting behind large crates, goggling at them, while in the centre of the vault, IRIS, with its glasses glowing, glared at them.

"Oops."

"He's in Override mode, attack him without haste!" Alicia commanded sharply.

And the fight started at once.ย

Alicia shot two bombs at once to IRIS, who only managed to jump out of the way. When it landed, it was forced to do a somersault to avoid Jet and Iman's attack. In the end, Iman's scarf tied around the swerving Jet instead and pulled him off the air.ย

IRIS felt someone poking it at the back, and punched Moon right with its fist. Except that it wasn't Moon. The holographic Moon dissolved as it was hit with its fist, but it did not stop there. More and more Moons were appearing out of nowhere and crowding around IRIS, trying to spare some time for Jet to disentangle himself from Iman's scarf.

Unfortunately, IRIS has spotted the real Moon far too soon and hit her with a blast of its yoyo. Moon was blasted backwards into a crate, she herself disappearing amongst the shower of splintered wood.

"Tie him up," Alicia ordered the remaining others. "We need to worm out information from him."

Jet and Iman nodded, and charged straight towards IRIS.

Khai, meanwhile, was lurking behind a large bundle of dusty crates. He checked whether the coast was clear, and tapped on his golden bracelet, which projected a holographic remote for his hover board. He had barely touched a few buttons when a white cat prowled out of the shadows. Khai's hover board noticed this first, and made an especially loud sound to attract its owner.ย

"Eh, Comot, what are you doing here?" Kha curiously asked the cat.ย

Comot, it seemed, didn't looked like it wanted to attack. It was pointing its paw towards IRIS, on the other side of the room, who had its yoyo's string around Jet's waist, and towards Khai and his hover board.ย

"Uh..." Khai thought for a moment. "You...want me to use my hover board to try to hack into IRIS?"

The cat meowed appreciatively.ย

"Hmm..." Khai said, rubbing his chin in a thoughtful manner. "Hacking into IRIS will be hard. Not to mention it hacks into devices instead. Unless..." He had a sudden idea.

"Comot, has IRIS hacked into anything yet in this place?"

As though annoyed, the cat gave an eye roll. Khai raised his eyebrows, then it came to him that this factory was abandoned for any years and probably their machines wouldn't work anymore.

Khai's hover board was staring at Khai apprehensively while Khai's mind whirled frantically.ย

"Ha, I got an idea!"ย

Alicia swerved left and right to dodge IRIS' yoyo attacks. Iman came from behind, jumping high into the air and throwing down her strong scarf right at IRIS. IRIS had noticed, however, and in a fraction of a second, it had used its aeroboots to go out of range of Iman's attack, tied his yoyo's string around her waist and hurled her right into Alicia.ย

A whistle of wind. Above, Jet was soaring around in the air. Once, twice, thrice, until he was flying so fast he was seen as a blur of yellow. IRIS spun its head round and round, trying to keep Jet in its view. But most incredulously, Jet had blasted through the concrete ceiling of the factory and out of sight, raining dust, bricks and moonlight into the Main Vault below.

Thoroughly confused, IRIS did not realise as Moon crept up from behind. Moon shot her palm on IRIS' back, shocking it with electricity. Unfortunately, it wasn't that effective. IRIS reacted so fast that it might not have happened at all. Luckily Moon was ready for it. As IRIS tried to hook Moon down, she dodged on time and ran away, producing multiple holograms of herself as she did so, so now that she was unable to be found.

IRIS looked frantically about, trying to analyse which is the real Moon. A Moon in the corner of the vault waved enthusiastically at it, and it threw its yoyo at her, to its unfortunate luck it was just a hologram.

"I'm here!" a Moon sitting on a crate called.

"No, I'mย  here!" another Moon peeking from behind a crate said.

"Here!"

"That's not me!"

"I'm the real Moon!"

"You're not!"

IRIS got so fed up that the factory lights (that weren't destroyed by Jet yet) lit up. Everyone looked around curiously when they suddenly flickered on. Furiously, IRIS went to destroy every Moon it can reach as fast as possible, but all of them disappeared whenever he punch, kicked, blasted or tied them up. In merely fifteen seconds, the entire room was devoid of any Moons, so where could the real Moon be?

There was again a loud whistling of wind, as though a plane falling from a tall distance. IRIS looked up in time when it was smashed deep into the ground by Jet's canon-like flying force. Dust filled the air, Alicia, Iman, Moon, Khai and Jet coughing. When it had cleared, there was an immensely large crater in the centre of the room where IRIS laid motionless, though its glasses were still glowing bright.

"Let's do this!" Khai said, his voice tight because of the dust.ย

He pressed on his golden bracelet once more and a hologram of buttons popped up. As Khai pressed this and that, his hover board went towards a large and complicated switch board and scanned it.ย

"Hacking in..." Khai muttered to himself, tapping endlessly on holographic buttons as he went.

IRIS was starting to stir. Alicia noticed, and quickly shot a magnetic bomb to keep it in place.

"Khai, hurry, it won't last long!" Alicia shouted urgently.

A few more buttons and...
