Chapter 20

hey loves, im sorry if this chapter sucks! I wrote it really quickly on the train and yeah so please excuse any spelling mistakes and or anything that doesn't seem right ahah! hope you enjoy though!

I walk up to the room that Niall was in and stop at the door. It’s been two days since we slept on the couch together… he hadn’t said anything about and nor had I.

The power had finally come back on earlier this morning and the hospital called saying I could come visit. The only problem was I didn’t really have a way to get there… until I remembered Niall saying he would take me.

“Niall?” I asked quietly lightly knocking on the door. After a few moments the door flew open revealing Niall and his messy blonde hair.

“Uh hey, what do you want?” He questioned scratching the back of his head. I was a bit taken back by the way he organized his words… maybe I shouldn’t ask him. “S-sorry.” He stuttered shaking his head and running his hands over his face. “I just woke up.”

“Oh sorry… uh you can go back to sleep, no big deal.” I gave him a slight smile before turning on my heel and going to walk away that is until I feel a hand grab my wrist.

“No Kayls, it’s okay, what can I do for you?” He smiles looking more awake now.

“Uh uhm, I was just uh wondering if you could drive me over to the hospital?” I asked quickly avoiding his eye contact. I bit my lip nervously waiting for him to answer.

“Yeah sure let me just take a quick shower, be ready in 20?” He answered and I looked up at him, a smile tugging at my lips. I nodded and turned around walking back over to my room where Zayn was still sleeping.

I had 20 minutes… hm… I looked over at Zayn seeing him as he tossed and turned in the covers. It was almost noon, his lazy bum should be up!

I skipped over to the side of the bed and took a deep breath before jumping on top of him wrapping my arms tight around him. “Zayny Zayny Zayny!” I cooed squeezing him tighter.

“Kaylee get off me!” He groaned sitting up and pushing me off the bed.

“Ouch.” I whimpered as I hit the floor. He looked over the edge of the bed and giggled at me. “Meanie.” I pouted sticking my tongue out at him.

“Oh shush you!” He laughed reaching over and grabbing my hand hoisting me up onto the bed. I sat cross legged in front of him a big cheesy grin on my face. “Kayls can I get your opinion on something?”

“Yeah sure what’s up Zayny poo?” I giggled and shook his head chuckling.

“Alright, well there’s this girl and I really like her… I think she likes me… I mean we talk a lot and we have a lot in common… what should I do?” He asked sitting back in the bed crossing his arms.

“Hm… tell her you like her duh!” I laughed stating the obvious. “If you guys have a lot in common you will get along great, who is the lucky lady?”

“Well her names Perrie… she’s in a girl ban from the UK and she’s stunning.” A light pink made its way to his cheeks as he told her about me.

“Aw Zayn! She sounds lovely, I wish you luck.” I gave him a playful punch on the arm as his cheeks turned pinker.

“Thanks Kayls.” He extended his arms out and I jumped into them giving him a tight hug my cheek pressed to his bare chest.

“Kaylee… uh you ready?” Niall asked awkwardly appearing in the door way.

“Yep, see ya Zayn.” I smiled and bounced off the bed slipping on my shoes. I walked out of the room and towards the door of the hotel, Niall right behind me. “Can we go to my house first? I have to get a few things.”

“Yeah sure.” Niall nodded as we walked into the lift.

“I’ll just be a minute.” I told Niall as we walked into my dark house. I flipped on the light switch so I could see as I walked up the stairs to my room.

 I walked past my mom’s room and it was the first time in a while I thought about her. I haven’t heard from her in a while and I didn’t care. I mean she didn’t care enough to call me. I wouldn’t be too surprised if she never came back. She probably met some guy and got married wherever she is. I don’t care.

I walked into my room and changed into my clothes throwing Harry’s in the hamper so I could wash and return them. I walked over to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and did my hair really quick.

As I bounced down the stairs I saw Niall looking at the photo album on the coffee table. I coughed trying to get his attention.

“Oh uh I’m sorry… I just wanted to uh look.” He replied quickly placing the book back on the table.

“It’s fine.” I mumbled walking over to the door, waiting for Niall. “Ready?” He nodded and walked over to me as we exited the house.

“There was a lot of pictures of you and your dad in there.” Niall broke the awkward silence that had taken place in this painfully long car ride.

“Mhm, I guess.” I bit my thumb looking out the window.

“That’s nice. I have, uh, quite a few books like that I bring on tour with me and look at when I get home sick.” I looked over at him as his eyes became glassy, his hands gripping the steering wheel tighter.

“Are you going back home soon?” I blurted out.

“Yeah, it’s going to be hard. Usually the lads would come with me but they have the tour do and we can’t stop the entire thing just for this, you know?” He took a quick glance over at me and I nodded.

“Uh just take a left here.” I told him as we approached the hospital. He took the left and we pulled into the back car park. He pulled into the closest spot and I hopped out walking towards the entrance.

“Kayls, do you want me to come in?” Niall called from back at the car. I turned around and looked at him as he placed his hands on the top of his head.

“Yeah, please.” I said back as I waited for him. We walked into the hospital and I greeted the lady at the front desk as she handed us our visitor passes.

“He got moved to a different floor babe, he’s on floor 7 now.” She smiled at me and I nodded as Niall and I walked over to the elevator.

“Kaylee how are you?” A familiar voice squeaked as I got into the elevator.

“Sivy! I’m great and you?” I grinned hugging her. She’s one of the nurses that have taken care of my poppy for the past 3 years he has been here.

“Brilliant, although it’s been a rough couple of days.” She sighed as the elevator doors closed. Her British accent got quieter her frame slumping. She looked so tired.

“Aw, how so?”

“With the power and the generators and just everything really. It’s been crazy around here!” She forced a smile onto her face as we stopped at floor 3. “I will see you soon Kaylee, and who is this?” She asked wiggling her eyebrows as she looked at Niall.

“This is Niall.” I rolled my eyes at her immatureness. She giggled and the doors closed. “That was Sivy, one of the nurses who helped my poppy a lot.” I told Niall and he nodded.

I tapped my foot as we waited for the elevator to stop at our floor. Once it reached the doors flew open and I quickly exited walking in the direction on my poppys new room.

“Niall hurry up.” I whisper yelled as I entered my poppy’s room. I looked at his pale body lying on the bed and sighed, nothing has changed. I walked over to him pulling up a chair next to the bed side.

“Hey poppy, its Kaylee… sorry I haven’t been here in a while… there was a big storm.” I sighed grabbing his hand and giving it a quick squeeze hoping to get something back, nothing. “I wish you would just wake up for me already.” I rested my head on top of my other hand my lip trembling.

I felt a hand on my back and remembered Niall was here. “I’m so sorry Niall, I should’ve told you to wait outside.

“It’s fine Kaylee.” I heard the scoot of a chair and looked over to see Niall pulling the seat up next to me. I smiled slightly at him. I looked over at heart monitor and noticed it was beating slower than normal and that frightened me a bit.

“Ms.Kaylee, glad to see you.” Dr.Deran smiled as he walked into the room.

“Hello Doctor.” I smiled back trying to fight off the feeling that something that something was wrong. The only time he came in and talked to me was when something was wrong.

“I have some…. News for you.” His smiled dropped a bit as he sat down in the stool at the end of the bed. I nodded and bit my lip trying to fight off tears. “First do you mind if he is in here?”

“Uh no he can stay, what is the news?” I asked eagerly.

“Well when you first emitted your grandfather into this hospital you signed some papers yes?” He said as he pulled out a packet from his folder. He handed it over to me and I flipped through it coming across a highlighted part.

“Just read that, I have a few things to do and I’ll be back later.” He said quickly before leaving. I read through it and my heart literally stopped. I found it hard to breathe, my brain felt  like it was going to explode.

“Kaylee… Kaylee are you alright?!” Niall questioned shaking me as I sat there completely frozen. He took the papers from my hand and read them.

“Oh my gosh.”
