Chapter 69

( A/n: Part 5 of Breakneck Bog. Btw this part of the episode is going to be changed a bit. I hope you enjoy it. )

Buzz and the dragon riders were now at a cave, they were hiding behind a boulder.

Buzz: ( whispers, to the riders: ) That monster you're after, is actually a bunch of tiny dragons called " Smothering Smokebreath dragons " and the chest you're looking for, is most likely in the nest.

Fishlegs: Smothering Smokebreath dragons, of course!

Snotlout: ( to Fishlegs: ) You knew about these things?

Fishlegs: I didn't think they existed.

Buzz: ( looks at Fishlegs with a raised brow ) And you thought that a " Fog Monster " did?

Hiccup: Guys! Can we please talk about this later? Buzz, what do you know about them?

Buzz: They hide themselves in a veil of smoke, they're very territorial, and they build their nests out of anything that's made of metal. ( Glances at Hiccup's metal leg ) ( to Hiccup: ) You might want to stay away from them, boy.

Tuffnut: That doesn't sound too cozy. Or does it?

Fishlegs: It's not supposed to be. They do it to defend against attacks from bigger dragons.

Hiccup: I wish I could see in there.

Tuffnut: ( is looking at the cave through a spy-glass ) Yeah, you do. ( Chuckles )

Hiccup: ( to Tuffnut: ) Where did you get that?

Tuffnut: Duh. From the ship. Or whatever that was in the tree.

Meryl rolled her eyes and took the spy-glass from Tuffnut and looked at the cave through the spy-glass.

Meryl: Okay, I have good news and I have bad news.

Hiccup: What's the good news?

Meryl: I found the chest.

Hiccup: Great!-

Onyx: And what's the bad news?

Meryl: The Smokebreaths are melding the metal together, and the chest is in the pile.

Hiccup: We've got to get them away from the pile of loot.

Astrid: Maybe we can lure them away.

Meryl: With what?

Buzz: Leave that to me, kids. ( Cracks his knuckles ) It's time to go.... Buzz Wild.

The dragon riders looked at Buzz with confused looks.

( A few seconds later )

Buzz ran into the nest and grabbed a piece of metal from one of the loot piles, and ran out of the nest with it, causing all the Smokebreaths to start chasing him. The riders watched in shock, but the twins watched in amazement as they started to hear Buzz sing.

Buzz: ( singing: ) A dragon is crying, a daughter and her friends in distress! Foreboding thieves have made such a mess. What I detect is a lack of respect, for all that is precious and dear!

The singing slowly faded as Buzz and the Smokebreaths went farther away from the cave.

Tuffnut: That guy is so cool! Why does Meryl get to have him as a parent?

Meryl: He's not my parent. Come on, let's go get the chest.

Once they got inside, Onyx climbed up the pile where the chest was, with ease and tossed it to Hiccup, who caught it.

Meryl: Okay, we got the chest, now let's get on our dragons and find Buzz.

Astrid: I hope he's okay.

( With Buzz )

Buzz was still singing while being chased by the Smokebreaths, doing some tricks while doing it. He was perfectly fine physically, but mentally... he's not even fazed by the fact that he's being chased by dragons that want to attack him for stealing the piece of metal.

Buzz: ( singing: ) Running and climbing, and spinning, and grinning, and dashing, and diving, and dodging, and sliding, and gliding, and staying alive, and these are the few of the things that I do before lunch! Death defying!

Buzz then calmly jumps off a cliff and the Smokebreaths still follow him.

Buzz: ( singing: ) Danger denying! Look I'm flying! You might think I'm mad, but hey! You only live once!

Buzz lands on the ground on his feet, and continues singing while the Smokebreaths were heading straight towards him. The dragon riders found him and watched in disbelief.

Buzz: ( happily singing, while looking at the riders: ) No need to thank me. But if you insist, I won't resist. ( To the Smokebreaths as they were about to attack him: ) Who smells like fish?!

The Smokebreaths stopped in place when he said that and some even sniffed themselves.

Buzz: ( to the Smokebreaths, calmly: ) Hold on to your butts! ( Sings loudly, causing a land slide, which he dodged by taking a few steps forward: ) Class DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSS....

Once the landslide was over, all the Smokebreaths flew away from Buzz, not wanting to take the risk for the piece of metal Buzz stole anymore.

Buzz: ( finished singing: ) ....MIIIIIIIISSSSED....!

Buzz calmly tossed the piece of metal behind him and smiled proudly.

Buzz: Good day.

Tuffnut: So....cool.

Buzz: ( to the riders, happily: ) Hello, kids! Did you get that chest of yours?

Hiccup: Yes, thank you!

Buzz: No problem. Any friend of my daughter's, is a friend of mine.

Meryl groaned in response when Buzz called her his daughter. Onyx flew Fáfnir down, Onyx helped Buzz get on his dragon's back, and they went back to the group.

Buzz: Where we going?

Onyx: To Berk, it's where Meryl has been all these years.

Buzz: Years? She has only been gone for ten weeks.

Fishlegs: Um, no, sir. 120 months equals ten years...

Buzz thinks before his eyes widened in realization.

Buzz: Holy pineapple! No wonder, Meryl is acting different now! What kind of man am I to have noticed that?!

Onyx: Well, you have been alone on that island for ten years, so... Your mental health might not be the greatest.

Hiccup: ( to Buzz: ) Don't worry, I'm sure our healer, Gothi, will help you.

When they got to Berk, Meryl went to take Buzz to Gothi while the others went to tell Stoick what happened. After Gothi had checked Buzz, she turned to Meryl and wrote on the ground with her staff.

Meryl: ( reads what she wrote, then looks at her ) ( whispers to Gothi, so Buzz doesn't hear her: ) Are you sure, me not telling him that I'm not his daughter for now, will help him?

Gothi nods her head and wrote on the ground with her staff again and Meryl read it.

Meryl: I guess you're right, if we throw all of this at him all at once, would do more harm than good.

( Later that night, At Meryl's house )

Meryl was tucking Liv in for the night. Evergreen and Goofball were in the living room with Buzz, sniffing him out of curiosity. Buzz then saw the unconscious six year old in the bed in the guest room and raised his brow.

Buzz: ( to Meryl: ) Who's the kid, sweetheart?

Meryl: She's a dragonet that me and the riders have been trying to rescue. She doesn't know that she's a...

Buzz: Oh... Poor kid. But, I know you and your odd bunch of friends will get to her soon. I bet my wings on it.

Meryl chuckled slightly, before she nervously scratched the back of her head.

Meryl: ( to Buzz: ) Listen, I....

Buzz: Yes, kiddo?

Meryl: I... ( Sighs ) I'm glad to have you here. It might be nice to have some more help around the house.

Buzz: Of course! It's my job as your father afterall. Now, let's head to bed, I'll sleep on a chair. Tomorrow's another day as a human, and tonight is the time of Scalewalkers.

( Slight Time Skip )

Meryl and Buzz were now dragons, and they flew to the cove and saw Onyx and Tida, who were also dragons.

Buzz: ( looks at Tida with a smile ) Who's this little bugger?

Onyx: That's Tida, she's the twins' little sister.

Meryl: Me and Onyx watch over her during the night.

Buzz: Well, tonight, I'll be watching her with ya. And I think I know something fun we can do.

Meryl and Onyx shared a worried look while Tida looked excited.

A few seconds later, Buzz, Meryl, Onyx, and Tida were racing each other in to forest, they were running instead of flying and Tida was keeping up with the older Scalewalkers very well.

Buzz: ( to the three young Scalewalkers: ) Remember to always keep your skills in shape in both forms, kids. A rusty skilled Scalewalker, is a dead one. And you don't need to fly to be able to survive.

Onyx: Way ahead of you, Buzz! ( Laughs as he climbed a tree and began jumping tree to tree, getting the lead ) Woohoo!

Meryl: ( laughs ) No fair, Onyx!

Tida then sees one of Kitty's holes in the ground, had an idea, and she jumped on it then jumped out of the ground from another whispering death tunnel ahead of Meryl and Buzz.

Buzz: ( impressed ) Clever SeaDiver.

Meryl: Yep. ( Chuckles )
