Darkness Falls

12:27, 30 July 2022

This wasn't good. Vaatu had escaped his prison!

"Raava, nothing could stop this moment. Harmonic Convergence is upon us again." He laughed

"I'm not going to let you fuse with Unalaq. You're going right back in that prison." Korra threatened

Vaatu flew into the air before diving down towards Unalaq, who held his arms out ready to fuse with the spirit.

Korra entered the Avatar State and stopped him with a large blast of fire before catching Unalaq with airbending, lifting him off the ground, and flinging him back through the portal.

Coming out of the Avatar State, she turned to her friends "Don't let Unalaq back in the Spirit World."

"We're on it." El and the boys ran through the portal, and Korra turned back to Vaatu, who was charging right at her.

She re-entered the Avatar State and charged at Vaatu via a thrust of firebending

*

"Jinora. Jinora's spirit do you hear me? It's your Uncle Bumi." Bumi called out as they wandered the Spirit World.

"Ah, this isn't working. We can't just randomly wander the Spirit World, call out for Jinora, and expect to find her" Tenzin sighed "We need to find the Fog of Lost Souls"

"You think El was right?" Kya asked

"I do. She may not act like it at times, but she's smart and she knows the Spirit World better than any of us" Tenzin replied

"We just need to employ the simple rules of tracking."Bumi knelt down " First we locate Jinora's footprints ... then we follow them."

" Do you even know what spirit footprints look like? Do spirits even leave footprints? Face it, your tracking skills won't work in the Spirit World" Ursa huffed

"Let me try something" Kya sat down and began meditating before pointing in a direction " Jinora is over there. I feel a lot of spiritual energy coming from that direction."

"We're in the Spirit World. There's spiritual energy in every direction." Bumi gestured around them.

"Enough! We can't do this by ourselves. We need a spirit guide." Tenzin declared before walking off. The others quickly followed.

"There," They approached a hole in the trunk of a large tree with a glowing star inside.

"Spirit, hello." Tenzin called "I'm sorry to disturb you, but I am in need of your assistance."

"You dare wake me, human?" The spirit hissed " Humans in the Spirit World belong in one place only!"

The spirit, a huge dark spider, emerged from the hole and charged at the humans who quickly ran away as the spirit shot webbing out of its mouth.

The four ran through the bushes at the edge of a cliff before jumping off just as the spider spirit caught up with them.

Falling through trees, they landed in a heap below, dazed.

"Well, that didn't work. Now, where are we?" Bumi questioned, brushing himself off as Tenzin airbent everyone to their feet.

"We're completely lost." Tenzin sighed

*

Outside the spirit portal, El and the boys were alert and ready. The boys glanced at each other as El kept her gaze locked on the forest in front of them.

Suddenly a barrage of rapid ice spikes attacked the trio from behind them.

El gasped and sent the spikes away with a swipe of air. But as soon as they were gone, more ice spikes took their place.

Bolin quickly protected them with an earth wall before the spikes could hit them.

Mako and El used their bending to attack the hidden attacker before Bolin earthbent a chunk of the wall in the direction of the assault.

Everything fell silent, as they waited for another attack.

El felt the air currents shift behind them, turning in time to see another barrage of ice spikes from the opposite direction.

"Watch out!" The trio managed to dodge the attack by separating, Mako on his own and Elira with Bolin.

Mako attacked with firebending, while El sent out air blasts and  Bolin somersaulted while earthbending, creating a slab of rock in front of him,

He threw another rock but was then struck by an ice spike.

The rock managed to protect him, but the impact threw him into El behind him, sending the duo toward Mako.

"I don't know if we can win this fight," Bolin stated, helping El to her feet

"We don't need to win, we just need to stop Unalaq from getting back in the Spirit World" Mako replied

"Heads up, boys!" El cried as another barrage of ice spikes attacked them and Bolin quickly stopped them with an earth wall.

*

Back in the Spirit World, Tenzin, Ursa, Kya and Bumi were wandering about a mysterious spirit forest, completely lost. When they walked past a spirit mushroom, Tenzin turned to look at it.

"We're walking in circles,  I've seen that same spirit mushroom five times." He pointed at the mushroom.

"That's not the same mushroom," Bumi argued

"Yes, I am." The mushroom replied

"See? Even it knows we're lost." Tenzin facepalmed

"Oh sure, listen to a fungus over your own brother." Bumi scowled

"Okay, you two, knock it off" Ursa huffed before a sudden strange noise caused them all to jump.

"What's that?" Kya asked, hiding behind Ursa.

"Mushroom? Is that you?" Bumi asked

"No, wasn't me." The mushroom replied

A figure then approached the family out of the darkness, causing them to gasp in fear and caution.

"Stay back" Ursa warned, igniting her palm

The mysterious figure walked into the light, revealing an old man with a fox by his side.

The family were stunned.

"Grandpa?!" Bumi gasped upon recognising his mother's uncle who was more like a father to her than anything.

"How ...? Where ...? It's been so long." Tenzin stuttered

"Almost forty years. It's nice to see you again and my haven't you all grown" Iroh smiled

"How did you know we were here?" Ursa asked

" My friendly spirit fox told me you were lost, I came to show you the way out," Iroh explained, stroking the spirit by his side.

"Grandpa Iroh, we are grateful, but we're not looking for the way out. We're looking for my daughter." Tenzin stated

"I'm sorry to hear that. But you shouldn't be here, Vaatu has escaped and darkness threatens to take over."

"I'm not leaving until I find Jinora." Tenzin declared

"I understand. But I beg you to be careful, if you travel too deep into the Spirit World, you could end up in a place where only the lost will ever find you." Iroh advised

"The Fog of Lost Souls, we already know, Elira figured it out. We just don't know how to get there" Tenzin explained

"I see. You know sometimes in life, the way behind is the way ahead" Iroh stated causing the family to look at each other confused.

As they turned back, they noticed that Iroh had disappeared. Tenzin tried to catch up, but stopped and contemplated.

"He always did speak in riddles" Ursa sighed

"Yeah, I never really understood what he meant half the time. To be honest, neither did dad" Kya added

"The way behind...is the way ahead..." Tenzin muttered to himself "That's it! I know how to find Jinora!"

*

Back outside the portal, the trio were still hidden behind the earth walls. But whoever was attacking them had stopped for some reason.

"Unalaq?" Bolin peered over the rock " Are you out there?"

No response

"He must've gone home?" Bolin shrugged at the others.

"I don't think so, Bo..." El muttered beside him before Bolin peered over the rock again

"Hello, my feeble turtle duck." Eska suddenly appeared over from the other side.

Bolin yelled in fright before Eska knocked him and Elira away with waterbending.

Mako turned at Bolin's scream, but Desna suddenly emerged behind Mako.

Before he could retaliate, Desna knocked him away with waterbending toward Bolin and El.

Just as the trio recovered, they were hit by a large water blast, knocking them unconscious.

Unalaq appeared from the trees, riding a wave

"Don't let them escape this time." He ordered the twins, landing on his feet before entering the spirit portal again.

The twins glanced at each other with unsure looks before Desna walked over to Elira laying on the floor.

He knelt beside her and gently moved a few strands of hair out of her face.

"Forgive me, Elira. I wish it didn't have to be this way" He whispered as his sister watched from behind.

*

Back in the Spirit World, Tenzin and his family were standing outside the hollow of the tree where the dark spider scorpion spirit resided.

"Are you this is the best way to find Jinora?" Bumi asked

"Trust me," Tenzin said before sending a blast of air into the tree at the spirit "Hey you! Spirit! Wake up!"

"You again?!" The spirit snarled,  emerging from the tree and attacking the group, capturing them in a web.

The large spirit then began dragging them to an unknown location. After a while of being dragged along the floor, the spirit soon stopped and swung its prisoners for them to look at a vast canyon with sharp rocks and a thick fog blanketing it.

"I thought we were gonna be taken to a prison?" Kya muttered

"This is a prison," Tenzin replied

"Welcome to the Fog of Lost Souls. You will never escape." The spirit growled

As the spirit walked away, it threw the group into the canyon, who screamed in the process.

*

In the real world,  Eska was dragging Mako and Bolin away while Desna carried Elira in his arms.

Unknown to the twins, but the brothers soon regained consciousness. Bolin glanced up at El who opened one of her eyes and smiled, letting them know she, too, was awake.

The boys looked at each other before nodding in agreement.

Mako kicked a blast of fire at Eska to free himself, making her release him and Bolin and Elira used her airbending to flip herself out of Desna's arms and over his shoulder.

As the trio ran off, Bolin earthbent two earth columns to knock down Desna and Eska.

The trio ran into the portal and Elira gasped upon seeing Vaatu free and Korra unconscious on the ground.

"Korra!"

"Stop!"  Desna and Eska ran through the portal behind them, bending out streams of water, trapping the trio in ice blocks.

Korra slowly sat up to see Vaatu approaching Unalaq.

Mustering as much strength as possible, she threw a fire blast but Unalaq blocked it with a blast of water.

Korra fell to her knees again, exhausted as Vaatu flew over and dived down before entering Unalaq in a beam of purple light!

Unalaq, now with orange-red eyes, stumbled slightly before standing erect again, with the imprint of Vaatu on his chest.

He approached the Northern portal and touched it.

The overlapping portals energized, engulfing Unalaq with purple energy, who let out a blast of dark energy from his mouth, a blinding light shining from his body.

"No!" Korra gasped as Unalaq yelled

As the energy dissipated, Unalaq opened his eyes which glowed orange-red.

The Dark Avatar had been created!

"We are now one! Now a new era for spirits and humans will begin! And I will lead them all as the new Avatar!"

Korra got to her feet and walked towards her uncle "Well I'm the old Avatar, and my era's not over yet!"

A spout of air emerged behind Korra, and the two Avatars charged toward each other, colliding with a blinding light.

*

In the Fog Of Lost Souls,  Bumi, Ursa, Kya and Tenzin wandered aimlessly looking for Jinora.

"What kind of prison doesn't have any bars or walls? We can walk right out of here." Bumi questioned

"The Fog of Lost Souls is a spirit prison for humans. I read about it in the same ancient text Elira did. The fog is actually a spirit that infects your mind and slowly drives you mad, imprisoning you in your own darkest memories" Tenzin explained making Kya gasp and look around cautiously

"Well, that's just great" Ursa grumbled sarcastically

"How long can we be trapped in here?" Kya asked uneasily as suddenly a Fire Nation man with a crazed look walked passed them.

"I am Zhao the Conqueror" He declared as the family turned to him in surprise " I am the Moon Slayer. I will capture the Avatar and return the princess...I am Zhao the Conqueror. I am the Moon Slayer. I will capture the Avatar and return the princess"

"Hopefully we're not trapped in here as long as that guy" Ursa muttered, eyeing the guy suspiciously. She could've sworn she'd heard the name "Zhao" before but just couldn't remember where from.

The man finally noticed the group watching him. More importantly, he noticed Tenzin.

"You, you're him. The last airbender!" He grabbed hold of Tenzin.

" Ah, no! Get off me!"

Zhao pulled Tenzin towards him "You've grown. But I will still defeat you"

"He said get off!" Ursa pushed Zhao away from her little brother

The man stopped when he saw her "Princess Azira!"

He quickly grabbed the woman's arm "I will return you to the Fire Lord!"

"Hey, let go of me you creep!" Ursa yelled

Kya and Bumi grabbed hold of Zhao from behind and tore him away from Ursa. She and Tenzin watching in horror as Kya and Bumi pushed him away with Kya waterbending.

"Run!"

"Come back Avatar. Face me! I am Zhao the Conqueror. I will capture you! I will return the princess! Victory will be mine!"

The family quickly ran off and Zhao faded into the fog

"Who was that?" Kya panted once Zhao was no longer visible

"I have no idea" Tenzin replied

"I think I do," Ursa said making them turn to her "Remember the story our parents told us as kids? About the Siege of the Northern Water Tribe and the crazy commander who tried to destroy the moon spirit...His name was Zhao"

Kya, Tenzin and Bumi's eyes widened in realisation before Bumi scowled and went to charge back to where they had left the crazy commander.

"Woah, where do you think you're going?" Kya stopped him

"To teach him a lesson" Bumi answered

"What for?" Ursa questioned

"Don't you remember? That nut-job tried to kill our mother"

"Bumi, he's been trapped in here for over 70 years. This is his punishment" Tenzin declared "Now come on, we need to find Jinora"

Taking his sash, Tenzin loosened it enough for his family to tie it around their waists, keeping them together so they didn't get lost.

"If we stay together, we'll find Jinora and make it out of this fog." He said before they headed off into the fog.

*

Unalaq had chased Korra out of the spirit portal, back to the South Pole.

Korra attacked with firebending, which Unalaq neutralized with large ice walls.

Both made their way out of the encampment and Korra attacked Unalaq with airbending but missed.

Unalaq sent a barrage of ice shards at Korra but she dodged them by gaining altitude before throwing numerous large rocks at her uncle.

Unalaq destroyed the rocks with two water whips and then directed the water toward Korra.

Korra stopped the whips with a large ice disc, but Unalaq's water wrapped around it and threw her off toward the ground.

Unalaq dropped down from his waterspout before punching the ground causing a fissure to open underneath Korra and trap her.

Standing over her, he began to close the fissure, slowly crushing Korra inside.

"Give in. Your time is over!" He yelled

Korra attempted to struggle free, but couldn't.

"Korra, this fight is not over." A voice inside her head spoke as she nearly passed out

"Raava" Korra whispered

"Vaatu cannot win. Do not give in to ten thousand years of darkness. You are the Avatar."

Korra's eyes snapped open, glowing brightly.

Fire erupted from the fissure, knocking Unalaq back as Korra emerged from the fissure via an air spout with a golden glow around her.

"You cannot win." She glared, her voice mixed with Raava's

She attacked Unalaq with a strong air blast, but he dodged it by rising from a waterspout.

He retaliated with a water blast, but missed and quickly fled on the waterspout as Korra chased after him.

*

"Jinora! Jinora!" Tenzin called out for his daughter

"Wait a second." Bumi stopped

"What, do you hear something?" Tenzin questioned

"Yes. They're all around us. The cannibals, they're everywhere!" Bumi looked around in morbid fear

"Bumi, you must focus your mind. Right now! There are no cannibals" Tenzin said as Kya looked suspiciously at herself and Ursa glanced around in fear.

"Yes, there are! They're gonna eat every last one of us!" Bumi exclaimed

Kya suddenly screamed, startling her cousins "Who are you three?!"

She tried to untie herself but Tenzin quickly stopped her "Kya, we're your cousins. You must remember"

"No, I have no family. You can't tie me down!" Kya cried

"Where am I? What is this place?" Ursa too began to freak out and Tenzin grabbed a hold of her.

"Ursa, snap out of it before the fog infects you. It's me, it's Tenzin, your brother"

"No, let me go! You're just a vision! You're not real! I want my dad! Where's my dad?!" Ursa struggled in his grasp

"They're closing in! I gotta get out of here!" Bumi untied himself and ran away, screaming.

As Tenzin tried to stop him, Ursa and Kya untied themselves and ran in different directions screaming.

"No! Bumi! Kya! Ursa! Come back!" Tenzin yelled but it was too late, they had disappeared into the fog.

Tenzin airbent the fog away in both directions but the fog returned so he doubled his power to dissipate the fog. The fog still returned, leaving him alone before he is obscured by the fog.

*

Back at the portals Desna and Eska approached El and the boys frozen in the blocks of ice.

"Please, let us out," Mako begged them

"His grovelling is pathetic," Desna said

"But I do enjoy the sweet scent of desperation," Eska added

"Desna, please!" El looked as best she could at the prince "Unalaq, he's become this evil monster. He's gonna bring on eternal darkness. He's gone crazy in his search for power, that's all he's after. So long as he gets what he wants, he doesn't care who he hurts-- Including you!"

Desna stared at her for a moment before turning to his sister "Father was going to let me expire when we tried to open the northern portal. Perhaps we should rethink our position."

"Yes! That's exactly what I'm talking about. I know it's harsh but it's the truth. He's not your father anymore"

"No. Don't listen to her. Your affection for her is poisoning your mind" Eska snapped, narrowing her eyes at Elira who returned the glare.

Bolin suddenly burst into tears making them all look at him in confusion.

" What's with this outburst of emotion?" Eska asked

"I'm sorry, I can't help it. It's just so sad that I'll never be with you again." Bolin wept, shocking the others.

"What? Explain yourself further." Eska demanded, taking a step forward, stopping beside El.

"Eska, I've always loved you" Bolin admitted "And I always wanted to be with you"

El frowned, closing her eyes saddened as Bolin spoke. Mako watched his brother in confusion. What was he doing?

Following his gaze, his eyes widened when he realised what Bolin was doing. Eska was standing right beside El trapped in the ice... and Bolin was staring right at the airbender!

Eska thought he was talking to her when really, everything he was saying...he was saying to El!

"But now that the world is ending, I'm never gonna get that chance." Bolin continued to weep, his gaze on El but she didn't pick up on what he was doing.

"We could have been together, but you left me at the altar." Eska snapped, stopping in front of Bolin.

"No, I was scared. I was scared of my true feelings for you" Bolin glanced at El again briefly before back at Eska " Gah, I should have never left you. I'm sorry. And I'm sorry that we'll never have the chance to rekindle the dying ember that was our love into a big fire of love flames."

Eska continued to glare at Bolin before her face softened and she kissed him, melting the ice around him, Mako and El.

"You'll never defeat my father" Eska stated as she stopped kissing Bolin "But, should you survive, perhaps we could spend eternal darkness together"

Mako tapped El, gesturing to her with his head that it was time to leave. She nodded and Mako then did the same to Bolin, tapping him on the shoulder before the trio took off.

"Wow! That was the best acting I've ever seen. You completely fooled her." Mako grinned as they ran.

"Yeah right, huh. That was acting" Bolin muttered, glancing at El again

She just turned away from him and sped up. Bolin watched her confused and slightly hurt. Had she really not picked up on what he was doing?

As the trio ran out of the portal into the South Pole, they witnessed the two Avatars still fighting.

Korra shielded herself from Unalaq's water attacks with fire before exiting her air spout.

As she fell to the ground, she directed three rocks, knocking Unalaq off his waterspout.

Unalaq managed to remain in the waterspout and direct two water streams at Korra, which she nimbly dodged before propelling herself with earthbending and throwing fire blasts at her uncle.

Unalaq threw a large water whip at Korra, which she managed to catch, before freezing it around his arm and pulling him to the ground.

Korra bent out another water whip and trapped Unalaq's free hand, freezing it.

Unalaq entered his Avatar State and pulled Korra toward him.

The Avatars dragged themselves toward the centre, and Korra, glaring at her uncle, entered the Avatar State, too.

The show of strength caused the ground around them to rumble and crack.

Unalaq suddenly smirked before his head began twitching and Vaatu emerged from within him.

"What the..." El muttered, staring in shock along with the brothers as they ran towards the fight.

Korra glared and attempted to attack Vaatu with a fire breath, but Vaatu entered her mouth!

Korra dropped to her knees and a few seconds later Vaatu pulled away dragging Raava out with him.

Korra weakened, collapsed onto the ground, watching helplessly as Unalaq trapped Raava in a water bubble before Vaatu re-entered his body, and he grinned viciously.

*

Ursa wandered aimlessly through the fog. Her mind in shambles. She didn't know where she was, didn't how she even ended up there and had no idea how to get out. All she knew is that she wanted her father...whoever he was.

"Ursa..."

"Hello?" The firebender stopped and whirled around, looking terrified.

"Ursa..."

She spun around again "Who's there?"

"Ursa..."

Spinning around again, Ursa found herself surrounded by multiple visions of herself. All staring at her blankly.

"You were never good enough for them," One said "You will never be good enough for them"

"Least loved by your father who craved an airbender" Another added

"Least wanted by the world who prefer your brother," said a third

"Stop it" Ursa shut her eyes tightly

"You tried to win their love"

"By helping people"

"By trying to be like your parents"

"Please" Ursa begged, holding her head as tears formed in her eyes.

"But you will never compare to Tenzin"

"You are just another failure."

"A disgrace"

"A mistake!" The visions said together

"I said STOP!" Ursa fell to her knees, covering her ears as fire shot out around her and the visions disappeared into the fog.

Tears fell down her cheeks as she sobbed quietly to herself.

"Ursa" A more familiar voice called but the firebender refused to look up until she felt someone stroke her head softly.

Lifting her head, she gasped slightly and her eyes widened upon seeing who it was

"...Dad?..."

Aang smiled softly "My daughter"

Ursa felt more tears slip down her cheeks and she lowered her head again.

"No, this isn't real. This is another trick. You're not real" She shut her eyes again

"I'm right here, Ursa. I will always be right here" Aang said

"No, you're not..." Ursa opened her eyes again seeing the vision of her father had vanished.

"You never were" She whispered, wrapping her arms around herself

*

"You must stay focused. Remember who you are Tenzin. You are the son of Avatar Aang" Tenzin said to himself as he wandered the fog " You are the hope for future generations of airbenders. The fate of the world rests on your shoulders. But what if I fail?"

He stopped and looked around " Then your father's hopes of the future dies with you. I can't fail. You will"

Tenzin covered his ear, falling to his knees as he argued with himself

" Ah, stop it! I am the son of Avatar Aang. I am the hope for future generations of airbenders. I am the son of Avatar Aang"

"Hello, my son." Looking up, Tenzin was shocked to see an image of his father standing before him.

"Dad..." Tenzin lowered his head in shame " I've failed you. I am no spiritual leader, and I've let the world down. I'll never be the man you were."

"...You are right"

Tenzin looked up shocked at the revelation

" You are trying to hold on to a false perception of yourself. You are not me and you should not be me. You are Tenzin."

A puff of smoke engulfed Aang and when it disappeared, he became a reflection of his son.

Tenzin stared at his reflection for a moment before his face hardened in determination.

"I am not a reflection of my father. I am Tenzin" He got to his feet

" I am Tenzin!" He declared with his reflection and a glow of light illuminated the sky, dissipating the fog.

Tenzin looked on in amazement and scanned the surroundings for his daughter.

Finally, he spotted a small figure dressed in yellow and orange robes kneeling on the floor by herself.

"Jinora!" He ran over and fell to his knees beside her, tugging her tightly.

Picking her up, Tenzin located the rest of his family and lead them out of the valley.

When they exited, the fog returned and the others awoke from their daze.

"Huh? What happened?" Bumi muttered

"I think our brother saved us." Ursa smiled, wiping the dried tears from her face

Jinora opened her eyes and smiled upon seeing her father. "Dad."

She hugged him tightly.

"You'll be okay sweetie. I'm here."

"What happened? The last thing I remembered was dark spirits taking me away." Jinora questioned as a light butterfly spirit landed on her arm

"You were trapped in the Fog of Lost Souls. But neither I nor your sister were going to let you stay there" Tenzin explained

"I'm so happy to see you, Dad." Jinora hugged him tighter as two more light butterflies landed on them and Ursa, Bumi and Kya joined the hug.

*

In the South Pole, El and the boys were sprinting as fast as they could towards the fight.

"Korra!" Mako and Bolin yelled

"He's got Raava!" El cried, seeing Unalaq preparing to attack the light spirit.

The trio sent a barrage of attacks at Unalaq but the Dark Avatar easily neutralized their attacks before retaliating with huge ice spikes.

"El!" In a split second, Bolin had grabbed a hold of the airbender, holding her tightly as they were thrown back.

The boys landed unconscious in the snow as Elira groaned in pain, just barely awake. Everything hurt. Looking up with blurry vision, El saw that Raava had landed not far from Korra and the Avatar was weakly attempting to reach for her.

But before she could grab her, Unalaq picked up the spirit with purple streams of water and slammed her against a rock.

He then shot a strong blast of water at Raava causing Korra to groan in pain.

Her vision flashed white, seeing Aang standing with the other Avatars.

But he soon vanished!

With another strike, Avatar Roku too disappeared!

Another hit!

 Avatar Kyoshi vanished

Korra weakly tried to get up, but another strike on Raava caused her to shrink in pain as her vision of Avatars Kuruk, Yangchen, and Szeto disappeared.

Unalaq smirked as he continued to relentlessly attack the light spirit.

His brutal strikes leading to multiple rows of Avatars being destroyed.

Unalaq bent out one last stream of water preparing for the final blast and Korra futilely tried to muster sufficient strength.

"No...Raava..." El, too, attempted to sit up. But with shaking arms, she fell back into the snow.

With one last blow... Raava was destroyed!

The light spirit dissipates in a glow of golden light, and Korra's vision of Avatar Wan disappeared.

Korra struggled to muster sufficient strength but ultimately ended up passing out.

Elira watched in horror as Unalaq subsequently turned dark, with Vaatu's patterns on his chest, and grew slightly in size!

*

In the Spirit World, Tenzin and his family were starting to leave when Jinora suddenly stopped and turned back.

"The world is in trouble." She muttered

"What are you talking about? How do you know?" Tenzin questioned

"I can feel it," Jinora replied

"What happened?" Bumi asked

"It's Korra." Jinora passed a light butterfly spirit from her shoulder to her father "This light spirit will guide you out of the Spirit World. I have to go help"

"Jinora, wait!" Tenzin reached out for his daughter but she had already faded away with a blue light.

"Come on, we have to hurry" Ursa called "If Korra's in trouble, I have a feeling El and the boys are too"

Tenzin's eyes widened in fear and the family rushed off.

*

Back in the South Pole, the boys had woken up, quickly rushing over to the unconscious Korra with El and picking her up.

They turned to see Unalaq growing in size and Elira clung to Bolin in fear, the earthbender wrapping his arm around her, as behind them Desna and Eska appeared from the portal. They were stunned and slightly afraid at the sight of their father growing to large proportions.

"Now, ten thousand years of darkness begins!" Unavaatu roared as the wind picked up.

He reaches up to the spirit lights, creating a blinding light than a storm.

The trio watched in fear as Unalaq teleported away. The impact threw them all back, landing in the snow unconscious once again...
