Chapter IV - Wrongly Arrested

"Well, that's an awfully bandaged wound," Iris said, carefully taking off the white and red colored fabric from her friend's shoulder.

June winced but immediately wiped the painful expression off her face."You know me, I was always pretty bad at fixing wounds," She said grinning.

Iris bent the water from the pot beside her and she started healing the wide cut on June's shoulder. She and her husband had just returned from their Honeymoon. They couldn't afford to stay away from the Palace longer than a week.

"Mind telling us what happened?" Zuko asked folding his hands against his chest.

"It was a man. Not a bender. At first I thought it was just one of the muscular men I used to kick their butt off, but... this is something else..." June said and she turned at Iris "...he seeks revenge, not just from me, from you, from Herla, Talia, Gia, all of us,"

"He's just another victim of our past-" Iris tried to say as she finished healing her friend, but Zuko cut her.

"Last time we dealt with that kind of victims I almost lost you..." Zuko said walking towards her and he wrapped her elbows with his hands "...not this time,"

"You won't lose me. How many times have I fooled you about that?" Iris asked grinning as she rested her hands on his chest.

He shrugged playfully "A lot,"

"Whatever. When you two lovebirds stop flirting, you might want to start dealing with the situation," June said waking up and unleashing her sleeve to its full size that covered her shoulder.

Iris and Zuko pulled away from each other.

"She's right," Iris whispered at her husband.

"Sorry, can't help it," Zuko whispered back at her and she shot him a playful look.

Iris turned back at her friend and she said "Okay, I'll inform the Avatar. We'll take care of him,"

"How? He could be anywhere by now," Zuko asked.

"If he's still in the Earth Kingdom he'll go to all the rest of our team," Iris said "...June, where have the other five of us settled those last years?"

"I can take you to them,"

Roar!

She could recognize that sound anywhere. Toph turned at the Dark One, Ho Tun, and Penga saying "You guys continue training all these idiots, I think the Avatar's here,"

"THE AVATAR-" Ho Tun tried to say excitedly but the Dark One shut his mouth with his hand.

"Are you crazy?! If they hear that the Avatar is here they'll walk out storming for autographs," Penga said.

"Short-headed aren't you, my friend? Like the head of a clown-fish that roams the seas, yet its memory lasts only three mere seconds," The Dark One said.

"I'm the only one who understands your poetry, so I'm not short-headed, Dark One," Ho Tun said shooting his friend a deadly look.

"Quit, your bickering and draw their attention," Toph said at the three of them pointing at the countless students that waited for an instructor.

The partnership with the Earthen Fire Industries really helped expand the building to a huge Academy that fitted hundreds of students. Toph was really proud of it.

Toph had grown a lot and she was dying for a new mission with her friends. She had gotten sick of the Dark One's poetry and those three's belly-aching every time they got into an argument.

Toph walked out of the building and she crossed her arms when she felt the light pounding on the ground. This was definitely Aang's footsteps, followed by Sokka's clumsy walking and then followed Katara.

"What are you guys doing here?" Toph asked raising an eyebrow.

"Iris called us to gather in Yu Dao. She said it's urgent," Katara explained.

"Urgent how?" Toph asked. She rolled her eyes "What the hell happened again?"

"She didn't mention anything in the letter," Aang said.

"You guys came just in time. I was freaking out with all these Lily Liv-I mean- students," Toph said and she walked towards Appa and they all got on the Bison which started flying towards the City.

When they reached the City, they met Iris and June in the tavern they had agreed to meet.

"Iris!" Aang, Katara, and Sokka exclaimed happily.

Iris shared a hug with her brother and Katara, but when the time came to hug Sokka, they both hesitated. She was automatically going to hug him. They both were, and they stopped as if this was the most awkward thing for those two. That gave Toph a few suspicions and she raised an eyebrow.

They finally pulled it together and they hugged briefly, pulling away immediately.

"June," Aang said using the old Air Nomad tradition of bowing when meeting someone.

June bowed as well "Avatar Aang,"

"What are you doing here?" Sokka asked.

"Sit, please, we're waiting," June said as she and Iris sat down at the chairs around the roundtable.

The others also sat around. "What are you waiting for?" Katara asked.

"Him," June said pointing at the entrance of the tavern. "He slaughtered everyone in my tavern trying to kill me..." everyone turned and looked at him.

They were all sitting at the table on the edge of the building so he didn't notice them at first sight. He was muscular, clearly not a bender. He was wearing a long cape, hood covered his face. He was probably wearing it to cover his scars.

"...he said that he was going to kill all of us. When Iris and I were Assassins at the Academy, we had formed a team. A group of skilled women and every case and mission we fulfilled we did it together," June explained.

"Our guess is, that he's a victim of our past. He'll be hunting us down until he kills us all," Iris said.

"And being here today it means that he already knows the locations of each one of us," June added.

"You're right, I do," A husky voice heard and then their table was turned upside down.

Everybody woke up getting into their stances. The waitress turned around and she got into her stance as well.

Iris blinked once and she looked at the waitress as she dropped the disk "Talia?!" she said surprised.

"Iris, June?! What are you guys doing here?" Talia asked. She had black hair, green eyes but she wasn't much tall.

"So that's a reunion," The man said ironically drawing their attention back to him.

"Give me a second," Talia said as she wrapped a knife from the table beside her and she jumped onto him. She had a small body, but she didn't lack strength either.

Before she was able to use the knife and slice his throat he wrapped her and he threw her towards Team Avatar. The people that were in the tavern started screaming frightened.

"Katara, Sokka, go make sure the Citizens are safe, we'll handle him," Aang said.

The siblings nodded and they walked out of the tavern making sure of the citizens' safety. Before the other three were able to attack again with heir daggers, Aang and Toph trapped the man in an earthly trap and he wasn't able to move.

"Good work, Avatar Aang," Talia said and she took out her dagger from her boot and she tried to cut his throat.

"No, no, no, wait. Stop! What are you doing?!" Aang stopped her.

"I'm sorry, Avatar, but if you haven't noticed he was trying to kill us a moment ago," Talia said and she tried again but he stopped her again.

"Yeah, but that doesn't mean we should do the same!" Aang said annoyed.

"Bro, just stay out of it," Iris said "...just let her do the job,"

"Iris!" Aang exclaimed shooting an angry look at his sister.

"I can't hold him much longer, Twinkle Toes!" Toph shouted irritated at Aang while she kept the earthly trap around the man while he was still trying to break free.

"Twinkle Toes?" June asked shooting a strange playful look at Iris.

'Don't ask' Iris mouthed at her friend shrugging.

"Whatever, you say Avatar. There is no mercy in my life," Talia said and she wrapped the dagger's stem tightly and cut the man's throat.

Toph relaxed as his lifeless body stood on the rock and his blood flowed out of his neck.

"She killed this man!" An old man's voice heard from the entrance of the tavern.

Yu Dao Police officers walked in and they arrested Talia. They bounded her hands in chains and they started dragging her away.

"No, stop!" Iris shouted as she walked towards them hastily trying to stop them.

"NO!" June shouted.

Fire Nations shoulders walked in. After the negotiations of turning that Yu Dao into a new Republic, both Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom, some Fire Nation soldiers and many Fire Nation Citizens had moved to co-exist with the Earth Kingdom Citizens.

"As your Fire Lady, I command you to stop the arrest! It's been a mistake," Iris said.

"My Lady, with all due respect, there have been witnesses and her fate will be judged," One of the officers said.

"Fire Lady'?" Talia asked in disbelief as she looked at Iris.

She hadn't heard from Iris since their ways parted. She could have never expected that someone, who hated the Fire Nation so much, had married the Fire Lord.

The Fire Nation soldiers started dragging her away but she still resisted "Traitor!" She shouted at Iris "...those people raped and killed my sister, during the war! How could you?! I'll kill you! You hear me?!" She shouted trying to keep eye-sight with Iris "...I'll kill you!"

"So... Herla's dead, I guess," June said crossing her arms and blinking away a tear.

Iris turned around and she wrapped her brother's shoulders with her arms "Aang, we gotta do something, we gotta help her-"

"Sis, I can't do anything-" Aang tried to say.

"You're the Avatar, damn it!" Iris exclaimed.

"And you're the Defender, and the Fire Lady and they didn't listen to you, did they? We can't intrude to justice, we're supposed to be the justice," Aang said.

"This is not just, and you know it," Iris said.

"I just saw her killing a man!" Aang exclaimed.

"She's been through a lot. You were not born in war Aang, you did not live in it for long. You have no idea what they did to us and how that changed us!" Iris burst out and she opened her glider and flew away.

This wasn't right. She had to do something.

I know I killed the bad guy, but I did it because an awesome idea just occurred to me!!!
