Chapter 9

Annabeth

It was dark out. It must be at least two in the morning. I can't believe we only have three days to a week to round up as many demigods as we can and train them! It can't be done! I turned to my mother.

"Any ideas where to start?" I said jokingly.

"Athens," I looked at her to see if she was joking.

"Your joking right?" She shook her head. "But Athens is huge! Greater Athens is populated 3,074,160 and thats just 2011! How are we meant to pin point big clumps of demigods?!"

"Try the Parthenon loads of demigods go ther about  fifty a day so in three days thats one hundred and fifty."

"Yeah but how are we meant to know if they are demigods or not?"

"Use your gift," My face slacked. I hate usin the mark. It bugs me. I turned to get a breath turned back and she was gone.

"Glad we had this conversation!" I just shouted to any one. I walked back inside to find Percy. I found him packing his rucksack with food and clothes. "Hey you almost done? If we are to make it to Athens by morning we have to get a move on."

"Athens? Why we going there?" He looked at me quizzically.

"Gut feeling." I shrugged and he got the idea. He knows i don't like talking about it so he wont push. I was about to say something else but Mick came up to me.

"Hey can i talk to you?" I nodded and he led me away from all the others. "You gonna be ok with bein with him?"

"Yeah why?"

"Its just that it was his fault you got kiddnapped and something might happen to you again if you go with-"

"Hold it! I trust Percy, Mick! We're in this together, just like always! Wherever i go he goes! And its like that when its the other way round! Thanks for your concern Mick but i'm a big girl i can look after myself!" I walked back to percy. "You ready now?" He nods. "Then lets go!"

It didn't take us long until we were lost and Percy was bitching like mad.

"Percy just shut up will ya!" I rubbed my temples, i can feel a headache coming on.

"Well i'm sorry! But we're lost in Greece, with no where warm to sleep, no idea where we're going and last of all I'M HUNGRY!"

"When aren't you hungry!" i mumbled really low so he couldn't hear me. I just carried on forward. If we don't make it at least half way it will take us ages to get to Athens. I looked back to see if Percy was still following, he wasn't. Instead i couldn't see him anywhere! I tried to keep calm by hey! He can't just walk off!

"Oi! Percy! Where you go!?" I trudged my way back to were we got split. It was gettin really cold and everything just seemed scarier. Ican't panic otherwise i won't find Percy. "Percy i swear if you don't come back here right now eating will be the least of your problems!" I walked in the direction i think he went. I took five steps and fell. I heard Percy laugh, so he's close by! I got up and brushed myself down, i can feel blood in my mouth. Oh great! Thats just what i need! I can still hear Percy laughing. If he's watching me then i have to act normal, any sign of abnormality he'll know that i've found him.

I saw a big tree up ahead and briskly walked to it. When i was out of sight i started climbing. I carried on climbing until i was atleast eleven feet off the ground.  I perched myself on a branch and waited. A few minutes later i saw Percy walking towards the tree giggling. He cupped his hands over his mouth and started shouting.

"Annabeth! Come on I'm sorry for walking off! Theres no need to sulk!" He got to the tree and stood right underneath my branch. I started smiling, payback time! I unsheathed my dagger and steadied myself on my branch. Three. Two..... One! I leaped from te branch, screaming and landed on Percy! I heard him shriek, he hit the floor with an almighty OOF! I grabbed him by the collar and brought him close.

I whispeered in his ear, "Gottcha!" And let him go. I couldn't hep but smile at his facial expression. "Jesus Percy its not that scary! Theres no need to sulk!" He glared at me then smiled. I held out my hand and he took it.

"I'm sorry if i scared ya Perce but it was either that or i'll beat ya!" He finished brushing himself off then looked at me. He didn't say anything instead he tackled me. "Percy!" We went down like a ton of bricks.

"Annabeth Chase its time for some serious payback!" My eyes went wide. "No Percy! Please Don't!" But too late he was tickling me and wont stop.

"I won't stop until you say it!" He was enjoying my torture!

"No!-I-Won't-Say-It! I-Won't!" I was writhing on the cold leafy floor.

"Fine then the tickling won't stop! Let it comence!" I couldn't take it any longer!

"FINE! I'LL SAY IT! Percy Jackson your the best, handsom man i've ever met! Please stop the tickling!" He stopped and let me catch my breath. "I swear one day Percy i will seriously get you back for this!"

"Yeah yeah come on lets find some where to rest." He helped me up.

"I have the perfect place!" I turned to the massive tree i just jumped from and re-climbed it, i signalled for Percy to follow. I got to a branch thick enough for both of us to sit on. Percy finally caught up, he sat on the branch his back resting on the trunk. I curled up next to him and rested my head on his chest.

"Just like the old times," I couldn't help but smile.

"Yep! Me you and Grover off to risk our lives on a quest to stop Luke," I paused. "I miss the old times Perce, everything has changed."

"I haven't, I'm never gonna change." He kissed my forehead. "Night, night wise girl, sweet dreams." And for the first time in years i slept peacefully in Percy's arms. I couldn't be happier.
