Finishing The Mission
08:59, 16 April 2023Hawks' POV
The LOV were all seperated. Shigaraki was currently walking with me around his old neighborhood in hopes that we could break into his old house again. Spinner was in an alley trying to get some sleep. I knew where he was. Kurogiri was nowhere to be found, but we won't have to worry about him when everyone else is gone. Toga and Mr Compress are at the bar. I can seperate them at the last minute. Twice was at his house.
"What are you thinking about?" Shigaraki snapped me out of my train of thought. I realized that we have reached the house. I felt a strange churning in my stomach.
I took a deep breath. "Nothing."
The door was still unlocked from last time. We both went inside the house, closing the door behind us. Shigaraki started walking around, this time, talking about what his childhood was like in this home. But I wasn't paying attention to what he was saying.
I stood a few feet away from him at all times. When he walked into his old bedroom again, I knew that I needed to do it. I closed the bedroom door, causing Shigaraki to turn around and look at me in confusion. I kept my head low as I took one of my feathers and held it as if it were a sword. And then he seemed to understand.
I glanced up at Shigaraki who was mostly shocked than anything. So shocked, in fact, that he wasn't attacking me. I stepped forward and lifted the feather. Shigaraki stepped back and lifted his hand in defense, taking off the glove that covered a few of his fingers. I felt constant pain and guilt in my heart but I chose to ignore it. What else was I supposed to do?
I closed my eyes, instead, sensing my surroundings with my feathers. I imagined the boss being paid back for everything he has done for me. I need to do this. I got up to him, quicker than he could dodge, and I plunged the feather into his chest, puncturing his lung. I didn't open my eyes. I ripped the feather out, ignoring the sound that Shigaraki made. I turned and walked away, leaving his body there to bleed out and die.
________
"Hey! How are you doing?" I smiled at Spinner, as if I hadn't just killed his leader. I sat next to him. Spinner was sitting on a pile of newspapers next to a dumpster.
Spinner shrugged. "As good as I can be, I guess." He didn't say anything else. I sat there silently, wondring how I would go through with this one. Spinner has never done anything particularly bad to me, or really, any of the heroes. He's usually just the getaway driver. But I had to kill him anyway.
I stood up again and rubbed the back of my head. "Hey, you wanna do something? I'm bored."
Spinner stood up slowly. "Like what?"
I sighed and looked off to my side, as if I were thinking. I was. Just not about what he thought I was. I moved one of my big feathers until it was in my hand without him realizing it. I looked back at him, smiling, as if I wasn't going to kill him. But behind the smile was a load of misery. I hated doing this.
I squeezed my fist until my knuckles started turning white. Spinner looked confused, and then he looked down at the feather in the form of a sword. His eyes widened and he tried to move. But I stopped him. I shoved him against the wall and covered his mouth. I took the feather and stabbed him in the stomach over and over until his body went limp.
I dropped the feather as his body collapsed, blood spilling from the wounds, pooling around his body. I let out a shaky breath. I felt like I was killing my friends. People I cared about. Maybe I was. Or maybe I was dillusional. I tried to remind myself that these people were villains. I reminded myself what te did. But it didn't help. But I've gone too far to stop now.
________
I knocked on Twice's door with a smile. I waited for it to open, and when it did, I was greeted with a blonde man with stitches in the middle of his forehead. Looks like he fine at the moment. But only at the moment.
Twice stepped aside and let me in. I walked in and Twice closed the door. "What are you doing here?"
I shrugged. "I wanted to talk."
He walked in front of me and put a cigaratte out in an ashtray on his coffee table. "About what?"
I looked at him, imagining how I would kill him. "Nothing serious. I just want to get closer to you. That's all."
He looked at me for a few seconds before he walked over to the window sill. "Okay, I guess." He turned his head to me and smiled. "So how's it-" He stopped talking and his eyes widened as he felt something stab into his back, slicing at the muscle and veins, hitting his spine. I used my other arm to cover his mouth, muffling his screams as soon as they came. I stabbed him harder and harder, keeping my eyes hard and focused.
And so, his body collapsed, soaking his shirt in blood.
________
"Hey! Compress! Can you help me with this? I need one of your marbles to move this!" I yelled into the bar, peeking my head through, at Mr. Compress. I was trying to get him seperated from Toga.
He looked at me and then got up. "Of course!" He walked over to me and closed the door behind him, bringing himself into the alley, now alone with me. He looked around. "What did you need help with?"
I kept a dark expression on my face but hid it from him. "It's just over here. Someone left something and I think Toga would like it." I led him deeper into the darkness.
Mr. Compress eventually stopped walking, now suspicious of me. "What are you planning, Hawks?"
I stopped walking. I turned around slightly. "What are you talking about?"
I watched as Mr. Compress focused on me and not the feather behind his neck.
________
"Birdy!!! Where's Compress? Did he leave?" Toga greeted me as I walked inside.
I nodded. "Yeah. He went to find Shigaraki."
I sat on a stool next to Toga. I looked at her, suddenly feeling worse than I did before. I hated the feeling. I didn't want to kill Toga. She was only 17. She was only a girl.
Toga tilted her head and frowned. "What's wrong?"
My eyes widened as I realized that I was being too obvious. I shook my head, closing my eyes, and smiled. "Nothing! I'm just fine!"
Toga smiled and jumped up, clapping her hands together. "Oh! I know just what to give you!"
She ran behind the bar and started making a drink. She spoke as she did so. "Dabi started teaching me how to make drinks. He told me how to make everyone's favorites." She finished making the drink and handed it to me. "He said this one was your favorite."
I looked at it, feeling horrible as I looked down at it. I set it down and looked at her. "I can't drink thise, Toga."
Her eyes widened in confusion. "What? Why not? It's good! I promise!"
I shook my head. "It's not that." I released some of my feather, throwing them at her before I could convince myself otherwise. It hit her in her sides, making fatal wounds.
She stumbled back, bumping into the glasses, making them drop and shatter at her feet, only causing more wounds.
She slowly looked up at me after looking at the feathers. Her face looked shocked and she had tears in her eyes. She tilted her head and started saying something. "I-I... Trusted you. You betrayed me..."
I felt the breath leaving my lungs. Her words squeezed at my heart, making me want to punch myself so many times. I watched as blood soaked her clothes. She staggered back and forth before completely collapsing. Her eyes stayed open. I stood up and watched her. She looked at me, laying on the broken glass. The glare of life slowly faded from her eyes.
I left the bar, leaving the whole scene, and the untouched drink, made by the 17-year-old girl that I had just killed.
______
Only one more person. One more. I knocked on Dabi's door before opening it. I looked around. The light of the morning lit up the living room. The sun had only come up an hour ago.
I closed the front door and walked into the bedroom. There, in the bed, lay Dabi. He was the last LOV member that I was planning to kill. The last obstacle.
I stood over him, just like I had in my dream. I hoped that I could do it before he woke up. Then I wouldn't have to see his face. His reaction. I readied myself to kill him, but then his eyes opened. He turned his head and looked at me before smiling. "You're here." He mumbled out.
He grabbed my arm and pulled me forward and toward him. He sat up slightly and kissed me. I kissed him back, knowing that this would be the last possible time. I crawled onto the bed and sat on his lap. I cupped his cheek and held him close, enjoying the warmth he was giving off. For now.
Dabi broke the kiss and looked at me, worried. "What's wrong? You're crying."
My eyes widened. He was right. I was crying. I looked at him, taking in the last moment that I would be able to see him alive. And then I took a deep breath, releasing my feathers, stabbing him in the stomach with many different feathers. His eyes widened and he slowly looked down. I back up and looked at him, more tears leaving my eyes as I crawled back.
Dabi looked back up at me. He choked something out. "I was right all along." It was quiet. So quiet. Blood left the bottom of the skin under his eyes. The drops rolled down his cheeks, leaving a streak of red and landing on the already-red blanket.
My lip quivered as I watched the man I loved die. But the last thing he said broke me. He smiled at me. "But... I don't care. I still... love you... either way..."
It was like he was a whole different person. He wasn't the menacing killer that I had met so long ago. He wasn't the villain with a cold heart. He wasn't the infamous Dabi. He was Touya. Was. Dabi is now a 'was.' Because of me.
His body slumped against the headboard, and his last breath left his lungs. I couldn't get myself to move. I just cried.
