Dabi's POV

The meeting had been successful. We are thinking of teaming with them in the near future. And because of the fact that Toga hadn't interrupted our little meeting, I assume that Hawks successfully stopped her. I smiled at the thought as we all walked out of the house. Hawks isn't a traitor. At least I believe he isn't.

All of us were currently disguised by our illusion worker. We didn't have to worry about covering our faces until we got to the base. To unsuspecting eyes, I'm just a 17-year-old boy walking with his friends. There isn't a villain in sight.

Shigaraki spoke to me in a low voice, trying to not get the attention of any strangers. He spoke to me about what we are planning to do with Hawks. We can very well use him to manipulate heroes. And we can also use him to help Toga impersonate heroes that Hawks knows personally. Especially when it comes to how they address others. If we didn't know any better, we'd think that Midoriya kid calls Bakugo by his name.

We had finally arrived at the base later in the night. Hawks was on his way after he had just left his agency. He texted Shigaraki to let him know. We all sat down and got ready to officially welcome Hawks to the group. We didn't usually make a big deal about it, Toga and I know it the best, but since we have a new spy, we think that it's appropriate.

Toga had gotten back after us. She thought it was fun to impersonate Mirko. She always explained it as being similar to playing as kids. You pretend to be someone you're not. I never really played those games, though. Endeavor thought that it was too childish. As did I, but I never played anything other than ball, to be honest. Most of the time, I would sneak off to train behind my dad's back. He never liked that, as you could guess. But the point is, I can't relate to her example. It makes me wonder what other parts of childhood I missed.

Hawks' POV

I finally got to the base. As I opened the door, I immediately heard clapping. It was mostly Toga, Dabi, and Mr. Compress. The others didn't do anything. I closed the door and stood there, confused. "Uh... What did I do?"

Dabi stood up and walked toward me. I focused mostly on his face. He was beautiful. If I were to compare it to something, I'd say that it was similar to the natural beauty of Shoto Todoroki. Tsukuyomi talked to me about all the girls swooning over him. Is that how everyone reacted to Dabi. I tried to think of what he looked like without his burnt skin and less peircings. I imagine that he looked even more attractive.

Dabi put a hand on my shoulder. He was smiling more than usual. He seemed pleased. "Congrats, Little Birdie. You passed the test." He tilted his head in a seductive way. It was like he was warning me that he was going to have fun with me after we're finally alone. And I was fine with it.

I looked at the others. Dabi stood aside as Toga jumped up. "How did you like Mirko?" She held up an empty vial. One of the containers that she holds her blood. She was implying that she had been Rumi all along.

I smiled at her. "You need to better your impressions. Mirko knows that I would never call her by her last name."

Toga's smile fell. "You knew?!"

I shrugged. "For the last bit. But the first part was all natural."

Toga sat back down and pouted. Dabi grabbed my arm. I looked at him, trying to read his facial expression. His smile was gone. But he mouthed something to me. 'Thank you.'

I smiled as I immediately understood what he was thanking me for. He was glad that I was telling the truth all along. But I felt a pang of guilt at the same time. Because I wasn't telling the truth. I was lying. And he won't know that until I officially betray him. But I tried to think about the fact that I have a choice to not do it. I have a choice to become one of them, and throw away the lies. They'll never have to know.

But then I remembered being a young boy. I remembered being trained by my boss. I remembered getting my new name, and having a home, being raised by heroes. I owe him so much. I can't just leave.

I turned around and looked at all of them. I have to go though with it. But not yet. I looked at Shigaraki and Kurogiri. I looked at Spinner. They didn't look at me with the same trust that the others did. And that means that I didn't yet have to betray them. I can still hold it off as much as possible. I looked back at Dabi. I can enjoy this... as much as possible.

I ignored the twinge of guilt in my heart as Dabi walked to the bar and handed me a beer, and refused to give any alchohol to Toga. I want to try and stay in this small, flawed family for as long as possible. It's better than I could have ever asked for.
