14:43, 30 December 2024That next day Brenna still insisted that everything was fine and over the next few months Brenna began sneaking out to rehearsals and even a couple late night parties without olivia or elliot finding out. Chase and Clark where pulling her in to the part of 'the business' that her mother had tried so hard to keep her away from after what had happened when she was little.
One night elliot got suspicious and when he woke up at 2 am and found Brenna wasn't in bed he tried calling her but got no answer so he sat on the couch waiting up for her to return. He didn't want to freak olivia out just yet so he did this alone.
At 4:30 Brenna came through the front door quietly but froze when elliot turned on the livingroom lights. "Dad....I can explain." She started.
"Really? You can explain how I wake up find my 15 year old daughter gone and she doesn't come back to 4:30 in the morning?" He said worried but upset.
She bit her lip and looked down. "I...I just wanted to have some fun ok? You and mom you always have to fallow me to all the parties like I'm some little kid and I'm not. Im 15 ok not 4 like the twins ok."
"We go with you to protect you Brenna. The people in this industry...alot of them are predators." He defended.
"Maybe they are. But I'm not 5 years old anymore I know how to say no ok." She said hiding the fact that his fears weren't misplaced even if she thought they were.
He sighed "go to bed and we will be finishing this conversation in the morning with your mother." He said.
She groaned "great!" She stormed away to her room.
Elliot ran his hands down his face realizing now that they were hitting the terrible teen years but worse because he knew his daughter was being taken advantage of even if she didn't see it. He went back to bed and didn't tell olivia till the next morning after the twins went off to preschool.
"She did what?!" Olivia said in the car driving back to the apartment.
"Liv listen we have to handle this carefully ok. With her past and whatever has been going on at these parties we don't want to re traumatize her." He continued as they went inside.
It was like olivia didn't hear himself he heard her yell "Brenna Benson get your butt down here now!"
Brenna came down the steps rolling her eyes. "What?"
"Sit. We are going to talk about this." Olivia said pointing to the couch.
Brenna glared but went to the couch and plopped down on it crossing her arms. "Look I just..." she started but olivia cut her off.
"No young lady you don't get to start this conversation. I know you think it's so 'uncool' that your parents go with you to the parties and the events but it's to keep you safe. I know you were very young when Kris took advantage of you but he did and so did his so called associates. I vowed that I would never let that happen to you again." Olivia said.
"And I get that ok but I was 5 and I'm not anymore. I'm 15 and I'm practically an adult and I can handle things on my own and I don't need mommy and daddy following me everywhere!" She said frustrated with her parents reaction.
"Being 15 does not make you an adult and you definitely are not mature enough to be one." Oivia said trying to keep hold of her emotions.
Brenna was angry and stood "you know this is why I go to the parties alone cause I knew this is how you would react. I'm going to another party tonight and no you are not coming with me." She said beginning to walk away.
Olivia was shocked by her daughters reaction to everything and she became more upset. "No your not leaving this house. Your grounded for 2 weeks."
"You can't do that!" Brenna spat back as she whipped around.
"I can and I am!" Olivia said losing her cool a bit.
"You know what I've been contemplating for a while but now I'm sure what I want to do." Brenna started.
"About what?" Elliot asked.
"I'm filing to be imancipated. You guys can't control me forever and I won't let you!" Brenna said before storming away.
Olivia and elliot were left in shock. Speechless that thier little girl was becoming so different so quickly "she can't be serious?" Oliva said as she sunk on to the couch pushing back her tears.
Elliot watch his daughter storm away and his wife on the verge of breaking down and was torn on how to handle all this.
