Lily: youre uh still here....

dabi:yeah, cam and i hit it off. 

lily:he called you cam?

dabi:aw now dont tell me you gave me a fake name. 

cam:no, i just dont usually give my name out in general. 

lily:youre...youre blushing. oh my god CAM! WHAT THE HELL!?

i stood up and shut the door as i escorted lily to my room. she sat on my bed for a bit and i shut my blinds and made sure no one could see her, just out of habit. 

Lily:you. and him. do you know who he is?

cam:do you?

lily:well...no. i just wanted a quicky and maybe some drugs but he didnt do anything but get shit faced and pass out. 

Cam:lil you arent allowed to do anymore drugs. remember? youre in rehab and doing so good.

Lily:yeah ya ya. ok so why are you with him then. i thought...well honestly i started to think you just hated people. 

Cam:oh no i definitely do. i dont know...hes not..."people" i kinda like him. it doesnt take spoons to talk to him, and we just get along. 

lily:...i dont want you seeing him. 

cam:lil, as a friend you should want something like this for me and as an employer you have no right to meddle in my love life. which you have already done a few times so this time id prefer if you didnt. 

lily:wait a second thats not my fault! he asked if we could have sex i didnt think youd find out.

cam:sweetie. i was home. in the shower. not even 10 feet from you. now why did you come here?

a knock on my bedroom door reminded me that dabi was here still. i yelled for him to come on in and he smiled and only looked at me. for some reason it made me feel like i mattered. no one else, not even lily. and i liked it. alot. he gabbed my waist and whispered something in my ear and my face went serious. i shoved him to the side and went to the door where lilys parents were waiting for me. 

Mr.M: im sorry, i didnt know today was a day off for you.

cam:sorry sir, its not. lily had a self care day so ive been doing everything from home and keeping Alex, my cousin on lookout duty for her. 

Mrs.M: thats very smart of you. do you know where lily is now?

cam:in my bedroom. 

mrs.M:why?

cam:because she walked in as my...date and i were watching a movie. 

mr.M: lily. come join us in the living room. and cam please put the news on. 

i did as was requested and asked dabi if hed prefer to leave. he looked me up and down and saw that my stance, face, and tone completely changed. he seemed to just stare at me though. 

Dabi:i think ill stay if thats alright. i can stay in here or the kitchen where you can see me.

cam:its up to you. but so you know im glad you are choosing to stay. 

i turned without another thought to leave he grabbed my arm and i, stupidly out of instinct twisted it and pinned it to the door frame. lily just watched the encounter and stared at me in shock, dabi however seemed curious. 

Cam:not while im working. 

i put his hand down and went to the kitchen having lily stand beside me i closed my balcony blinds and locked that door. i headed to the kitchen to make tea and bring in some macaroons i kept in the cabinet for the family incase they ever came over, as all of us do for them. 

mrs.M:oh thank you sweetie. so lily, my love you have 2 options. 

Mr.M: we have a suitor for you. hes cams age and hes very wealthy what do you say?

lily:whats..the other option. 

mrs.M:we disown you. 

cam:the other option is you find a job or a way to help support the family. you have to put in what youve taken, your mother is just trying to make a joke. 

Mrs.M:cam is correct of course. but i see by the look of your tears what i said wasnt funny. im sorry, lily. 

cam:lily, the way you live getting married would be a smart  choice. id still be your guard but...you must know once you are married i will be on leave for 3 years to find a...suitor for myself. as is tradition. 

lily:wait...wait what?

Mr.M:oh come now have you seriously ignored how this family works your entire life?

Lily:well yes. obviously. 

mrs.M: at the age 22 our family looks for marriage if the child doesn't find a suitor before their 23rd birthday we immediately find the best suitor for their lifestyle. once married your guard is free to find love for the next 3 years, still being paid by the family but if 3 years pass and they dont come back either with or without someone they are disowned from their family. 

Lily:so...if you dont find someone then what?

cam:ill come back, and choose to either remain single until i pass away inevitably or find someone in the future but i dont get to have those 3 years to spend with them and all that. 

lily:what if you become pregnant?

cam:thats why i have 3 years. i can have 3 children in those years if i have already found someone and if not then i can still have a child at one point of those year but once thats over, if i do decide to become pregnant i will have to ask one of the elder cousins to take my place so i can have my kid. 

lily:is this really whats always happened?

mr&mrs.M &cam: Yes. 

we waited there for her answer. she just stayed silent. I looked to her parents and told them id have her decision by the end of the week. If the answer was yes her wedding would be on the day after christmas, if the answer was no im asked to help her find the best working place for her and then to report to be reassigned to another kid.

Lily:i dont...want to be married. 

cam:are you sure?

lily:YES

cam:but all youve ever talked about as a kid was marrying some rich guy and finally having your own family. 

she sat there on my couch i went to grab dabi out of my room to find him snooping.

cam:for a villain youre terrible at being discrete.
