Part IV

"Are you sure you have to leave us?" Luhan said as I finished putting the last of my stuff in the car. "I can talk to my folks again. I can convince them to let you stay with us so you at least don't have to move to a different school."
"As much as I would love that, I can't put the burden on you or them," I said, looking at his pathetic eyes. He curled up his lip and looked down at the ground in melancholy. My dad came back out with the last box and put it in the trunk.
"Sorry, guys. I know you'll miss him. But I'll make sure he comes to visit," he said. He then said his goodbyes to them after he shut the trunk. He got in the car and started it up, waiting for me to get in, too.
"I'll really miss you guys," I said to them all.
"We'll miss you, too," Xiumin said as he went in for a hug
"Good luck surviving the spoiled assholes," Kai said, kind of laughing but I could tell there was some seriousness in there. "Let me know if they try anything. I'll use my temporary good luck charm."
"Thanks, I'll be sure to let you know," I said. I turned to Luhan next, who looked like he was about to cry at any moment.
"Don't leave me, Baekhyun!" he said, hugging me around my waist suddenly. "Don't leave me with these people! I won't survive!"
Sehun pulled him off of me and said, "Calm down, hyung. It's not like he's leaving the country." He shook his head. "Good luck, man. Don't worry, we'll take care of Luhan," he added, while still holding Luhan by his waist. I smiled and sighed deeply before getting in the car.
I put my seat belt on and waved one last time to them. They all waved back.
"Ready?" my dad asked from the driver's seat. I looked at him. Truthfully, no I wasn't ready. Not being ready wasn't an option, though.
"Yeah, I'm ready." I nodded and smiled faintly. He smiled back and then pulled out on to the road that would lead me to our new temporary home.
::::::::::::::
When we got there, I stared in complete awe because their house was huge. It had a dated contemporary look on the outside with a really big circular driveway encircling a fountain located. The water in the fountain glistened in the sunlight as we pulled around to the front door. I saw someone open the door as my dad turned off the car. He was tall and wearing a suit that looked more expensive than my school tuition, so I thought it was fair to assume he was Mr. Park."
"Welcome!" he said as we got out of the car. "We've been looking forward to your arrival." Then, Chanyeol came out and stood next to his dad, except he didn't look as happy with his arms crossed over his chest and a frown on his face. He didn't look happy at all. "Aren't we, Chanyeol?" he said putting his arm around him. He pulled away quickly and rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"Thank you again for letting us stay here, sir. I don't know how I'll ever be able to pay you back for this," my dad said as he bowed to him.
"Good thing you won't need to then, huh?" Mr. Park joked, shaking my dad's hands.
"Oh, this is my son, Baekhyun," my dad said.
I smiled and bowed towards Mr. Park. "Hello, Mr. Park," I said. "Thank you so much for letting us stay here."
"Oh, it was no problem. Your dad does so much for us, I figured this is the least I could do," he explained. "This my son, Chanyeol. I think you two are around the same age, so hopefully, you can speak comfortably with each other."
I looked at him as he was looking at me. I saw a spark of something in his eyes; it wasn't hate or even resentment, but it definitely wasn't friendliness either.
"H-Hi," I said, bowing to him as well. "It's nice to meet you."
"Hi," he said back with no emotion in his voice whatsoever.
"You'll have to mind him," Mr. Park said. "He is infamous for his wonderful attitude towards others."
"I can hear you. I'm not deaf," Chanyeol said. He looked at his dad and then back at me before stomping back inside.
"Anyway, let's get you inside and show you around," he said. He called a couple of his workers to get our bags. "Come on in." I followed after my dad, looking back at them as they started to take our stuff out of the car.
When I stepped inside, I was immediately in awe. It had a large chandelier hanging on the ceiling right at the entrance. To the left was a loopy, long staircase with maroon-colored carpet on them. Straight ahead was the living room, which was decorated with paintings and a fireplace along with two large doors that led out onto the patio and into the big garden out back. The next room we were led into was the dining room, which had a long table in it with two sets of candles as the centerpiece. Next, he looped us around into the kitchen and took us back out into the entrance before taking us up to the second floor. He said the second door on the left was my dad's and mine was right next to his. I opened the door carefully, almost feeling like I wasn't supposed to be there, and there was big bed with a nightstand next to it. There was a desk on the left of it in addition to what I assumed was a walk-in closet. There was even a television in there atop a stand that had plenty of shelf room on it.
"Jesus, is this what money can buy?" I mumbled under my breath as I looked around in awe. One of the workers came up, knocking on the door to get my attention.
"I brought some of your things," he said with a friendly but timid smile on his face.
"Oh, thank you," I said. He stayed outside of the room for a few seconds, and I suddenly realized he was waiting for me to invite him in. "Y-You can come in." He nodded and bowed again, carefully carrying the boxes into the room and setting them against the wall. He left to get the rest of it. I walked out shortly after and saw Chanyeol going into a room right across from mine. I didn't know how I felt about that, but the look on his face told me all I needed to know about his feelings.
"So, what do you think? You guys like it?" Mr. Park asked. I nodded and smiled. "Great. I'm glad." He started to go back down when he said to me, "Oh and Baekhyun, I assume your dad told you but you'll be attending Chanyeol's school now, so there is a uniform in the closet in your room for you. I've already contacted your old school and had your academic records transferred."
Chanyeol came out of his room all of a sudden and peaked his head out of the door. "What did you just say?" he said sounding annoyed.
"You heard me," he replied, giving him a sharp look before he went downstairs. He huffed and glared at me before slamming his door shut. I jumped a little and my dad came over to me.
"Just try to deal with him. Remember, this is just for now," he said.
I looked at him. "Is that even possible?" I said looking back at the door. He patted my shoulder and sighed. I went back into my new room and went right to the closet to look at the uniform. I gently touched the jacket sleeve and ran my hand down it with a heavy sigh.
Just what had I walked into?
Chanyeol
I woke up the next morning and prayed that everything that happened yesterday was just a dream. Unfortunately, I realized it wasn't when I saw that the door across from my room was open. I sighed in disappointment as I saw that Baekhyun kid making the bed. I shook my head and went over to stand in the doorway.
"I don't know where you moved from, but here, there are people here that do that for you," I said.
He looked at me, surprised to see me. "Yeah, I-I know. I'm just so used to doing it myself, I guess..." Scoffing, I rolled my eyes and went to get dressed for school.
I did my usual thing in the bathroom and put on my uniform before getting ready to go downstairs. I threw my bag on one of my shoulders and looked across the hall again only to see that he was having trouble putting on his tie. Seriously, this kid. I sighed again, remembering that this was only temporary. As much as it would hurt my pride, I figured I should try and make the best of it. I walked across the hall again to his door but actually went into the room this time. I laid my bag on the floor and walked up to him.
"Come here," I said, turning him around rather forcefully. I noticed that his face began to turn a little red as I began to undo his tie and fix it and his eyes widened as I did this. "Haven't you ever put on a tie?" I asked when I finished. He got an embarrassed look on his face and looked down at the floor.
"Not since my mom's funeral. That was years ago," he said. I felt a small ping in my heart when he said that.
"Well, you should learn," I said after clearing my throat and stepping back to pick up my bag again. He looked at me. I looked back at him for a few seconds then shook my head as if to get out of a trance, turning around and heading out of the room and downstairs. Once I was on the last step, I put my head on the wall and said to myself, "Get yourself together, Chanyeol."
I shut my eyes for a second and then took a deep breath, stepping off the last step and heading toward the dining room.
