17:29, 5 September 2025Days had passed. There was still no sign of the grounders attacking. The camp was starting to run low on food. A very small handful of delinquents were blaming Sophia and Murphy, as the two were still at the camp.
"This wouldn't have happened this soon if those two weren't still here." "We should turn them in to the grounders. Maybe then they'll spare us."
Murphy was starting to get more and more irritated. He could handle the insults. He was used to people hating him, but he could see the toll it was starting to take on Sophia. Sure she wasn't loved by everyone, but people never treated her like this before. Murphy couldn't help but take the blame. After all, they were only insulting her because she helped him when he was banished.
Murphy made his way into the smokehouse where Sophia and Octavia were working. Del was in there this time around, annoying/taunting the hell out of Sophia while also adding more wood to the fire, now pissing Octavia off.
"You don't want the fire too big. So maybe just try to knock it down with some wet leaves." She frowned as she grabbed some of the wet leaves, making Del roll his eyes.
"You get that from your boyfriend, Grounder pounder?" Del questioned, smirking in amusement when he noted the pissed off looks from both girls.
"She's right. A hot fire is not gonna preserve the meat as well." Murphy chimed in, making his presence known in the smokehouse.
Del looked over at Murphy with a scowl, "You can't take the heat, get out of the smokehouse. Should be kissing our asses for us keeping you and your little cocksleeve around. Just keep working." He hissed as he walked out of the smokehouse, muttering to himself.
Sophia sighed softly as she went back to work, muttering a quiet thanks to Murphy.
"Are you two alright?" Murphy questioned, watching the two girls. Sophia frowned at those words. Is she alright? Is anyone that's left of the 100 alright?
"I'm used to them insulting me for Lincoln. I just try to ignore it. Soph on the other hand..." Octavia frowned, looking over at Sophia, who had stopped what she was doing. All the insults are playing on repeat in her mind. Like one of those annoying songs that you just can't get out of your head, no matter how hard you try.
"Yeah..." Murphy frowned. He was about to go up to Sophia when Del came back, tossing more wood again. That one piece seemed to be enough to set the whole smokehouse on fire.
"Oh shit-!" Del was out in an instant, Octavia following close behind. Sophia's eyes widened as she moved closer to Murphy, whilst the fire moved quickly, surrounding the two.
"Come on!" Murphy's arm was immediately around Sophia's waist, quickly guiding her out while the girl coughed as smoke started to fill her lungs.
"This is all your fault! We told you it was too much wood." Murphy snapped at Del as he left Sophia to the side before starting to fight with Del.
"Murphy-" Sophia said in between coughs. It was no point; her words were falling on deaf ears.
"Hey! Hey! Hey, stop! Save it for the Grounders." Bellamy snapped, breaking up the fight.
"Well, now what the hell are we gonna do? That was all the food." Octavia frowned.
Sophia watched Bellamy and Clarke discuss for a bit before coming to an agreement. A hunting party. A group of delinquents left to go try and find more food while the rest of the delinquents stayed behind.
Sophia sighed, heading back in the dropship, lying in one of the hammocks to try and rest after the fiasco in the smokehouse.
"How are you feeling?" Murphy questioned, following Sophia into the dropship.
"Like my lungs are still burning." Sophia groaned as she pushed herself up into a seated position.
"I'm surprised they're not jumping at kicking that prick out for destroying all the food." Murphy huffed. "If it were you or me, they wouldn't hesitate."
"With the grounders possibly attacking at any moment, I think they're more worried about being able to fight. When this is all over, they'll probably give Del a suitable punishment."
"If they're not busy kicking us out or trying to kill us if we stay longer." Sophia frowned at Murphy's words, her left foot shaking anxiously.
"Why are you doing that?" Murphy questioned. "What?" Sophia blinked. "The thing with your foot."
Sophia willed her foot to stop as she looked away. "It's nerves, I guess. I'm just worried about what's to come, I guess. I...I don't want to die." She admitted.
Murphy frowned as he sat down next to Sophia; the hammock wobbled at the additional person.
"I told you, Soph. I'm not going to let that happen. Not as long as I'm still breathing. You're not going to die." Murphy nudged her with his shoulder.
Sophia smiled weakly as she rested her head on his shoulder. A silence fell over the pair. Idle chatter outside the dropship could be heard. Maybe Raven and Monty? Whatever/whoever it was, Sophia couldn't be bothered to try and translate what was being said.
"You remember what you said to me? Back when I was first banished and you brought me all that stuff?" Murphy questioned suddenly. "The whole not giving up thing?" Sophia's brows furrowed slightly as she lifted her head to look at Murphy.
"I want you to take your own advice. Shit's been getting hard around here. It's taking its toll on you. I've noticed it, Octavia has noticed it. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if your brother or Monty has noticed it too. Don't let the prices get their way. Keep fighting." Murphy looked at her. The same serious look that had once been in Sophia's eyes when she told Murphy not to give up was now in his.
Sophia seemed even more surprised now, before she exhaled, then nodded. "Alright..." She murmured.
Murphy nodded as he got up, gently pushing Sophia back down on the hammock. "Get some rest. I'll let you know when the others come back from hunting." He said before heading out of the dropship.
Sophia lay on her side, watching Murphy leave. Her eyes scanned him before rolling back onto her back, staring at the ceiling. When this was all over...Sophia needed to get out. She didn't know how much more she could take of the name-calling. Jasper would understand. He wouldn't want her to be miserable.
She just needed to make it through whenever the grounders attack.
